Chapter 102
Her eyes bulged open like balloons, her heart quickened, and her legs suddenly felt too heavy to stand.
But she needed to hold on. If she let her legs bring her to the floor, her babies might get affected. A heavy ache filled her head.
What do you think Kage would do when he learns it was you who had injected Nuxine into his drink? You wanted to harm him but ended up killing his sister. Do you think he'll believe you're innocent even when you injected it yourself?' Lancelot's voice rang from the phone. What do you want? Do I have to wait for you to expose me like you did with Lana?' Sylvie's response.
Cold coursed through her spine. Oh, God. He did it. Lancelot exposed her! He's destroyed her!
It all made sense. Why Kage had appeared to her looking that wounded. Oh, Lancelot. The scoundrel finally ruined her.
She took a step back, into the room, tears beginning to gather in her eyes like a cloud of rain gathering to pour.
She wanted to go to him, to put her arms around him and tell him to stay calm, but another part of her was so frightened of what he'd do to her.
The truth was finally

every moment Sylvie's always dreaded.
Is it true?" He spoke for the first time.
God d****. The pain in his voice was raw. Sylvie's never seen Kage cry before. Sha wasn't even sure a man as hard as he was has ever cried before, but in that moment, she wouldn't doubt it if someone said he did. Pain and guilt stabbed her deep in the chest. She felt cruel.
out.
"Is this-" his brows furrowed, his gaze dropping to the floor as if contemplating. "-The reason you were always nervous around him? Because you two share a secret? That day in the office, you two were... You were..." he shook his head, finding it hard to put the words Sylvie had never seen Kage struggle for words before. She has never seen him at such a weak point. God, how could she do this to him?
She had no idea tears were already down her face until one of it reached her lips.
"Just tell me it's not true." He lifted his gaze to meet hers. The coldness in his eyes had dissolved into self-denial and hurt. "Tell me that somehow, this recording is fake and you had nothing to do with this." A sob escaped her throat as she lowered her head.
"Dni

Say something!" He yelled at her, causing her to shudder as she looked up at him. "Tell me this is fake! Tell me it isn't the reason Lancelot's always seemed to have a hold on you! Say something!" sorry.. She finally whimpered, her body wracking with sobs. "I'm so sorry."
She couldn't say anything else. At that point, she could only hope Kage didn't try to hurt her.
No. She deserved to get hurt by him. She'd have asked him to hurt her if only it wouldn't affect her babies.
Her remorse confirmed Kage's fears. The look of betrayal in his eyes deepened and turned his face into an impassive sheet
of cold rock.

This time, it was him who took retreating steps, as though he was standing before a stranger. The movement gripped Sylvie's heart, wounding her in ways she never thought possible,
Tears rushed down her face like a deluge. When he turned and started walking away, she pushed her legs forward. "Kage..." she called, but he didn't stop.
She was only able to take three steps before her legs threatened to cripple. She held onto the wall for support, crying her
eyes out.

An hour later, she headed for Kage's house. It was probably a bad idea, but Sylvie didn't have a lot of options.
Fortunately, he hadn't placed a restriction on her yet, so she was able to get into his house.
She found him when she got to the living room, descending the stairs. With his car keys in his hand, it was obvious he was heading out. Sylvie dropped to her knees, not minding the discomfort that came with the sudden position.
Kage came to a stop, his eyes filled with a certain coldness that terrified Sylvie.

"How could you?" He shook his head. "All these years, you stayed by my side. You let me love you and made me think you loved me. Yet, you carried such a secret? A week ago, you comforted me when I talked about her. How could you have been by my side when you were the cause of my pain?"
His words were like daggers, piercing Sylvie deep in the wrong place.
"I'm so sorry," she shook her head. "I know... I know there's no excuse for what I did, but there's not a day that goes by that I do not regret it, Kage. Lancelot deceived

"Yes! But I had no idea it was Nuxine and didn't know Marilyn would be the one to take it. Yes, I know I was foolish. I should've known what it was before injecting it, but Lancelot told me it wasn't fatal and irritations for a couple of hours. I swear, that was all he said. And back then, I wanted him. I didn't know he was lying. I didn't know this was going to happen. I so sorry."

She wept uncontrollably, reaching out to touch his waist, but he didn't let her. He stared at her for a long time, as she wept, the pain in his eyes intensifying.
"In the end, you killed her." His voice echoed with pain. "I spent a year behind bars while blaming myself for what happened. Do you even know how much she suffered before she died? I held her hand as she took her last breath at the hospital."
His brows curled tightly in pain. "How could you come near me knowing what you did? All these years, how could you let me love you?"
"I'm so sorry... Sylvie continued whimpering.
She knew her apologies were useless. They couldn't bring back Marilyn, neither could they take away the pain and guilt he's faced for years. But she couldn't just do nothing. The thought of losing him terrified her so much.
Kage walked away from her, heading for the door.

"Kage, please..." Sylvie turned on her knees to face the door's direction.
He stopped only a few feet from the door but didn't turn to look at her.

"I regret the day I met you," the words left his lips icily. "I wish you never came to Easton High, because then, we'd never have crossed paths and Marilyn would've still been alive."
He turned, giving her a partial look. "And then I wouldn't have to feel angry over the fact that I fell in love with you."
There was no emotion in his eyes as he spoke. Sylvie's heart completely shattered, the pain running deep.
She froze, her s***bs seizing abruptly.
His last words hit differently, they went all the way to the pit of her stomach and made her want to retch.
He turned and walked out the door. And as she watched him leave, she knew it was the end of her.

After a couple of hours-which was how long it took Sylvie to become calm enough to leave the house-she headed for his hotel..
She kept hoping he'd still be there.
"Oh..." His brows furrowed in surprise.

relieved for the first time in ten years to see his face.
She didn't let him finish before she struck him in the face-right on his nose.
"Ouch!" Lancelot yelped, st***ring back into the room.
Sylvie followed him, her eyes flashing with red.
She struck him again and was about delivering the third blow when he gripped hand.
"What the ***k is wrong with you!?" He growled, blood trickling down his nose.
In that moment, Sylvie wished she didn't have the bump in front of her. If only she wasn't pregnant, nobody would've been able to stop her from killing Lancelot. She sn***hed her hand from his grip and reached for the bottle of wine on
the table.
"Hey! Lancelot shouted at her.
He'd never seen Sylvie look that frightening before. It was almost as if she wasn't thinking but only acting.
"You told him," her voice was like ice. "Now, he hates me. So, there's no need to be a good girl and let you live."

She smashed the bottle against the wall, holding onto the part with a sharp edge.
"Woah! Woah! You really need to calm down, Sylvie!" Lancelot held up his hands as she came towards him. "Drop that, and let's talk about this."
"There's nothing to talk about," her eyes were cold and filled with a mix of pain and hatred. "If I don't have him anymore, there's no point talking about anything."
She went for him, ready to strike him with the sharp edge of the bottle, but Lancelot was fast enough to grip her hand and wrestle her until he got the weapon out. Then, he shoved her back. 15:31 Wed, Oct 23

You better get it together, 'cause I wouldn't wanna hurt you!" He yelled, angrily.
Sylvie was panting.
"Now, what the **k were you csaying? I didn't tell Kage nothing! Kage and I haven't spoken to each other since two days ago when you went missing!"
Really?" Sylvie chu chuckled,
dumb,
though her eyes told a different story. So, how did he get the recording, then? Did he steal it from you while you were asleep?"
"What the..." "Lancelot stuttered, his brows furrowed in confusion. "The only person I've sent that recording to you is you, Sylvie! Yes I was mad when I heard you ran away from home, but if I'd given Kage the recording, I'd have lost my only leverage against you. I'm not Sylvie. I haven't gotten what I wanted yet, why would I give up the only piece of evidence I have?" Silence settled between them, Sylvie's eyes still glaring daggers at him.
With the back of his hand, he wiped some of the blood on his nose. If there was anything his response did, it was to infuriate Sylvie even more
"He played the recording on his phone to my hearing," her voice dripped with disdain. "YOU made the recording, Lancelot. You sent it to me. So, how else did he get it?" I have
"Well,
no idea, okay!? You should know me by now, Sylvie I don't stutter for people's pleasure. If I had done it, I'd have told you the moment you threw the first punch." Sylvie's hands balled into fists beside her. She turned away, the storm in her heart doing nothing to subside.
She still wanted to kill Lancelot, but he was right. If he'd truly done it, he wouldn't deny it but would rather rub it in her face.

But if he didn't, how did Kage get the recording? Someone must've sent it to him.
She turned back to Lancelot, a fresh wave elf anger crashing through her.
"Someone must've taken it from your phone." She shoved him in the chest. "It's still your fault! You did this!"
Tve been in here for two days, Sylvie! The only time I've stepped out was to get fresh drinks, and not even once did I meet an acquaintance who could've taken my phone, unlocked it and gone through my recordings without me noticing. So, no-l didn't do this. She gritted her teeth, her temper not dissolving any time soon. Kage had definitely gotten that recording from someone. But if it wasn't herself or Lancelot, how then did it happen?
