Chapter 70 - A Fight You're Going to Lose

After Javier called Aaron to show up, he immediately went to where it was. He couldn't promise himself that he wouldn't be able to kill him once he confronted him because ever since his blood had been boiling with the man, especially every time, he remembered his beating of him then and Ava.

And now that he was out of jail, there would surely be trouble again. He shouldn't have bothered with that anymore, especially with what Ava had done to him, but his will could not be quiet because he knew the man. It sanctified nothing.

"How long has it been? 7 years or 8 years?" Aaron greeted him when he got to the bar where he was.

He ignored that. He stared at him so sharply that if his stare could kill, he would have been lifeless before. He was still demonic, no change.

"Have a seat," he invited him.

He lazily sat there and looked at nowhere.

"Why didn't you come to visit me? I knew you were rude, but still..." he said to him and laid his hand in front of him, but he ignored it.

The audacity of this Satan was really different.

"I heard you went to prison, too. You killed someone?" he asked him directly, so he looked at him again sharply.

He took a bottle of beer and opened it.

"You don't look like a murderer. I guess you never know," he said and handed him the beer.

Javier calmed himself and averted his gaze.

"You're looking for Ava?" he asked lazily which grabbed Aaron's attention.

"Where is she?"

"She died 6 years ago," he lied and looked at him again. "Don't look for her."

The man laughed sarcastically and looked at him. He drank more beer and shook his head.

"Are you kidding me?" Aaron asked him. He just smirked at him and simply nodded.

"If you want, I'll let you join her..." he threatened and looked at the knife held by the woman next to him. "You can see if I'm kidding or not."

In fear, Aaron quickly pushed the woman peeling the apple away from him, so that Javier smirked even more.

"Give me back my phone."

He wanted to end their conversation because he might not be able to control himself and he could kill him.

Aaron quickly took his cell phone out of his pocket and laid it in front of him.

"You have her number stored on your phone. Thanks to that, I spoke to my dead sister."

Javier's jaw tightened at what he heard and quickly picked up his phone. He seemed to be running out of patience with the man.

"Ava was the one who killed that person, right?" Aaron asked.

Javier blinked twice. He seemed to know things very well.

"You took the fall for her. Right? You would never kill someone. I know you. Ava is perfectly capable though," he told him relentlessly.

Javier averted his eyes immediately. He didn't want Aaron to see it in his eyes, but it seemed like whatever he was hiding was screaming it all over his being.

Ava was indeed capable of killing people. Because he was one of those she killed. And to this day, Ava still killed him little by little.

When Javier promised himself that he would protect Ava for the rest of his life, he was more willing to do that, especially from her older brother Aaron. He knew everything the woman had gone through at Aaron's hands even with her parents. That even he would not be able to cope if that happened to him.

But when Javier realized that the woman could not do that to him back, he did not know if he still wanted to keep that promise. That even if he didn't want to fulfill it, he didn't seem to agree with it.

"Do you like Ava that much?"

Javier glanced at Aaron for a moment because of what he said and immediately averted his eyes.

Did he still like her that much? Did he still love her? Did she still deserve his love?

"She ruined your life. Do you still want to take her side? Do you like that devil that much?" He asked him again as if he was provoking him.

Javier just smirked and shook his head.

"I don't understand anything you say. You sound like a dog barking," he scoffed and then looked at him.

"You got out of prison after 8 years. You should just live a quiet life," he said and got up to leave.

He looked at Aaron again who was just smirking and looking at him. He seemed scared but he knew this person, he knew it was just looking for the timing to tame him.

"This isn't a suggestion. It's a warning," he lazily told the man and turned his back on it.

But before he could even get out of that VIP room, Aaron spoke which made him stop walking.

"I'll get revenge for you, too."

He looked at him, trying to understand what was said but he really didn't understand what was coming out of this man's mouth. He just looked at him seriously, so he looked at him intently. Trying to read what was on his mind.

"She only used you when she needed you, then she abandoned you. I can't explain everything, but she's evil compared to me. I'll get revenge for me, my mom, and for you. You can pay for this," he suggested to him and then pointed to the wine and food on the table.

This guy really fills him up.

"Just tell me where she is. I heard she became the mistress of the president of the Hidalgo Empire, but that's nonsense," he continued and gulped alcohol.

Javier kept staring at the man. They glared at each other for a long time before Aaron suddenly threw a bottle of beer at him. Javier's jaw began to tighten in anger. Aaron stood up and faced him.

"Hey, motherfucker. You shouldn't glare at me like that. We're on the same side. She ruined our lives. You should help me." Aaron seemed to command him and even patted his head when it got close to him.

The anger Javier felt intensified. He stopped himself how many times during those hours, but this man was really giving him a reason to kill it.

"You should help me. Huh?"

Javier kicked him with all his might in the stomach, causing Aaron to stumble against the table and scatter the wine and food there. He quickly rushed at Aaron and choked him. Aaron cried out for help, but Javier did not hesitate to continue choking him. Javier didn't care if he killed him right now.

"You'd better not go near her. I will fucking kill you," he firmly threatened the man and tightened his two hands on its neck even more.

"Y-you fucking..."

"I'm not the same person you knew. I don't know what you're thinking, but I really killed someone. I already have blood on my hands. Do you think I can't kill again, huh?" he said to Aaron and quickly left before Aaron could catch his breath.

He no longer knew what was on his mind. He shouldn't be interfering with them anymore, especially when it came to Ava, but why was he still doing it? He could no longer understand himself. Even his feelings for Megan were disturbing.

~~

[The night where Javier was beaten up by Ava's men.]

They both felt weak after that conversation. As Megan walked away from that place - and she could barely walk - Javier didn't know why his feelings were gradually getting heavier as he remembered what the woman said to him. He could feel the pain he was feeling in his heart. That even if he repeatedly ignored it, he felt that way even more.

He drank the last beer that was there and forcefully crushed the can afterward. He even wanted to stop Megan when she left because it was late, and she was still sick, but the woman would not let him. She was completely gone from his life.

He even wanted to ask her why. He still wanted to talk to her for a long time, but he didn't force himself because he also felt Megan's suffering for him. Something that made his feelings even heavier.

He also had the idea that she might already know the truth. That he didn't know why it hurt him. Megan's eyes... felt like he couldn't let her out of his sight.

He lazily left that place after a few more hours and walked back to their house. But before he could even get into their gate, he heard someone calling his name. When he looked back at who it was, he immediately felt it hit his head with a hard object causing him to lose consciousness.

Watching Megan walk away from him that time became more confusing for Javier. Perhaps she already knew his true purpose. Perhaps she already knew just what he wanted in her. Perhaps she already knew that he didn't really love her.

But why didn't she ask him for an explanation? Why did she choose to just end their relationship rather than stone him with hurtful words and questions?

He had prepared for that scenario but what happened earlier was not. His heart was not ready. For no apparent reason, he felt the same pain in his heart when he found out what Ava had done to him. That the physical pain of his body was not enough to compensate for that.

Javier felt the strong blows on him by the men he did not know and the next was the kick in his stomach. He fell on the iron fence there and then vomited blood. But despite their beating of him, he could not even feel it. The pain he felt in his heart was more dominant.

"Get up!" the two men shouted and violently took him from the sinking then again punched him hard in the stomach.

Javier coughs another series of blood. Someone was holding his hands, so he could not fight back. His knees were also trembling due to the loss of consciousness he had earlier.

Again, the man punched him in the face and then in the abdomen causing him to fall to the ground again. But before he could react to what they did to him, they violently pulled out his hair and punched him again.

Despite the dizziness and weakness, he still heard the ringing of the man's cell phone. He no longer knew what to do and where to look. He had previously suspected who they were and who ordered them to beat him. And he knew he would never be wrong in his suspicion.

Moments later, the man pulled him again to face him and put the phone to his ear. He just kept his eyes closed and resisted the drowsiness he felt. His injuries were concentrated on the face and head, so he shouldn't sleep.

"It's been a long time. I was going to talk over a meal, but I didn't get a chance."

Javier's eyes opened when he heard that voice. He knew it. He was right. It was Ava. Her, again.

"That's too bad. They're going to give you an envelope. It's a contract for 10 10-story building, farm, and house in California. There's also a note promising you'll never see her again. Sign the contract and the note. The building, farm, and the house will be yours. There's a plane for you to leave tomorrow. There's one for your sister, too." Ava explained to him.

At the nth time, she was, again, bribing him but this time it seemed to make sure he would allow her to do what he didn't want and what she wanted. Javier's pain doubled with the resurrection of his anger for the woman.

"The President loved his daughter so much that he prepared that much. If you refuse, someone you love will get hurt next time. This is a fight you're going to lose. Stop being stubborn and sign it," she directly threatened him.

Ava would never change no matter what happened. This was a fight he was not going to lose.
