Chapter 213 213 My Reality
Chapter 213 213 My Reality
And once again, I burst into tears. I don’t know whether I’m happy about this news, but I know one thing for sure—I will keep this child, and I won’t get rid of it, no matter whose it is.
Everything was so tangled in my head that I no longer knew what was real and what wasn’t. Kays wasn’t there, and everything that had been there was supposedly just a product of my overactive imagination. Very overactive. To the point that I even decided to write my own fantasy novel. Why let such an imagination go to waste?
I had to face reality—this child was Anton’s, even though he had always been extremely careful about these things. But that’s life, and things happen… And I had to tell him.
"Hi," I greeted my friend when we agreed to meet at a small cozy café near my place.
"Hi," he smiled faintly and kissed my cheek.
"Listen… we haven’t been together for a while now, but you left something with me, and I think you should know about it," I didn’t beat around the bush and placed the test, sealed in a disposable plastic bag, on the table. "I’m not asking you for anything. I just want you to know."
As I spoke, my eyes started watering again. As if only now, after saying it out loud, everything had become real. And that reality was this: Kays and everyone else had been nothing more than a dream of an overexcited pregnant mind—and soon, we would become parents.
"How did that even happen?" he was stunned and started scratching the back of his head from the sudden rush of emotions as he picked up the positive test. "We were always careful…"
"It happens…" I whimpered softly, lowering my gaze. "But I’m keeping the baby."
"Of course!" he blurted out, realizing I needed his support right now. "I never planned to refuse being a father… We can do this. We’ll manage."
He placed his hand over mine and squeezed it reassuringly, and that almost made me cry even harder. He really is a good man. For a couple of minutes, we sat there in silence, lost in our own thoughts, still holding hands.
"Maybe we’ll have a beautiful little girl," he sighed dreamily, a bit sadly.
"I thought men usually wanted a boy," I smiled wearily at his reaction, still not letting go of his hand.
"I don’t know," he shrugged. "I want a sweet little daughter… with green eyes."
My heart skipped a beat at his words, and I looked at my ex seriously.
"Anton, why green eyes?" I latched onto the phrase. "Mine are blue, yours are brown—where would green come from?"
"I don’t know," he rubbed the back of his head again, looking genuinely confused himself. "The image just kind of popped into my head…"
"And we’ll name her Laverna?" I looked at the redhead, and he paused, thinking.
"Unusual… but a beautiful name," a fleeting, happy smile touched his lips.
"Anton, you’re going to drive me straight into a psych ward!" I yanked my hand away and hurried to get up, breathing hard, trying to calm the storm of emotions inside me.
"What did I even say wrong?" he asked, not understanding, spreading his hands helplessly.
"Blame it on hormones," I muttered and rushed out of the café, unable to cope with my feelings. Tears streamed down my face, and I futilely tried to wipe them away with my sleeve.
They have to be real! It’s not for nothing that the image of Laverna keeps surfacing in Anton’s mind!
How can this be?! Where are they?!
