Chapter 125 125.Jewelries
Tabitha’s POV
Celeste sweetly smiles at Luca before placing the necklace on a velvet pad, totally ignoring me. She lifts a branded box and fits the necklace inside. She closes the lid and slides the box into a shopping bag behind the counter.
After that, she turns back to us without acknowledging me. In fact, her gaze skips over me and lands on Jace.
“You know what? We just received a new line of rings,” she beams. “I think they will sit well on long fingers.”
Jace lifts his hand. “You hear that?” he says, smugly glancing at Reed. “Long fingers.”
Celeste laughs and picks a transparent jewelry box containing a rack of men’s rings. She steps closer to Jace and grins.
“You could try one, Mr. Aldair. Long fingers like yours… it would be a shame not to find the perfect accessory.”
While Jace is busy observing the rings, Celeste moves to Reed next. The same cheshire smile is still carved on her lips. She gestures to a nearby case.
“We also have new gold chain necklaces that just arrived,” she says. “They pair well with formal wear and with the bracelet you’re already wearing.”
Reed hums and leans closer to the glass. “Show me,” he orders.
She unlocks the case and lays a few pieces on the counter. She talks to him while her eyes stay on his face.
I am grinding my teeth so hard I don’t even notice it until Evren steps closer to me. “Do you want to look at earrings?” he offers.
“Uh, earrings… yeah! Sure.”
I nod and follow him to another display. I scan the rows and try to decide. I remind myself of the reason why we came here. Jewelries! That’s right. Forget about that bitchy shopper, let’s get me and my mom some accessories.
But my eyes are such sluts, they betray me. I glance over and watch how Celeste picks up a ring and slides it onto Jace's finger.
“This shape suits your hand,” she says while stroking Jace’s hand more than necessary.
Jace snatches his hand away and removes the ring. “I don’t like it.” Then, he boredly flings the ring back to the rack. Celeste's upbeat smile melts right away.
“Tabi?” Evren calls for me again.
“Y-Yeah…” I take a breath and force myself to focus on the display in front of me.
“These pearl studs might work with my mom’s dress,” I say, lifting a pair and holding them up to Evren. “They feel formal enough without trying too hard. I think she said she wanted something simple since her dress was already doing too much.”
Evren nods. “It’s classy.”
“Yeah. Or maybe this one…” I slide out another tray and lift a stud earring with a slim gold chain and two small pearls at the end. The pearls hang one after the other and catch the light when I tilt it. “I don’t know, I can just see her wearing this. And she prefers stud earrings, anyway.”
Evren studies it for a moment. “That suits her,” he agrees.
Luca strides towards us and looks from the tray to me. “You should pick something for yourself too.”
“Huh… I’m not sure what else to get for myself.”
Luca reaches toward the women’s collection and taps the edge of another display.
“Take something that works with the sapphire necklace. You need earrings that match it, not clash with it.”
“Like these,” Evren suggests, pointing at a pair of elegant sapphire teardrop earrings framed with tiny white diamonds that sparkle softly against the silver setting.
Beautiful!
“Wow, you guys are really good at this.”
“Please, we attend formal gatherings every month since we were born. And when our mom was still alive, we used to accompany her to shop for accessories too,” Luca says, smiling.
“Okay, Mr. Expert.” I laugh as I try on the earrings. “They’re gorgeous! I think I’ll take this one too.”
I pick a few more pieces, a necklace and a pair of earrings for my mom, then a bracelet that reminds me of the heels she liked earlier—although I’m quite sure she’s gonna end up buying a completely different one. But I hope she’d still like what I get her.
“Aren’t you going to pick something for yourselves too?” I ask Luca and Evren who have been just intently gazing at me since earlier.
“Nah, maybe next time.” Luca shakes his head.
“What? Are you sure? There are plenty of choices in the men’s collection over there!” I turn to Evren as well. “How about you?”
Evren simply shakes his head. “I’m good.”
My eyes drift to Celeste who is still busying herself with the other two brothers. Jace is standing in front of the mirror while trying on a fancy-looking watch while Celeste is hovering behind him. Celeste does not come over. She stays with Jace and Reed, laughing softly while Jace slips a ring on and off his finger as if trying to find something that will match his new watch. Reed is also scanning through the fine selection of chain jewelries.
“Add this too,” Luca says, pointing at a thin chain bracelet for me. “It’ll look good on you.”
“But I’ve already bought too much.”
Luca chuckles. “You don’t have to wear everything tonight. Just keep it and wear it whenever you feel like it.”
I nod. “Okay.” I glance at Evren. “What do you think?”
“It works. You should get it,” he says.
