Chapter 206 206
Chapter 206 206
“You can’t do this to us!” Rachil gasped in horror, her voice trembling. “Why would you choose just one, when all of us are ready to accept you into our arm—”
She didn’t get to finish.
Rachil dropped unconscious right in the middle of the hall with a loud thud. Iolanta winced and rubbed her hand, then immediately straightened her posture and lifted her chin proudly. A deathly silence fell over the room. Everyone watched the scene with fascination—especially Gerald, whose eyes were practically glowing. He loved this kind of spectacle.
“Alright then!” Iolanta declared, glaring at her beloved. “By tonight, I expect a ring and a passionate proposal of marriage! …You bleached-haired stallion.”
She curled her lip at the nickname and strode out of the hall with regal dignity.
The silence was broken by Gerald’s slow, deliberate clapping.
“Now that is a woman!” Mymrik exclaimed enthusiastically, continuing to applaud. “If I’d met her earlier, I would’ve married her without a second thought! That’s exactly the kind of fire I was missing in my long life!”
He paused, then his eyes lit up. “Actually—why not? There are plenty of worthy men gathered here! We could hold a tournament for this lovely lady, if she agrees! Everything’s already prepared! Any takers?”
A buzz of voices filled the hall. About a dozen candidates eagerly raised their hands, agreeing with Gerald.
“Come anywhere near her and I’ll tear you all apart!” the blond growled, clenching his jaw and fists before storming out of the hall.
“Probably went to get the ring,” I chuckled into Kays’s ear. He laughed in agreement.
Naturally, Yafi wasn’t exactly a master of romance, so he came running to me for advice. I helped him plan a dream date for his beloved, and by evening the blond was down on one knee, proposing to the stubborn brunette. She didn’t hold out long and said yes.
The next day, Rachil stopped Iolanta, sincerely shook her hand, and congratulated her on the engagement. She said she respected her—after all, the daughters of Rasfata weren’t easy to defeat, and that blow had been impressive. In the end, Iolanta became one of the warrior sisters, and they promised to come to her aid whenever needed.
Laverna stopped coming at night—only during the day. Anton was restless, tense, and withdrawn. He no longer saw Lavi, and it gnawed at him badly. He could freeze for minutes at a time, lost in thought about the witch, but he made no move, unable to understand his own feelings.
The entire palace—and Letid itself—was preparing for our wedding. Countless seamstresses came to see me, but in the end, we managed to have a magnificent dress made.
Tomorrow is our special day. We’re lounging lazily in bed after a lively awakening. Kays hasn’t left my side for a moment, showering me with affection until I’m dizzy. And his very serious determination about children still refuses to let up.
But today, my beloved woke me unusually gently—soft kisses along my bare back making me purr in contentment. My morning began with sweet, lingering kisses over every sensitive spot, followed by slow, unhurried lovemaking filled with love and a look in his eyes that held pure adoration.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to linger long—someone started pounding insistently on our bedroom door.
“I’ll slam him into the wall again, and Laverna won’t save him this time,” Kays muttered, already knowing who it was.
“Iza! Sorry to barge in like this,” Anton blurted out breathlessly. “But I need to know—where does Laverna live?”
I tried not to show my absolute delight and gladly explained the way. He thanked me eagerly and ran off without looking back.
“Kays!” I turned to my fiancé, practically bouncing in place with excitement. “What if it works?!”
“I’d be happy if it did,” my beloved smiled, wrapping his arms around my waist and kissing me.
“Kaaays,” I whispered, instantly melting into his touch. “I’m hungry…”
Smiling against my lips, my king gives me one more quick kiss and says that food is sacred. So we quickly get ready and head down for breakfast.
The atmosphere everywhere is busy and festive. Thankfully, the only thing that truly mattered to me was the dress—everything else was handled by specially hired people, sparing me the nervous chaos. To my own surprise, I’m not anxious at all. I love that scoundrel with my whole soul, and I want to be his wife.
While we’re having breakfast and chatting cheerfully with Gerald, we suddenly see—and feel—a massive, radiant wave pass through all of us, sending a warm shiver straight to the heart.
“Kays!” I look at my beloved, and he breaks into a wide smile, pulling me into his arms.
“Laverna is free. They did it—I can feel it!”
