Chapter 159 A Thought

Chapter 159 A Thought
Bri

“Okay, so what, you think Chris set me up?” Nicole looked at me like she was trying to process what I'd revealed.

“Yes, that makes sense with what you told me. He never went after you. Those men were waiting for you in the park. No missing persons report was filed, and they never did anything. Now, part could just be them being shitty humans, but since I saw them with Dekon, I'm sure they were in on it.” She sat down heavily on the couch, and both Sean and Bishop sat on either side of her.

“Sean, can you check and see if her stepfamily or Chris received any type of financial compensation after she was taken? If there is some type of recruiting thing going on, it might be a way for us to trace Dekon. If both Chris and his dad were personally with Dekon, either he knew them already, or he was recruiting them to find him more women, as they had already done it before. Chris was going to college; that is the perfect environment for him to troll for victims. So, that makes me think perhaps that is one of the missing links we have been searching for. If they are recruiting college guys to find vulnerable girls for them, this could be a way to help hunt them down.” Everyone just looked at me.

“Holy shit, Bri, you’re right. I’m not sure why we never thought of it before. College-aged girls would be the prime age group if they were looking for breeders. Also, the girls are away from their families, so it would be easier to get away without someone coming and looking for them too quickly. Also, lots of college kids have no one or are in new areas, and all of that makes them vulnerable.” I nodded, although I’d never been to college.

“Nicole, I’m sure you have talked to both of them about what happened and all of that. Sit back down with Sean and let him ask you specific questions and see if perhaps there are things you never thought of that might lead us in the right direction. It’s highly possible you saw far more than you ever realized you did.” She nodded and grabbed Sean’s hand.

“Okay, well, I’ll take them back over to the control center and let them look around with some things. If we find some leads, I can send out some of my enforcers to follow up on some of the campuses.” Bishop was rubbing his chin like he was thinking about stuff, and then they got up and left the house together.

Both of my mates nuzzled into me. “God, you are so damn sexy when you are all smart and showing off that beautiful brain of yours.” I laughed when Armond said that.

We heard the babies fuss from upstairs. I had known they would be awake soon, and Nicole had planned to help me with them, so instead Allan and Armond came with me to get them. We put them in their high chairs and got them some breakfast. Then sat with them around the table to have breakfast ourselves, or what we could manage while trying to feed very hungry, energetic babies.
Once they were fed and cleaned up, we took them into the living room. We’d taken to setting up a baby area for them that was basically fenced in with a large round baby gate thing. It gave them more room to move around and explore than a playpen, while still keeping them from getting into too much stuff. It was hard to watch three babies moving all over the place at the same time I had discovered. It would be even more interesting soon when we added newborns to the mix.

“I still think it would be good for us to start interviewing for a nanny. Once your hands are full with the newborns, it’s going to be a lot. Not that we have problems helping, but if I need to be at the office or the store, or if Allan needs to reopen The Bar, it would be hard for you. Nicole is here, but I know you didn’t want to make her feel that she had to be here with you, as they are now in their own place. Besides, with her now pregnant, there could come a time when she just can’t lend a hand anymore. Our moms love to help, so that’s an option as well.” I nodded.

We’d already been discussing this. With three already so young, and then adding two more, I would be too stretched thin, and I’d need lots of help. It made sense; I was just nervous about trusting someone to come in and help. I had thought of my mothers-in-law, but then I started to feel guilty about that. They had their own friends and things with both the Sect and Pack they wanted to do. So, if they were stuck here with me, it would make that more difficult. I didn’t have a problem with it sometimes, but they had already stepped up and spent quite a lot of time helping take care of the kids when I wasn’t here.

I took a deep breath and let it out. “I know, we need to find a nanny; that’s the best solution. I’m just nervous about trusting anyone in the house around all of them. I feel like I was duped so bad by Heather; I guess I’m having trouble feeling like I could trust anyone else.” They both nodded.

“We’ll make sure to thoroughly check them out and get good references. We’ll also plan to wait until we know that Dekon and his whole group are taken care of; that way there is no reason for anyone to try anything. Besides, Caleb is a good judge of character. He was the one who was crying upstairs when Heather came here. So, I personally think he felt something was off and was trying to get your attention the only way he knew how. He’s also been very quick to use his shield to make sure he and his sisters are safe. We know the new babies already can use a shield as well, so that helps.” I nodded again, and just relaxed when both of my mates snuggled me, trying to just relax for now.

With today, we were hopefully one step closer to taking care of this fucker, and then things would be safer all around for all of our families.
