Chapter 125 Definitely Can Keep My Wife
But Brandon held back, considering that Elijah hadn't recovered yet.
Soon, he said goodbye and left.
Before leaving, he said to Candice again, "If anything urgent comes up, call me anytime. I'll come over right away!"
It was just an ordinary concern, but after hearing it, Candice felt dazed for a moment.
These words—she had once really wanted to hear them from him.
But he had been too stingy to give them.
Unexpectedly, after all these years, she heard them now, at a time like this.
However, Candice understood that these words weren't meant for her.
Brandon was probably referring to Elijah.
So she nodded without much expression.
Seeing her cold look, Brandon said nothing more and soon left.
Since it was getting late, Candice then took the two little ones upstairs to bathe.
Coming out of the bathroom, Yasmin wore cute pajamas with a bunny pattern and hugged her affectionately.
"I want to sleep with you tonight, okay?"
After saying this, Yasmin rubbed her little head against Candice's chest.
Although Elijah didn't act cute like Yasmin, his little hand tugged at Candice's clothes, his eyes full of expectation.
He wanted to sleep with Candice too!
Being clung to by the two children like this, Candice's heart melted completely, and she simply couldn't refuse.
Never mind her own Yasmin—given Elijah's current condition, she wasn't comfortable letting him sleep alone either.
If Elijah woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't find her, he'd probably be scared.
So she nodded and agreed, "Okay! I'll sleep with you both tonight!"
Both little ones were delighted and climbed onto the bed on their own, lying down obediently.
Candice slept in the middle, and being nestled by the two little ones gave her an inexplicable sense of fulfillment.
That night, she slept soundly.
The next morning, when Candice woke up, she felt like a mountain was pressing on her stomach, making it hard to breathe.
She propped herself up to look and found that Yasmin had somehow ended up with her upper body completely on top of her.
She was sleeping in a terrible position.
On the other side, Elijah was sleeping very properly, forming a stark contrast with Yasmin.
Candice found it funny. She couldn't help but lightly pat Yasmin's little bottom before moving her to a different position.
After that, she got up first to wash up and put on makeup.
After getting ready, she woke the two little ones.
After breakfast, she was about to take the children out when, unexpectedly, Brandon arrived.
Watching him skillfully park his car in front of her house, Candice was a bit surprised.
"Why are you here?"
Her tone seemed a bit annoyed.
Brandon's heart sank, but he still said smoothly, "Grandma's orders. She said I caused you so much trouble and asked me to be your driver every day, responsible for picking you up and dropping you off.
Also, I'm dropping off Elijah's backpack. He should be going to kindergarten with Yasmin today, right?"
As he spoke, he looked at Elijah.
Hearing this, Elijah instinctively gripped Candice's clothes tighter, pouting, clearly unwilling.
Candice sensed his emotions and said to Brandon, "Elijah's condition isn't stable yet. Let's not send him to kindergarten for now. Although he acts normal when he's with me, he still gets a bit panicked when he can't see me!"
This morning, when she came out after washing up, Elijah had just woken up.
He probably didn't see her, so he looked anxious and wanted to get down to find her.
Because he was too rushed, he almost fell off the bed.
It broke her heart!
Hearing her say this, Brandon had no objections.
He thought for a few seconds and said, "In that case, I'll help you pick up Yasmin after school from now on! You still have to work, so this will save you from running around everywhere."
"No need!"
Candice refused without thinking.
Although she had a lot of contact with Elijah, she had no intention of letting Yasmin have more contact with Brandon.
She was afraid something might happen.
Seeing her reject him outright, Brandon frowned and asked, "Why? This would make things easier for you, wouldn't it?"
Candice declined again, saying, "Yasmin has Orla and a driver to pick her up. Mr. Obelon is so busy with important matters, we won't trouble you."
Hearing this, Brandon couldn't help but stare at her suspiciously.
"Candice, something's off with you! You're helping me take care of Elijah, and I haven't said anything, but when I want to help you pick up Yasmin, you keep making excuses?"
Saying this, he looked down at Yasmin beside him.
Yasmin blinked, looking somewhat innocent.
But in her heart, she understood why Candice didn't want her to have contact with him.
Probably afraid their true relationship would be exposed!
However, so much time had passed, and he hadn't discovered anything, so there definitely wouldn't be any problems later!
Her acting skills were that good!
So Yasmin quickly said, "Candice, I don't mind. It's fine if he picks me up. You're busy enough with work during the day, and running around everywhere is really tiring. I feel bad for you too."
Candice didn't expect Yasmin to cause trouble and felt exhausted.
Was she afraid of being tired?
She was afraid Brandon would discover that Yasmin was his daughter!
Brandon saw she was still unwilling and simply said coldly, "Candice, I don't like owing people favors. Picking up and dropping off Yasmin—consider it repaying you for taking care of Elijah. This matter is settled."
After saying this, he turned around and went to open the car door.
Candice was blocked by his words and couldn't refuse anymore.
Fine!
Let him repay the favor then.
At least they wouldn't have to keep dealing with each other afterward.
Soon, everyone got in the car.
Brandon first drove Yasmin to kindergarten.
During the trip, Candice didn't speak to him again.
Yasmin could tell the atmosphere between them was a bit strange.
The atmosphere was always tense, yet they kept having interactions.
Moreover, from her observations, this Brandon seemed to still care about Candice somewhat!
Last night, when Opal said she'd introduce a boyfriend to Candice, he was obviously anxious.
Yasmin's mind stirred.
Could Brandon have fallen for Candice?
Although Yasmin was usually carefree and never showed any longing for a father's love, deep down she still wanted a dad.
Besides, she had asked Elijah before and learned that Brandon didn't like the bad woman from the Elikin family and had no intention of marrying her.
Over the years, he hadn't had any involvement with other women either!
She had originally been unhappy about Brandon abandoning Candice back then.
But if there was some reason behind it, it seemed not unforgivable.
While Yasmin's thoughts were turning, Elijah, beside her felt somewhat annoyed.
Brandon clearly liked Candice, but he wouldn't even try to keep her.
Candice was so soft-hearted—she would secretly visit when she saw him uncomfortable!
If Brandon tried a bit harder, he could definitely keep her.
