Chapter 47
“I love you, damn it,” he mutters into Brody’s mouth.
Brody grins against his lips. “Love you, too, fuck it all.”
Gavin laughs. “Do we really have to finish the wine? Or can’t we just put a cork in it and call it a night? Because I want you in me, and now.”
“We have to finish what’s in the glasses,” Brody says, reaching for the wine glasses abandoned on the table. He hands Gavin one and keeps the other. “We can’t just pour it back. Most people don’t fill them up so much.”
“No problem.” Gavin tosses back his wine, emptying the glass in one long swallow. Brody’s still downing his when Gavin stands. He tucks himself back into his jeans, wincing at the warm wetness in his briefs, but he won’t be in them for much longer. Recorking the wine, he holds a hand out to his lover and asks, “Ready?”
Brody swoons as he stands, and laughs. “Straight to my head,” he says, placing a hand against his temple as if to keep it from reeling. “Lead the way.”
Gavin helps him into the living room, then leaves Brody to close and lock the sliding doors as he takes the wine and now empty glasses into the kitchen. When Gavin rejoins Brody, he catches his lover in a tight embrace to steal a passionate kiss, pinning Brody against the nearest wall. “I could take you right here,” he murmurs against Brody’s neck. His hands unsnap the fly on Brody’s boxers and ease inside to cup his lover’s thick dick.
“Not here.” Somehow Brody manages to turn his face away from Gavin’s insistent kiss. Gavin latches onto his earlobe instead, suckling and thrusting against him, rubbing the erection in his shorts. But Brody’s hands come up between them, holding Gavin at bay. In a loud whisper, he says, “Evie’s door is open.”
“Just a hair.” Gavin glances down the hall—the door is cracked the way he left it when he tucked her in. Still, if she hears them, she might come take a look, and he doesn’t want that. Reluctantly he pulls away, but not far, catching Brody’s wrist in his hand to lead his lover to their bedroom. He places a finger against his lips for an exaggerated, “Shh.”
Brody snickers and they tiptoe to their bedroom. The door is also partially shut, and Gavin steps into the darkened room as Brody closes the door completely behind them. With his hands out in front of him, Gavin stumbles in the dark to the bed, then finds the table and almost knocks the lamp over trying to turn it on.
When a golden glow diffuses across the room, he steps back in surprise. Their bed isn’tempty—Evie’s already tucked herself in the same spot she slept the night before.
“Damn it,” he swears softly.
Coming up behind him, Brody hugs Gavin and leans into him. “Let her sleep. But I’m serious—next time, we come alone.”
Gavin can’t help but nod. “Agreed.” 36
They could use Evie’s room, but Gavin doesn’t want to take the chance of her waking up and switching beds again. Besides, it’s getting late, and it hasbeen a long day. The wine starts to hit him pretty hard, too. By the time he’s changed into boxers and T-shirt and brushed his teeth, his eyes can barely stay open. The moment his head hits the pillow, Gavin feels even drowsier than before. The last thing he remembers is Brody snuggling up close behind him.
Then he’s out like a light.
Hours pass in minutes, and the next thing he knows, the bed is shaking beneath him as he struggles awake. Groggily, he rubs at his eyes and mutters, “What the hell…”
“Aww, Daddy,” Evie chides as she climbs over him to plop down on the pillow next to his. “You said the—“
“H-word, I know.” He sits up on his elbows and blinks in the bright sunlight streaming through the open blinds. The balcony door is open, and the sound of crashing waves mingles with cries of seagulls and distant traffic. “Why’s the door open? Where’s Brody?”
Evie jumps up and down beside him. “Happy Father’s Day!”
He tries not to wince as her voice creeps up several octaves. “Thanks, sweetie. Where—“
“Here’s your present.” Reaching behind her, she pulls out a wrapped gift and drops it heavily on his chest. “Open it!”
He scoots back a little to sit up better. The present is identical in shape and size to a picture frame—Gavin should know, he helped Brody sell enough of them yesterday. Starting at one corner, he picks at the tape and yawns in an attempt to wake himself up a bit more. “Thank you, honey.”
Evie scrapes her fingers over the present as if eager to help him rip into the wrapping. “Open it!” she shrieks.
