Chapter 36 Wild Winning at the Gambling Table

Chapter 36 Wild Winning at the Gambling Table

A blackjack game was underway at the table. The last round had just ended, with the dealer gathering up the chips and clearing the table.

Klein pulled Jennifer straight to an empty seat. He leaned back in his chair, looking relaxed and confident.

Jennifer leaned forward slightly, moving close to Klein's ear, her voice extremely low with a hint of worry, "Are you sure you can do this? Don't screw this up."

Klein turned his head and raised an eyebrow at her, a confident smile playing at his lips.

"Never underestimate a confident man. Just watch."

At the other seats around the table sat only men, all of them staring at Jennifer without bothering to hide their greed.

To the left sat a pot-bellied middle-aged man, thick gold chains hanging around his neck, rings covering his fingers. His beady eyes were glued to Jennifer's waist and chest, a leering smile on his lips.

Next to the middle-aged man was a buzz-cut guy with a scar on his face, his eyes cold and menacing as he looked Jennifer up and down, as if appraising an object.

Across from them was a young man in a floral shirt, playing with chips in his hands, staring straight at Jennifer's thighs, practically drooling.

There was also a gray-haired old man with cloudy eyes, who kept staring at Jennifer, occasionally licking his lips.

The pot-bellied middle-aged man spoke first, his tone flippant, his eyes full of provocation, "Lucky you, bringing such a hot chick. How about this - if you lose, let your girl here keep us company for a while?"

The scarred man joined in the jeering, reaching over to roughly grab the heavily made-up woman beside him, "I'm a generous guy. If you can't afford to lose, I'll trade you, my woman. You'll even be getting the better deal."

Their gazes grew more and more brazen, as if they wanted to strip Jennifer naked and examine her from head to toe.

Jennifer immediately clenched her fists, her face darkening, almost pulling out her gun right then. Fortunately, Klein reached out and pressed down on her wrist, gently restraining her.

The smile vanished from Klein's face instantly, his eyes turning cold. His tone was slow but full of arrogance, "I suggest you watch your mouths. Today I'm going to clean you out one by one until you don't even have your underwear left, and you'll be rolling out of here bare-ass naked."

With that, Klein turned to Jennifer, "Go exchange some chips for me."

Jennifer looked confused, frowning as she asked quietly, "Why should I use my money to buy chips?"

Klein looked at her matter-of-factly, "I didn't want to come in the first place. You're the one who asked me to help investigate the case, so of course you should pay."

Jennifer was left speechless, glaring at him before getting up and walking to the exchange counter. She exchanged twenty grand in chips and returned to the table carrying the chip tray.

Looking at the modest stack of chips in the tray, Klein rolled his eyes helplessly. "Couldn't you exchange more? This isn't even enough for a couple of rounds."

"This is all the cash I have on me. Take it or leave it," Jennifer replied irritably.

"It's fine, no problem." Klein waved his hand dismissively, looking completely unconcerned. "To beat small fry like you, I don't need much capital."

The gamblers at the table burst into mocking laughter, thinking Klein was just showing off. With so few chips, he'd lose everything in just a few hands.

The dealer looked up impassively toward a corner of the casino, where the two thugs Klein had dropped earlier were making eye contact with him, gesturing for him to "take care of" Klein.

The dealer immediately understood, nodding quietly, planning to cheat and make sure Klein lost everything.

The dealer began dealing, the cards falling in front of everyone.

Klein got two very low-value cards. The situation looked bad.

"With cards like that, you should go home to mommy," the scarred man laughed loudly, roughly squeezing the chest of the woman beside him with his right hand.

The middle-aged man smiled contemptuously and tossed Klein the smallest chip from his own pile.

"Take this and call a cab. Consider it my charity."

The surrounding gamblers laughed even more smugly, continuously raising bets while glancing at Jennifer, waiting to see Klein's embarrassment after losing everything.

Jennifer's heart was in her throat as she stared intently at the table, afraid Klein would lose everything in this hand.

But Klein didn't care at all, his fingers lightly tapping the table. His calm demeanor made the others uneasy.

The scarred man and the middle-aged man exchanged glances, both focusing on Klein's face-down card.

Klein's eyes calmly swept over each gambler who had raised, his tone slow as he spoke, "I'll raise again, but I suggest you think carefully - don't end up without even cab fare home."

His eyes were too steady, showing no sign of panic.

The scarred man and the fat middle-aged guy exchanged glances, neither calling the bet.

Klein pursed his lips. He'd already figured these guys out. They acted tough, but they weren't actually rich at all - they hesitated over every chip they threw in.

"I fold."

"I fold too."

All the gamblers chose to fold. Klein sneered and flipped over his hole cards.

The scarred man violently pushed away the woman beside him, shouting angrily.

"What garbage cards - there's no way to win with those!"

Klein shrugged. "I never said I'd win. You chose not to call - whose fault is that?"

"Damn it, you bastard!"

In the next round, Klein again got very low cards. When the third card was dealt face down, he again chose to go all in.

"How about it - want to bet and see if I'll lose this time too?"

Klein wore that infuriating smile. The middle-aged man and Scarface around him clenched their fists, but that annoying face showed no guilt whatsoever.

No one could read Klein's expression to figure out what his hole cards were. The scarred man really wanted to bet against Klein, but he didn't dare. If he bet wrong, he'd lose a huge amount of money.

"I fold!"

The scarred man said through gritted teeth, and when Klein flipped over his hole cards, he almost lost it.

"Sorry about that, thanks for the money."

Klein's smile became even more infuriating.

For several hands in a row, Klein used these psychological tactics to make the gamblers too scared to call, steadily winning each round, the stack of chips in front of him growing hand after hand.

Jennifer watched the growing pile of chips, the worry in her eyes gradually fading, replaced by admiration. Her eyes shone as she looked at Klein.

"I didn't know you were so good at gambling!"

Klein smiled without speaking, thinking back to his days on the battlefield. Drinking, gambling, and women had always been the best ways to blow off steam.

Another round of dealing began. The dealer's movements were faster. The cards Klein received were extremely poor - genuinely terrible.

He knew the dealer was deliberately cheating. This time, the scarred man seemed to sense Klein's predicament. His eyes completely red, he shoved all his chips to the center, shouting, "I'm going all in with you! I don't believe you can win this hand!"

Everyone's eyes focused on the two of them.

Jennifer immediately tensed up, gently tugging at Klein's sleeve, saying quietly, "Maybe skip this hand. Don't call."

Klein patted her hand, still completely calm, looking at the scarred man and speaking flatly, "You're sure you want to go all in? I suggest you don't regret it."

"Like hell I'll regret it!" the scarred man said arrogantly. "I bet the cards in your hand can't possibly make the best hand. You're definitely losing this one!"

Klein smiled and pushed all his chips forward. "As you wish."

Both men revealed their cards. The scarred man flipped over his cards - decent points. He laughed triumphantly, waiting to see Klein humiliated.

Klein slowly flipped over his two cards. Together, they made a perfect blackjack.

The entire room fell silent. Everyone's eyes widened in disbelief.

Jennifer was stunned too, then showed a delighted expression. After this hand, Klein's chips had multiplied many times over, from the initial twenty grand to several hundred thousand dollars; the chips piled high.

The dealer's face turned deathly pale, his palms constantly sweating, knowing he'd screwed up.

He clutched his stomach, putting on a pained expression, and said to everyone, "Sorry, my stomach suddenly hurts like hell. Someone else will deal - I need to use the restroom."

With that, the dealer hurriedly left the table, quickly walking through the casino crowd to the back rest area, pushing open the door and entering. Inside the restroom, a burly man with a face full of flesh and a vicious scar sat on the sofa smoking - it was Mortar.

The dealer rushed forward, his tone panicked, "Boss, we've got trouble. Some guy's causing problems in the casino, making a scene at the tables. He's won hundreds of thousands of dollars, and I couldn't stop him even when I cheated!"

Hearing this, Mortar viciously stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray and stood up, his eyes turning cold. "Oh? Got some nerve, causing trouble on my turf. I want to see which bastard has such a death wish!"
