Chapter 264
Chapter 264
"Are you stupid? Just because they say so, it's true?"
Hayes snorted coldly, "Everything needs evidence. As long as you question it, you can have the police investigate, and it won't delay you from handling your business at all."
Mireille chimed in, "Ava, you really shouldn't just sit there and take it. Not fighting back is exactly what Liam and the others want."
Faye still objected, "That's your solution? I thought you'd actually help my mom, but she still has to go to the company alone. Look, her leg hasn't even healed yet."
Hayes immediately shot back at Faye, "Faye, look at yourself right now. You have no manners at all. Ava and I are siblings. I would never harm her!"
Faye scoffed lightly.
Ava looked at Hayes, "Father said to let me stay away from the company for now. Like Faye said, my leg isn't well. Even if I go to the company, I can't do much. Liam and the others have been guarding against me. I can't have anything else happen, or Faye and Isabella will be in danger."
"Ava, you're confused."
Hayes looked at Ava dramatically.
"No matter what, Liam is Hayden's son. Now that Matthew is gone, of course he wants the company to fall into Liam and his son's hands. Ava, you can't be confused at a time like this."
Ava looked at Hayes with difficulty, "Hayes, you're not in my position. You don't know how hard this is for me. Father wouldn't harm us."
"Ava, do you think we would harm you?" Mireille immediately seized the opportunity to speak.
She gripped Ava's hand tightly, "Ava, you can't be too passive. If you really don't want to go to the Moore Group, you can't ignore Wisdom Light Medical Laboratory. If you find it difficult, you can let us help you."
Faye sneered, "Uncle Hayes, that's your real purpose, isn't it? Isabella has already given Wisdom Light Medical Laboratory to someone trustworthy to manage. Stop thinking about it."
Hayes and Mireille immediately glared at Faye unhappily. If Ava wasn't there watching, they would have wanted to hit Faye.
The two quickly reacted, "Ava, listen to what Faye is saying. We're trying to help you."
Ava said calmly, "Your intentions are good. But Isabella is Matthew's wife, and Wisdom Light Medical Laboratory is Matthew's property. It's reasonable for Isabella to have someone manage it."
Hayes's expression changed immediately, "Ava, you don't trust me? I heard that Isabella has Cordelia managing Wisdom Light Medical Laboratory, and Cordelia is from the Morris family. Have you thought about the consequences?"
Hayes looked like he was disappointed in them, and if you didn't know better, you'd think he was really looking out for them.
Isabella said quietly, "Uncle Hayes, Cordelia is indeed from the Morris family. But she doesn't have a good relationship with the Morris family, and Grandpa and Mom being able to wake up is largely thanks to Cordelia. I trust her character."
Faye quickly added, "I trust her too. Not everyone is heartless."
Isabella agreed with Faye's words, but when Hayes and his wife heard them, it sounded like they were being targeted.
Both of them had dark expressions and said nothing, just staring at Ava, as if wanting her to take their side.
Seeing them like this, Isabella found it quite funny. She thought Hayes and Liam were very similar—both spoiled by others.
Faye felt disgusted seeing Hayes like this. She wanted to say something, but seeing that Isabella wasn't speaking, she didn't either. She also wanted to see what Ava was really thinking.
At this moment, Ava stared at Hayes and Mireille, feeling a wave of sadness. All her expectations for family were gone.
"You should go."
"Ava!" Hayes was somewhat unwilling. He had finally made it to the Moore family, and he couldn't just leave without achieving his goal, "Ava, you won't let me help you and don't consider me family, but Liam and the others treat me like an enemy. You can't ignore me."
Ava frowned slightly, "Give up on Wisdom Light Medical Laboratory. If you need money, I can still give you a few million dollars now."
"What can a few million dollars do? You're willing to give so many Moore Group shares to Liam, Ava, is something wrong with your brain?"
Hayes said in exasperation.
Mireille's look at Ava wasn't kind either.
Ava finally laughed in anger, "You say you care about me—is this how you care? You should leave. If you disturb Father, it won't be something I can handle."
Hayes and Mireille's expressions changed. They had forgotten that Hayden was still living here, and they hadn't been quiet when talking just now.
Their expressions were somewhat complicated.
Before leaving, Mireille acted as if nothing had happened, "Ava, we were just anxious. Don't take it to heart. We'll come see you another day."
As soon as they left, Ava tiredly rubbed her temples. Thinking about Hayes and his wife's expressions when they left, Faye was also angry.
"Mom! Wake up. You and Uncle Hayes both have your own families now. With Mireille stirring things up between you, your relationship can never be like it was before."
Ava frowned at Faye, "Faye, you went too far today."
"Mom!"
"How did I go too far? Wasn't Uncle Hayes more excessive? He said he came to see you, but all he talked about was the company. You can't give them money. Our situation is still difficult now, we don't have time to deal with them."
Faye held a deep grudge against the Wilson family.
Seeing that Ava wasn't doing well, Isabella quickly tugged at Faye's sleeve.
But Faye was too angry and kept complaining.
In the end, Isabella had no choice.
Ava got angry too and went to take the elevator herself, not wanting Faye to push her upstairs.
Seeing that Ava was still angry with her because of Hayes, Faye felt even more upset and didn't chase after her at all.
Isabella could only glance at the servant, who quickly followed.
"Decades of feelings aren't so easy to let go of."
Isabella comforted Faye.
Faye cried in frustration, "But there should be some limits. What time is it now? I really don't understand why my mom usually seems so rational, but when it comes to Uncle Hayes, she always gets taken advantage of."
Isabella said gently, "Different perspectives, I guess. Don't be sad. The one who's most upset right now should be Mom."
