Chapter 84 The Shift Goes Physical
The school day didn’t stay quiet for long.
By third period, Pamela’s name had spread into something else entirely. Not just talk now, but arguments. People picking sides in the hallways like it was a sport.
Lenora could feel it changing shape around her again.
Less rumor.
More pressure.
Kylen met her outside the science block.
“We’ve got a problem,” he said immediately.
Lenora didn’t slow down. “Everything’s a problem lately.”
“This one’s moving.”
That made her stop.
Lilibeth joined them from the opposite side of the corridor, already looking annoyed.
“They’re calling for a walkout,” she said.
Kylen frowned. “For what?”
“Pamela,” she replied. “They want accountability.”
Lenora exhaled slowly. “So it worked.”
Lilibeth looked at her. “What worked?”
“The redirection,” Lenora said.
The boy from the hockey team appeared behind them again, like he always did when things got worse.
“It’s not just a walkout,” he said.
Kylen turned. “What else?”
He hesitated. “It’s turning into a confrontation.”
That word changed the air.
Lilibeth crossed her arms. “With who?”
The boy looked between them.
“Administration.”
Silence.
Lenora looked down the corridor.
Students were gathering now. Not just talking. Moving in groups. Too coordinated for something spontaneous.
Kylen started walking. “We need to see this.”
They followed him.
By the time they reached the main courtyard, it was already packed.
Not chaotic yet.
Controlled chaos.
Signs. Phones. Raised voices.
Pamela’s name everywhere.
Lenora stopped at the edge.
“This escalated fast,” Lilibeth said.
Kylen nodded. “Too fast.”
A group near the center was leading it.
Lenora recognized one of them immediately.
Pamela’s friend from earlier.
Phone still in hand.
“She’s pushing it,” Kylen said.
The boy shook his head slightly. “No. She’s not alone.”
That’s when Lenora noticed it.
People weren’t reacting randomly.
They were responding in waves.
Like something was feeding them direction.
Lilibeth leaned slightly toward Lenora. “This isn’t organic.”
Lenora nodded once. “No.”
A sudden shout cut through the courtyard.
A student stepped forward holding a printed sheet.
Same format again.
Same structure.
“This is what they’re hiding!” he yelled.
The crowd shifted.
Energy rising.
Kylen’s jaw tightened. “That’s the same print style.”
Lenora didn’t answer.
She was watching the movement instead.
Not the paper.
The reactions.
Then she saw it.
Near the edge of the courtyard.
Someone standing still.
Not participating.
Observing.
Lenora stepped forward slightly.
“That’s him,” she said.
Kylen followed her gaze. “The hockey transfer?”
She nodded.
Lilibeth frowned. “Why is he just watching?”
The boy beside them answered quietly.
“Because he doesn’t need to push it anymore.”
That made Kylen look at him. “Meaning?”
The boy didn’t look away from the crowd.
“Meaning it’s already in motion.”
A sudden crash from the side of the courtyard.
A trash bin tipped over.
Students jumped back.
Voices rose louder.
The confrontation had started turning physical.
Not planned.
Just momentum.
Kylen moved instantly. “This is going to get shut down hard.”
Lilibeth grabbed Lenora’s arm slightly. “We need to leave before teachers lock everything.”
But Lenora wasn’t moving.
She was still watching the transfer student.
He finally looked at her.
Just for a second.
Then turned away.
That was enough.
“He’s not just watching,” Lenora said.
Kylen looked at her. “Then what is he doing?”
Lenora’s voice stayed steady.
“He’s timing it.”
Another shout.
This time closer.
A student shoved another near the edge of the crowd.
Everything shifted.
Teachers finally appeared.
Too late.
“Back up!” one shouted.
But the crowd was already too loud to hear clearly.
Kylen grabbed Lenora’s arm now. “We’re leaving.”
She didn’t resist this time.
They moved quickly through the side corridor.
Lilibeth close behind.
The boy trailing slightly.
But halfway down the hallway, the noise behind them changed.
Kylen slowed. “That’s not good.”
Another shout echoed.
Different tone.
Not anger.
Direction.
Lenora stopped.
“They’re moving it,” she said.
Lilibeth frowned. “Moving what?”
Lenora looked back toward the courtyard entrance.
“The attention,” she said.
And then it hit.
A group broke off from the crowd.
Heading toward the administration wing.
Kylen’s expression tightened. “That’s not a coincidence.”
The boy nodded once. “That’s the second phase.”
Lilibeth looked between them. “Second phase of what?”
No one answered immediately.
Because they could see it now.
This wasn’t just a protest anymore.
It was being redirected.
Kylen started moving again. “Administration wing is going to get hit next.”
Lenora followed instantly. “Then we go there.”
Lilibeth didn’t argue this time. “Too late if we don’t move.”
They ran.
Down corridors.
Past shouting voices.
Past teachers trying to regain control.
The school wasn’t stable anymore.
It was splitting into directions.
By the time they reached the admin building again, the doors were already crowded.
Students pushing forward.
Security struggling to hold them back.
Kylen stopped at the edge. “This is coordinated.”
Lenora scanned the crowd.
Then saw it.
The transfer student again.
Standing slightly back.
Watching everything converge.
Lilibeth noticed too. “He’s here again.”
The boy beside them spoke quietly.
“This is where it was always going.”
Kylen looked at Lenora. “We can’t stop this.”
Lenora shook her head slightly.
“No,” she said. “But we can see who it leads to.”
Inside the building, something crashed.
Glass maybe.
Or something heavier.
The crowd surged again.
Teachers shouting louder now.
Security losing ground.
And then—
The doors opened from inside.
A staff member stepped out.
Shouting something no one could hear clearly over the noise.
But the crowd reacted instantly.
Like that was what they were waiting for.
Kylen’s grip tightened slightly.
“This is going to explode,” he said.
Lenora didn’t look away.
“Good,” she said.
Because now it wasn’t hidden anymore.
It was happening in full view.
And whoever had been steering it…
Was finally about to be seen.
