35 - Rescuing Sarah
Tiffany sneered at Jason, her eyes glinting with malice. "You're not going anywhere," she said, pressing the knife against Sarah's throat.
Jason's eyes locked onto hers, his face tense with fear for his friend’s safety. "Let her go," he growled.
But before he could take another step, one of Tiffany's thugs emerged from the shadows, a gun pressed against Ethan's head.
"Not so fast," the thug sneered. "You're all coming with me."
Aiden and Lilly were quickly subdued as well, and the four of them were dragged away from Tiffany and Sarah.
The thug led them down a series of winding corridors, eventually stopping in front of a heavy metal door. He produced a key and unlocked it, revealing a cramped, dimly lit room.
"This is where you'll be staying," he sneered, pushing them inside.
The room was small and musty, with stone walls and a low ceiling. There was a single flickering light on the wall, casting eerie shadows around the room.
Jason's eyes adjusted slowly to the darkness, taking in the room's layout.
Lilly's eyes were wide with fear. "What is this place?"
Aiden rubbed his wrists, wincing at the rough metal cuffs. "I think we're in some kind of dungeon."
Jason's eyes never left Tiffany's direction, his mind racing with plans to escape and rescue Sarah.
The door slammed shut behind them, and they heard the sound of heavy iron bars dropping into place.
"We're trapped," Aiden whispered.
Jason's jaw clenched. "We'll find a way out. We have to get Sarah back."
As the four of them huddled together in the darkness, Lilly's eyes suddenly widened as she felt a strange sensation around her neck.
"Guys, I think I remember something," she whispered urgently.
"What is it?" Jason asked, his eyes scanning the room for any sign of escape.
"I think I'm still wearing the locket," Lilly said, her fingers feeling around her neck.
Ethan's eyes lit up. "That's it! I remember something my mom wrote in her journal about that locket."
"What is it?" Aiden asked, his voice full of hope.
Ethan explained. "According to my mom, there is a way to use its power to manipulate reality. If we can use it right, we might be able to escape."
Jason's eyes narrowed. "How do we use it?"
Ethan's eyes scanned his mind. "I think my mom wrote that the locket can move objects... if we concentrate hard enough."
Lilly's eyes shone with determination. "Let me try."
She closed her eyes, focusing all her energy on the locket. The air seemed to vibrate with tension as she concentrated, but nothing seemed to be happening. Ethan reached over and placed his hand on Lilly’s shoulder and began concentrating with her. The energy in the room doubled.
Ethan’s eyes widened, feeling the power running through him and Lilly, “This is going to take all of us.” He said as he motioned for them to help.
Jason and Aiden stepped closer placing a hand on Lilly and they tried to concentrate as hard as they could. Suddenly, a faint hum filled the room, and the heavy metal bars on the door began to shake and rattle.
"Yes!" Jason exclaimed. "We're doing it!"
The bars continued to shake, and with a final creak, they burst free from their hinges.
As they burst through the door, they found themselves in a long, winding corridor with stone walls and flickering torches. The air was musty and dank, and the sound of dripping water echoed through the passageway. The four of them stared at each other in amazement as they realized they had escaped their prison.
"We need to find Sarah and get out of here, now," Jason said.
They sprinted down the corridor, their footsteps echoing off the stone walls. As they ran, Lilly focused all her energy on the locket, trying to sense what it was telling her. The locket seemed to be glowing brighter and she could feel its power getting stronger the further down the corridor it went.
After a few minutes of running, they came to a large stone door with intricate carvings of ancient runes. Lilly closed her eyes and concentrated on the locket.
Suddenly, the door creaked open, revealing a hidden chamber deep within the tower. The room was filled with rows of ancient books and dusty scrolls, and a large wooden desk at the far end of the room seemed to be covered in ancient artifacts.
"Wow," Aiden breathed. "This is incredible."
Jason's eyes scanned the room, his mind racing with possibilities. "We need to find Sarah and get out of here before Tiffany shows up."
Lilly nodded; her eyes still fixed on the locket. "I think I can sense something... a hidden passage or a secret door."
Ethan's eyes lit up. "Maybe there's a way out through one of these books or scrolls."
The four of them began to search the room, their hands moving quickly through the dusty tomes and ancient texts. As they searched, Lilly's eyes continued to glow with an otherworldly light, as if she was using her connection to the locket to guide them...
As they searched the hidden chamber, Lilly's connection to the locket grew stronger. She could feel its power coursing through her veins, guiding her towards Sarah.
"Guys, I think I've found something," she whispered, her eyes fixed on a dusty old bookshelf.
Ethan and Aiden rushed over to join her, and together they pulled out a hidden panel in the bookshelf. Behind it was a small room, and inside, they found Sarah bound and gagged on a stone pedestal.
Lilly rushed to her friend's side, tears of relief streaming down her face. "Sarah, oh my god, we're here! We're going to get you out of here!"
Sarah's eyes flickered open, and she mouthed a silent thank you.
But their celebration was short-lived. They could hear Tiffany's voice echoing through the corridors, growing louder with every second.
"You fools," she spat. "You think you can outsmart me? I'll show you what real power looks like!"
The four of them stood back-to-back, ready to face Tiffany and whatever minions she had brought with her. But as they fought off the attackers, Lilly could feel the locket's power growing stronger. She could sense its ancient magic coursing through her veins, guiding her movements and amplifying her strength.
As they fought, they slowly pushed Tiffany back, inch by inch. But just when they thought they were about to emerge victorious, Tiffany unleashed a blast of dark magic that sent them stumbling back.
In the chaos, Sarah slipped free from her bonds and made a break for the door. But as she reached it, Tiffany grabbed her by the arm and pulled her back.
"You'll never leave me!" Tiffany snarled, her eyes flashing with madness.
Lilly saw her chance and launched herself at Tiffany, determined to save her friend. The two girls clashed in a flurry of punches and kicks, but Lilly's connection to the locket gave her an edge.
Just as it seemed like Lilly was gaining the upper hand, Tiffany's grip on Sarah tightened. And with a sudden jerk, Sarah was pulled off the floor and sent tumbling backward...out onto the roof of the tower. But just in the nick of time Jason lunged forward catching Sarah by the hand and pulling her back up. Tiffany however kept stumbling, falling off the edge of the building to her death.
