Chapter 10 — Deja

Kids are everywhere—the living room, the back, and the hallway. The noise level hasn't gone below thunder for what Malik swears has been well over two hours now. It's Jasmine's third birthday party, and the condo is packed with nothing but love.

He makes his way into the kitchen to refill a pitcher of juice. Just a split second of quiet amidst the limited chaos is all Malik needed. Malik's back is turned to the doorway, filling the pitcher when he hears Gabrielle behind him.

"There are so many people here. Where all these people come from, baby?" Gabrielle leans against Malik. "They must have seen my post on IG."

"Yeah, well. I'm glad people could make it." Malik finishes filling up the pitcher, dropping a tray of ice cubes inside.

"You're doing okay with everything, I see."

Malik laughs and isn't comfortable around people—even if it is just family. He's reserved. "Yeah, it's all good. A bit crazy out there but as long as nothing is broke yet, we'll be okay."

They're quiet as Gabrielle gets herself lemonade. Malik watches everything going on through the doorway; Jasmine running top speed hollering with DeShawn close on her heels while kids and parents are trailing right behind them.

Malik turns to say something to Gabrielle but she stops him. Gabrielle looks at Malik telling him to be quiet. She locks the kitchen door and unbuttons his jeans.

"Gabrielle—"

Malik doesn't know what to say as Gabrielle lowers his jeans, leaning forward. Malik's eyes widen and Gabrielle pauses for a second before wetting her lips.

"You just relax baby and let mommy take care of things around here," Gabrielle said as Malik gives in and lets her work her magic.
