Chapter 121 Serve Your Wife Well
Brielle's face instantly darkened.
This was just too much!
It was one thing for Brandon to be so rude, but even Knox, just a lowly assistant, dared to treat her this way!
But she didn't dare cause a scene at the company, otherwise, she had no idea how Opal would punish her later.
In the end, Brielle could only leave with Vesper.
After leaving the Obelon Group, both of them looked pretty unhappy.
However, Vesper's mind was working overtime.
She was thinking that there had to be a reason why Brandon was suddenly protecting Candice like this.
Combined with him not letting them visit Elijah, Vesper had a theory.
She said to Brielle, "Mrs. Obelon, I have a suspicion - maybe Brandon sent Elijah to stay with Candice."
Otherwise, she couldn't understand why Brandon wouldn't even let them see Elijah for a moment.
Hearing this, Brielle's expression changed. "What? How is that possible?"
Vesper slowly explained, "Why wouldn't it be possible? Mrs. Obelon, I don't know if you remember when we went out to eat and ran into Candice.
Elijah was defending Candice then. Obviously, they'd already met before. Maybe without us knowing, they've been in contact many times already!
And Brandon has protected her several times too. I'm one thing - after all, I'm an outsider. But he won't even give you face! You're his birth mother, yet for Candice..."
Vesper trailed off, acting like she couldn't bear to continue, feeling sorry for Brielle.
Brielle's expression immediately became stormy.
If this were really true, how could this be allowed?
That bitch Candice wasn't just clinging to her son - now she wouldn't even let go of her grandson?
No way. She had to get to the bottom of this!
With this thought, Brielle grabbed Vesper and said, "Come on, let's go see for ourselves!"
"Okay!"
Vesper agreed, and when Brielle wasn't looking, a triumphant smile crossed her lips.
After getting in the car, the two headed straight to the Mortimer Group's research facility, determined to stake it out.
This time, Brielle didn't blindly charge directly into the Mortimer Group's research facility.
So Candice had no idea she was there.
In the evening, when she finished up, she called Brandon, "I'm done here, you can come over now."
Brandon agreed and came to pick her up as promised.
When Candice came out of the research facility holding Elijah's hand, she saw Brandon leaning against the car window.
He was wearing a high-quality black shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, the top two buttons casually undone, and gold-rimmed glasses on his face, looking refined and distinguished.
Candice had seen him dressed like this before, but she still couldn't help thinking that without glasses, he looked cold, but with them on, he looked like a refined scoundrel!
While silently critiquing him, the two had already reached Brandon.
Brandon glanced at Elijah beside her and asked Candice, "Did he bother you today?"
Candice replied, "No, Elijah was very good."
As she spoke, she affectionately ruffled Elijah's hair.
Elijah rubbed against her palm like a little cat, being incredibly sweet, just not giving Brandon a single proper look.
Brandon noticed this too and raised an eyebrow, asking Elijah, "Still mad?"
Elijah turned his head to the side.
Totally not giving him any face!
Clearly, he hadn't forgiven him yet.
Candice couldn't help but laugh, watching from the side.
She thought Elijah was so cute!
And she felt a bit gleeful too.
She never thought she'd see the day when Brandon would be snubbed by his own son.
Brandon found it amusing too.
A whole day had passed, and Elijah still hadn't cooled down. By the looks of it, he'd probably stay mad for many more days!
He didn't say anything, just opened the car door for them both, saying, "Get in first."
Candice didn't stand on ceremony with him, taking it for granted as she and Elijah enjoyed Brandon's personal service.
Brandon got in from the other door, and then they set off.
On the way to the Obelon Manor, they stopped by the kindergarten to pick up Yasmin.
Yasmin hadn't seen Elijah in days and was worried sick about him. As soon as she got in the car, she fussed over him constantly.
Although Elijah wasn't as lively as before, he was willing to respond to Yasmin. Whatever Yasmin asked, he answered.
Brandon watched their interaction.
So Elijah was just ignoring him - he was willing to talk to everyone else.
He felt helpless but could only accept this reality.
While they were heading to the Obelon Manor, Brielle and Vesper both looked terrible.
Especially Vesper - her whole face was so dark it could almost drip water!
She had originally just suspected that Brandon had given Elijah to Candice.
But she never expected it to actually be true!
Brandon really had given Elijah to Candice!
How far had they developed their relationship?
Vesper was furious, her nails digging deep into her flesh without her even realizing it.
And Candice knew nothing about any of this.
When their group arrived at the Obelon Manor, Opal had already had a table full of dishes prepared, and even personally came out to the courtyard to meet them.
After returning from the hospital that morning, she'd been in high spirits all day.
Now Opal and Beau stood at the entrance, and seeing Brandon actively open the car door for Candice, her expression was extremely satisfied.
However, when she saw Yasmin and Elijah get out of the car after them, a flash of surprise crossed Opal's face.
Why did she feel like she was looking at twins?
She quickly snapped out of it and instinctively asked, "Who's this little girl?"
Candice used her original explanation, "She's my relative's child. Her parents are too busy with work, so she's staying with me."
Yasmin looked at Opal in front of her.
Although she was quite old, the elegance and kindness she radiated were just like her great-grandmother back in Silverlight City!
It made her like her right away!
She smiled sweetly and greeted Opal, calling out, "Hello! My name is Yasmin!"
Her sweet little voice melted hearts.
Opal was delighted by the greeting and smiled back at her, "Hello Yasmin, welcome! Come on in quickly, dinner's all ready!"
"Okay!"
Candice agreed and brought the two little ones inside together.
After everyone washed their hands, they sat down for dinner.
Opal had always loved children, so after sitting down, she personally served all kinds of delicious food to the two little ones.
Naturally, Candice wasn't left out either.
"Candice, you should eat more, you've gotten thinner."
As for Brandon beside her, Opal completely ignored him!
Brandon was already used to this kind of scene.
He quietly ate by himself.
But soon, Opal glared at him unhappily and said with disdain, "Brandon, can't you at least take care of your guest? Making me do everything - does that make sense?"
Brandon paused and looked at Opal.
He saw Opal give him a look, signaling him to serve food to Candice too.
Brandon understood and immediately served Candice several dishes she liked.
But Candice didn't appreciate the gesture.
She said coolly, "Thanks, but I can do it myself."
Opal heard the distance in her tone and said, "It's fine, Candice, feel free to boss him around! You're helping him take care of Elijah - it's only right that he does these things! If he can't take care of his own kid properly, at least let him serve people."
Then she gave Brandon a look.
As if saying, "If you don't take good care of Candice, you can stay single forever!"
