Chapter 278
Chapter 278
"Uncle Isaac, you created this mess, so you have to fix it." Briar's tone was firm.
Isaac was furious and said bluntly, "when did I ever say I got involved in their business? Briar, you're deliberately trying to pin this on me, aren't you?"
"The Moore Group—if you want to go, go yourself. After all, you're the one sitting in the CEO's chair now, not me."
Isaac hung up the phone and glanced coldly at his cell phone. Did she really think being a woman in the CEO position made her so great?
It was only because people from their generation had given it to her.
Briar threw a huge fit in her office.
Her assistant stood nearby, not daring to make a sound.
At the Moore Group, Riley was also discussing the Scott Group situation with Matthew.
"Mr. Moore, are we really canceling everything?"
"We've already minimized the losses on our end, but the amount is still pretty significant."
Hearing this, Matthew didn't even furrow his brow. "The Scott Group will lose even more than us."
Riley nodded at this, "that's right."
"You can go." Matthew glanced at Riley. He didn't have that much time to mess around with these people—he still needed to finish work and go home to be with Isabella.
Meanwhile, Isabella was doing prenatal yoga at home.
But since Faye hadn't been home lately, she found it boring being alone, so she decided to take classes outside.
She went to a private yoga class with a nice environment where she could chat with people. Isabella found it quite enjoyable.
"Are you having twins?"
Someone looked at Isabella's belly.
Isabella smiled gently, "yes. You must be about five or six months along?"
The woman smiled, "I'm seven months."
Isabella was surprised, "you've managed to control it so well?"
The physical changes after pregnancy—only pregnant women themselves truly understood. She was happy to be having a child, and twins at that.
But her increasingly expanding belly still made her feel somewhat anxious.
Fortunately, she hadn't started getting stretch marks on her belly yet. Isabella felt anxious inside—she didn't dare think about what she'd do if stretch marks appeared later.
The woman noticed Isabella's anxiety and said gently, "the health of the mother and baby comes first."
"And if you take good preventive measures, you won't get that many stretch marks. Even if you do get them, there are ways to treat them now."
People who could afford classes here all had good financial situations—she felt there was no need to worry so much.
Isabella was comforted by the smile on the woman's face. "Actually, I'm mentally prepared."
"But I still can't help feeling nervous."
As they chatted, they started talking about their families. Isabella knew this was also a form of socializing.
When she introduced herself, she was somewhat vague.
The others exchanged glances but didn't say anything.
When Isabella came out of the yoga studio, her bodyguard immediately came forward.
Isabella suddenly felt like eating something sweet, so she walked directly to another building.
After buying a blueberry cake, she saw three people sitting in the café across the street.
Briar and Faye were sitting face to face.
A man was sitting next to Faye.
Could it be Faye's romantic interest?
As for Briar, she still felt disgusted. She didn't believe Briar had nothing to do with what Mia had done.
Isabella's mood suddenly soured.
She didn't want to take it out on Faye, so she turned and left.
After getting in the car, she had the bodyguard drive her directly to the Moore Group.
"Mrs. Moore." Isabella ran into Rhett as soon as she entered.
Isabella smiled lightly, "go ahead with your work."
She went to the CEO's office. Matthew had gone to a meeting, so Isabella sat on the sofa and started eating her cake.
Feeling a bit bored alone, Isabella pulled up a TV drama to watch.
When Matthew returned, Isabella didn't even notice—she was too absorbed in watching.
It wasn't until Matthew picked her up and held her that Isabella looked at him innocently, "done with work?"
Matthew shook his head, "still have a bit of wrapping up to do."
He looked at the cake on the table, and Isabella fed him a spoonful directly.
Matthew didn't refuse. Instead, he smiled lightly, "delicious."
"Why did you come to the office?"
"Was it too boring at home?"
Isabella nodded, "it was a bit boring. I was originally doing yoga at home, but I switched to the mall."
"I ran into Faye at the mall too."
Matthew's eyes flickered slightly. He understood Isabella—something must have happened.
"What about her?"
He picked up the conversation naturally, which made Isabella feel comfortable, and she spoke her mind.
"I saw Faye with two people."
"One was Briar, and the other was a man—probably the guy she mentioned having a thing with."
When he heard Briar's name, Matthew's brow furrowed too. "I'll talk to her about this."
"The Moore Group and the Scott Group's partnership is about to be canceled. If Faye keeps hanging out with Briar, she'll be eaten alive without even bones left."
Isabella was curious—could a partnership between two groups be canceled so easily?
"Did the Scott family do something?"
Matthew gently stroked Isabella's back and said softly, "when I was abroad, the Scott family sent people there too."
"How can the Scott family do this?" Isabella was very angry that the Scott family would go after Matthew so ruthlessly while they still had a partnership.
No wonder Matthew wanted to cancel the partnership with the Scott family—she thought he was right to do so.
"Matthew, I support you."
Seeing her smiling face, Matthew found her adorable and kissed Isabella on the lips.
Isabella shyly pulled away.
Since Matthew came back, they hadn't been intimate.
Both of them felt some heat inside.
Matthew's throat moved, and he said in a suppressed voice, "can we?"
Isabella looked at Matthew coyly—of course they could.
And after getting pregnant, her body had become more sensitive. But asking her to say "yes" in the office felt somewhat inappropriate.
She gently pushed Matthew.
"This is the office. Get to work, and we'll go home together later."
Matthew's dark eyes showed a hint of disappointment. He buried his head in Isabella's neck, took a deep breath, and then let her go.
"Okay, wait for me."
Without Matthew's warmth, Isabella felt a bit uncomfortable. She watched Matthew work, thinking—this handsome man is my husband.
Isabella's mood immediately improved.
But waiting got a bit boring, and Isabella dozed off on the sofa.
When she woke up, there was a blanket over her. Seeing Matthew still staring at the computer, Isabella didn't make a sound and planned to get up to get some water.
"I'll get it."
Matthew seemed to have eyes in the back of his head. Seeing Isabella get up, he immediately came over and took the blanket.
Isabella sat back down, "are you still not done?"
Matthew smiled lightly, "we can go home now."
