Chapter 86
To pull off this mission, Sophia knew she had to blend in. So, after leaving the police station, she ditched her car and flagged down a cab.
Once inside, she caught a glimpse of herself in the rearview mirror. The heavy makeup was a far cry from her usual look. She sighed, thinking about the lengths she had to go for this case.
"Sunflower Lane, please," she told the driver.
"Sure thing, miss," he replied, and they were off.
As the cab weaved through the city, Sophia's mind was already on the mission ahead. About thirty minutes later, they reached Sunflower Lane. The place was buzzing with neon lights and people, making it look like daytime.
Traffic was a mess, barely moving. The driver turned to her and said, "How about I drop you here? I'll charge you less."
Sophia saw the gridlock and agreed. "Alright, thanks."
After paying, she stepped out and scanned the area. Once she was sure everything was clear, she put on a small earpiece and whispered, "Frank, we good?"
"All set, Captain," came Frank's voice.
"Where's Henry?" she asked.
"He's in the red-light district up ahead. Walk 300 feet and take the back alley."
Sophia nodded and started walking, swaying her hips to blend in. She passed a convenience store and pretended to go in for cigarettes. The store owner gave her a creepy look and groped her. "How much for a session, miss?"
Sophia's heart raced, but then she heard a familiar voice. "What, you touching my woman? You got a death wish?"
Henry appeared, pulling her close. "Didn't I pay you enough? Why are you out here?"
Sophia was taken aback but quickly played along. "I just wanted a walk."
"I don't believe you," Henry said, leading her out.
Once outside, he whispered, "Sophia, I told you to stay back. Why are you here?"
"I was worried," she replied.
Henry sighed but then noticed a nervous man with a black briefcase approaching. He couldn't push Sophia away without blowing their cover.
"Thanks for your concern. Let's do this together," he whispered.
Sophia linked her arm with Henry's, and they approached the man. "Hey man, you looking for the real deal?" Henry asked.
The man looked panicked but nodded. "Yeah, is it convenient?"
Henry signaled him to follow. They navigated through the alleys until they reached a secluded spot. Sophia quickly cuffed the man's wrists. He tried to run, but Henry kicked him down.
The man groaned, his face a mix of fear and confusion.
