Chapter 194
**Elizabeth's POV**
According to my observation for many days, at 12 pm, the warriors standing guard would relieve their posts.
Once it was time for the change of guard, the previous group of warriors would leave immediately, while the next group of warriors in charge of the guard would slowly walk over after a while.
This gap was the best time for me to escape.
I had already figured out the escape route. The reason why I hadn't implemented the plan was that I didn't know where I could go after leaving the vampire's territory.
If the outside is more dangerous than the vampire's territory, I would rather stay here.
But Louis' excessive behavior made me realize that vampire territory was already a dangerous place for me. I had to go.
Just today, I'm going to run away.
I take a dress and a few cookies, and that's all the luggage I have.
When the time came, I quietly left the room.
I tried to behave like I was on a normal walk. I even smiled and said hello to the fat chef when I met her. No one realized I was trying to escape.
When I reached the unguarded gate, I picked up my pace and sprinted out.
I was free!
I saw several warriors in the distance who were coming to change shifts to stand guard, walking slowly toward the gate, and I ran wildly at once.
It seemed to take a while for the warriors to spot my back, and they shouted, "Someone's escaped!"
"Catch her!"
I ran forward recklessly, just as my parents had told me to run when I was 8 years old. This huge belly slowed me down. I heard the sounds of vampire warriors getting closer to me.
Damn, vampires are notoriously agile. They can fly!
Luckily it was daytime. Under the influence of the hot noon sun, vampires cannot fly at full speed.
As I ran, the more I felt the itch on my back. It occurred to me, is it possible that the power of Dylan's spell was wearing off and my wings were coming back?
I tried to let the wings on my back grow out. The first few attempts failed. Just as the vampire behind me was two meters away, my shoulder blades quickly extended outward, piercing my clothes and sprouting a huge pair of wings.
I took flight.
"Oh my god! She sprouted wings!"
"Damn, why is she flying so fast? We can't catch up with her! Shoot her with arrows now!"
"No! King Louis ordered not to hurt her!"
"But she's going to fly away! The king will blame us for not bringing her back!"
"Give me the lasso!"
The sound of conversation behind me made me more and more anxious. I knew I must not be taken back. Once I was taken back, they would put me in a cage and guard me closely in the future. I would never have a chance to escape.
So I flapped my wings desperately and flew forward. If the vampire warriors could not catch up with me, they would be scolded and even beaten, while if I were caught up, I would lose my freedom and dignity for the rest of my life.
In such a situation, I burst out with unprecedented speed, shaking off the vampires who were known for their agility.
Only after I felt I had put a long distance between me and the vampires did I dare to look back.
Great, I can't see them anymore. I think I managed to escape.
A smile finally returned to my face after so many days. I had finally regained my freedom.
Suddenly, a sharp pain came from my left wing. An arrow pierced my wing.
I looked down in horror and found a lot of people aiming at me with bows and arrows. They looked to be werewolves.
Damn it, the werewolves of the Blood Moon Pack!
Countless arrows flew toward me. I was already exhausted from flying in my escape. I couldn't avoid all of the arrows.
Within a few seconds, I was stabbed by two more arrows in my wings.
I could only use the last of my strength and landed on the ground. I couldn't continue flying in the sky, it would be too obvious. I would be like a slow-moving target to them.
I retracted my wings, ran frantically with my legs, and kept looking for cover.
Suddenly, a huge garbage bin came into view.
I covered the wound on my wing to keep the blood from dripping down to the ground. Then I opened the lid of the garbage bin and climbed inside.
The garbage bin was very smelly, but I would rather endure the stench than be grabbed by the cruel guys of the Blood Moon pack.
After a while, the sound of footsteps came from outside, along with the sound of conversation.
"Are you sure the woman ran in this direction?"
"Yes, I'm sure... hmm, maybe, probably, she ran in this direction. That's what a lot of people said."
A loud slap came, and I think the one who answered got hit.
"Dumbass! Don't mislead me by talking nonsense if you're not sure! We've been chasing after that woman for so long without seeing her! Do you know what will happen if you lose her?"
"I'm sorry..."
"Alpha has asked us to spy on her for so many days. That's enough to see how much Alpha cares about her! This woman stays with the vampire king every day, we have no chance to kill her. This time she took the initiative to escape. This is the best chance to catch her!"
"I'm so sorry. She is wounded. She must not be able to run far. There are all our pack members around here, she can't escape."
"You'd better pray to the Moon Goddess that she can't escape. Otherwise, the Alpha will be angry and kill us for sure. You know, the baby in that woman's belly is related to Alpha's bet with the vampire king. "
