Chapter Twenty-Two — Exposed

Will’s POV:

Yesterday was one of the best moments of my life. Irene confessed her feelings for me and that was all I needed to hear to find myself again. I can’t believe Davis or Megan were behind all the fight we had. I hope my plan of finding out what they are up to works. I already had Ike put a recording bug in their offices.

“Hi Love” Megan said as she walked into my office.

“Oh, Hi” I replied. The thought of her plotting with Davis against I and Irene is really infuriating.

“Baby we need to talk about the things to get for the engagement party. If it’s holding in 3 weeks then we need to start planning now, I already spoke to my mum about it"

“You spoke to your mum?” I scoffed “Look, I wasn’t very sure about all I said yesterday. That whole engagement thing would have to be on hold for a while” I replied.

“What! Will what is your problem. You can’t just say whatever or do whatever you feel like at the expense of another’s trust.” She said angrily.

“That’s all I have to say for now. We’ll talk later” I said. The seriousness in my voice made it obvious I wanted her to get out and thankfully she did. I needed to gaslight her and see who she was going to call or what she was going to say. Immediately she left I got my ear plug to listen to what she was going to say in her office after a few minutes I heard the sound of door to her office, I guess she just got in. I wonder why she closed the door, I guess she was expecting someone.

I heard her make a call to someone asking the person to come to her office so they could talk. After some minutes, the person arrived.

“Hey, what's the emergency.” It was Davis’ voice.

“Why are you relenting? Don’t you want her for yourself anymore? You have to do all you can to make them hate each other so much” Megan’s voice.

“Of course I want her, even though she rejected me. What happened? Did he call off the engagement,” came Davis’s voice.

“No, he didn’t. He put it on hold and that’s a very bad sign it means he could end it anytime and I wouldn’t want that,” Megan’s said.

“So what do we do now? The only solution to you keeping him and making Irene hate him so much is if you can have sex with him and get pregnant or give him a drink that’s been drugged and have sex with him then fake a pregnancy or get pregnant for real,” Davis replied.

“Hmm, that sounds like a perfect plan. But you would have to do the same with Irene,” Megan said.

“Yes. Definitely. I would try to get her to go on another dinner with me. It should be easy to carry out,” Davis said.

The moment I heard this I lost it completely and threw the earplugs away. ‘Do the same with Irene’?? My Irene? He was going to be wicked enough to drug the innocent girl and rape her. These people are inhumane and I am glad that they got exposed.

While I was still boiling with rage and thinking of what next to do Irene busted into my office crying. She also had her ear plugs and she must have heard everything. I’m so thankful we were able to hear all their ridiculous plans before they carried it out.

“Why? Why are they so wicked?” she said with tears flowing down her face.

“I’m sorry you had to hear all of that. I promise you they will never hurt you” I said as I drew her into a tight hug.

Now I had to come up with a perfect plan. First of all I am going to have Ike publish an article saying that the engagement has been cancelled and we both don’t love each other so we would be going our separate ways. After that I will be breaking up with Megan officially today.

I comforted Irene for a while and urged her to go back to her office and prepare for the presentation she had, I promised her she was safe and nothing bad was going to happen to her.

I’m glad The presentation got rescheduled, I can’t imagine Irene presenting to the executives with the thought of all Davis said while he was seated there and watching her. I mean, not when she was in a state filled with so much fear and anxiety. I told her to avoid him and if he happens to still be all up in her face she has to control the anger she feels and not tell Davis anything about what we know and just play along and avoid taking drinks or anything from him. In few minutes time the news would be all over the internet that I and Megan are no longer together. I’m pretty sure Megan will come running to my office when she sees it. She didn’t deserve hearing it directly from me, I realized how evil she is after what I heard.

My phone didn’t stop ringing after the news went viral, same way it didn’t when I announced the engagement. I checked to see my dad was now calling. There’s no way I was going to answer his call. He would shout and not even let me speak.

“What is the meaning of this?” Megan shouted as she stormed into my office pointing her phone at my face.

“What do you think it is?” I replied.

“This is how you really want this? You didn’t even think to tell me! And you’re willing to lose everything all because of that girl” she asked.

“What girl, the one who’s in a relationship with Davis?” I replied.

The look on her face changed to a calm one. And that was what I wanted her to believe that I and Irene were not together and calling the engagement off was simply because of something else.

“So why do you want out all of a sudden? I am not ready for whatever responsibility comes with being engaged or in a relationship with someone I do not love. I need a long break from all that relationship stuff” I said.

“It’s fine Will. I understand” she said as she walked out.
