CHAPTER 112
DEAD ENDS
ALEXANDER
I didn't go down for dinner.
The house could burn for all I cared at this point. I'd rather just prefer that Elise smiled across the table I wasn't in, Camille pushed her food around her plate and Isabella wondered where I was. Than pretend to be fond while my company burned and my daughter looked at me like I was a stranger.
The study was dark except for the glow of my laptop screen. I had been here since noon, barely moving or even eating. The phone rang off the hook, emails flooding in faster than I could delete them. Every notification was a deeper cut to my flesh.
The stock had stabilized slightly, but the comments—the comments were relentless.
“He's been hiding this for years.”
“How can we trust him?”
“How can a man with a medical related Foundation be like this?”
I closed the tab, opened another to spreadsheets, projections and damage reports.
Without allowing myself to spiral again, I pushed off my chair and headed to my room to shower and head to work. And when I walked into the company, it was just as gloomy as it was supposed to be.
I had called an emergency meeting with my senior team at ten. Five faces around a conference table, all of them avoiding my eyes.
"The Marseille project," I said. "I want a full audit. Every document, every signature and every email."
That's where this fucking problem is coming from.
"We're already on it, sir," someone said.
"Then why is the press still talking?"
Silence was the answer I got and I had to grit my teeth to contain my anger.
I looked at each of them. "I don't think this is hust about the foundation. I have a feeling someone is feeding information to the media. Someone inside. I want to know who."
A junior associate who was young, nervous and barely out of university raised his hand. "Mr. Moreau, I've been reviewing the communications log, and there's something—"
"Then speak."
He hesitated. "The leaks… they're coming from multiple sources. It's not one person, it's a very coordinated attack."
I stared at him. "Coordinated how?"
He swallowed. "I don't know yet, but the timing of each article aligns. Whoever is behind this knows the foundation's internal systems and it doesn't look like something that was planned for days. Maybe months."
The room went quiet.
"Months," I repeated.
"Yes, sir."
I leaned back in my chair thinking about the possibility of shT he just said. If he was right, then it was before Elise came back or even before I met Isabella.
"Clear out everything on the media," I said. "Do it as quickly as you can, we don't what the company taking any more damage than it already has.
The meeting ended, and one staff looked skeptical about the whole thing. Or maybe something ekse.
"You have something else to say?" I asked, my eyebrows dipping even further.
He shook his head. "No, sir. I just—" He stopped. “Wouldn't it be weird if we're so aggressive with our actions? I mean, we can just ignore the accusations and just keep working normally."
I looked at him and all I saw was a complete fool with a hundred percent pride.
Who the hell hired him!?
"You're fired," I said.
His eyes widened and he seemed to come back to his senses for a bit. “Wha— sir?”
"You're done," I repeated. "Security will escort you out."
He sputtered, protesting as he begged. But I didn't look up from my screen.
“Sir please. I'm sorry, I wouldn't say anything again.” he pleaded, but I didn'tomd him, I just kept to what I was doing on my phone. Unable to get me to look at him, he turned around with bowed bead and headed out of the room with the rest of them.
At nine, I called Mathieu. The phone rang four times. I was about to hang up when he answered.
"Mr. Moreau."
"Tell me you found something."
There was pause that took too long and I just didn't want to think negatively from just that.
"Mathieu."
"I've been following every lead," he said, his voice holdong a hint of frustration. "The video that was mentioned in the articles—I traced the source, but it's a dead end. The account that posted it was deleted within hours and ghe IP address was routed through multiple countries. Whoever did this knew what they were doing.
"What about the leaks? The documents? And what what was the video about?"
"Same thing. Every trail leads to a shell company, every shell company leads to another shell company. I've been digging for over 24 hours, and I keep hitting walls. And there's no video. It just… vanished."
I gripped the phone tighter. "You're telling me you found nothing?"
"I'm telling you I haven't found anything yet."
"Yet."
"Yes."
The silence stretched as his breathing filled my ears from the other end.
"Mathieu." My voice was low. "Is there something you're not telling me?"
Again, there was another pause and this time it was longer.
"No," he said. "I'll keep looking."
The line went dead and I set the phone down and stared at the wall. I couldn't exactly tell what was going on anymore and I was almost at my wits end.
Someone was playing a very long game. And they were winning.
I pushed back from the desk and walked to the window. The city was black, the moon hidden behind clouds. Somewhere in this same city was Elise and whoever she had in cohorts for my head.
And I was standing here, alone, watching my empire crumble.
Turning around I walked back to my desk and sat behind it, pretending I wasn't deep in the swan. By the end of the day when I left the office and I was heading back home, I had one thought in mind.
I wanted to drown so deep in a wet, tight and milky pussy, forgetting everything a out the name Alexander Moreau.
And only one person's pussy fit that description.
