Chapter One Hundred and Ninety Six.

Chapter One Hundred and Ninety Six.
Ember's POV

I thought the interest he had in looking at what I was doing was just something that was for a fleeting moment. I didn't know that he would be so engrossed in it.

Every single free time he has, according to him, he's always here in the shop with me. And that has been going on for well over a week now. Charlie makes sure to tease me about it every single time when he's not around.

For someone that says it's their free time, he's here awfully almost everytime. And I don't really feel comfortable with that. I brought it up a couple of times to him and he only just waved it off saying it was not a big deal at all.

In the past few days, we've kind of grown closer and more and it was surreal. I can't believe it anytime I think about it. Giving the way our relationship was before.

And the tension between us was always crackling. I'm not sure if I was the only one that felt that way about it, but it's kind of driving me crazy.

Him being near me makes me feel so comfortable which is not even meant to be so after what happened to me before. I've been wary of men, but with him, I just want to be a child and have him wrap his arms around me. Weird isn't it?

There were times that he came so close to me, and I would think that he wanted to kiss me, but in the end, he was just trying to pick something up from behind me. He must be teasing me, because there is no way he does not feel all of these feelings.

Yesterday, he gave me a gift which was a bracelet. I've not thought of owning one before now, but from the way it was pretty looking, I knew it was expensive. For someone who just randomly gave me a hundred grand before, I knew it was most likely expensive.

I didn't accept it. I gave it back to him, asking him what his intentions were. He only shrugged, saying he felt like it would look good on me. And I know that shit is not right. Even though I felt hurt by his reply. I don't know why I was feeling like he should have said that he liked me or something.

But then, I called myself back to the present when I remembered that he was my boss and I'm a mechanic. There is no way in hell that he would like me. With the amount of women flaunting themselves around him, he would not settle for a red head mechanic that works for him, who is also scared of men except him. Not like he knows or anything.

And there is the part where I am older than he is. He's twenty five and I'm twenty seven. I'm sure he would have figured that out by now if he checked the contract I signed. But then, there is no way in hell a guy would want to go out with someone who is older than he is. Even though he looks older than me with his strong features.

“Would you like to tell me why you're so invested in the wrench with you? I'm sure it would be crying now if it had a mouth to.” I was jerked out of my thoughts by him. The man that has been filling up my thoughts non stop for the past weeks now.

“Why are you here?” I asked. He was supposed to be at the other side of the garage, working on a particular engine. He kind of seems obsessed with them. There was a time that he said he would like to remove and dismantle one engine only to put them together again.

“Why can't I be? You were gone for almost thirty minutes, you were supposed to watch what I was doing.” He said in a sulky tone that made me laugh, I'm sure the guys that work for him have never heard him talk like that before.

“I was busy.” I said simply, packing up the paperwork on the table that was supposed to be checked on one side of the table.

I was breathing very fast now because of the close proximity. It was just the both of us in the small office and when I peeped back, the door was closed. Shit.

“I've been here for almost five minutes, that wrench took your blazing glare. You were not doing anything, Red.” He said.

I turned to him and I almost regretted doing so. His eyes were staring deep at me. And it was like he wanted to do something, or anything to me. My heart started to beat very fast in my chest. I clutched to the edge of the table nervously.

“I was just lost in thoughts okay? Nothing too serious. I'm good. Let's head over to your work and see what you've done.” I said, with a wide smile plastered on my face, but I was not moving at all. And he walked the few steps that were separating us.

In a blink of an eye, he was right in front of me. Standing there with almost no space between us. My hands started to feel clammy. I raised my head to look at him.

“What are you doing right now?” I asked, breathing heavily.

“What do you think?” He growled out, his voice so low, I could feel it deep within me. What the hell is going on?

“I….y…”

“Shhh….” He dropped his head gently, I saw it all coming before his lips dropped to mine, I shifted my head and they landed on my cheeks. He stayed there for a while and his arms came and circled around my waist.

“We can't do this.” Blurted out.

“Why?”

I was about to answer his question with the age gap difference when my phone rang and broke the moment. He stepped away because I pushed him off gently. When I picked the phone up, it was my mother that was on it.

Every feeling of desire was sucked out of me as I stared at the caller ID.
