Chapter 115: Revenge
Isabelle’s Point of View:
My heart was trembling with every passing second since Achilles went with Cole. I was so scared of what was going to happen—but relieved that at least he was okay.
I knew that now that he was here, I was gonna be alright. Although it was still hard to believe Cole turned out to be like this… I mean, I was aware I did wrong, but did I really deserve to be kidnapped for dating him for three days and leaving? Wouldn’t someone feel like that was a bit of an overreaction?
It wasn’t as if I played him for months. I didn’t even wanna play him at all, it was all just a big misunderstanding.
My thoughts were interrupted by Achilles and Cole entering the room again after a ten-minute conversation. I looked at the two of them.
I tried to gather his attention and Achilles shared a look with Cole before coming over to free me from the chair, taking the cloth off my mouth. “Achilles,” I said as soon as I could speak and he smiled sadly at me. “What’s wrong?” I asked, sensing that everything wasn’t good.
I thought everything was fine, and that’s why he was releasing me. Wasn’t that the case?
“In exchange for your freedom, I had to make a deal with him,” He started in a low voice and said, his eyes looking down.
“What’s that?” I questioned.
“Seventy-five million dollars,” He added after a couple of seconds.
“But that’s not your concern, is it?” Cole chimed in and interrupted our conversation. “Tell her the real thing, Achilles.”
He looked at me once again, and my heart raced. Why was he so reluctant? What could be so bad? He was making me nervous “The thing is, Isabelle,” he started with calling me by my name—making me more nervous, “You need to spend a night with him.”
My expressions changed immediately to horror as he completed his sentence. No, he was kidding, right? This couldn’t be true!
“You—you are joking, right?”
“Do I look like I am?” he asked as he stepped away. “You have to do it, Isabelle.”
“No, you can’t—can’t ask me to… Achilles, I’m your wife!” I shouted and reminded him, hoping to knock some sense into him, but all my efforts were in vain.
“You have to do this for the mafia, Isabelle,” He said, his expressions sincere and delicate—telling me that he was serious about this. “I can’t risk all of those people when the other option is one night.”
I scoffed as I stepped back. No. No way. He wasn’t serious, he couldn’t be. No matter what the options were… he wouldn’t ask me to spend a night with someone else. That wasn’t my Achilles.
“You—you know what you’re saying, right? You know what it means?” I asked again, still not believing him. I was hoping he would’ve gone dumb and not realise what spending a night with someone meant.
He took a document from Cole. “Yes, and you have to sign this document. It’s a contract stating that he could… do anything to you for the night and you can’t hold any of it against him in a legal setting. No charges can be placed against him for this night.”
I scoffed again, this time less of what-the-fuck, more of this-isn’t-happening. “Achilles…” I whispered, my voice quivering as I felt myself getting emotional. “You…”
“Just sign it, Isabelle,” He looked into my eyes but quickly looked away.
“But, Achilles—”
“Just fucking sign it!” He shouted and I flinched, a couple of tears oozing out of my eyes at the sudden yell. Sobbing, I surrendered to the will and signed the papers without even reading them.
I could feel his eyes at me, but I couldn’t bear to look up at him. The tears started falling to the ground. I couldn’t tell if I was more hurt by the fact that I just gave Cole the right to fuck me anyway he wanted or that Achilles made me do it.
As I heard the steps slowly retreating, I had to look up. No, he wasn’t just gonna leave me here. I was too fucking fucked up to let him.
“Achilles,” I said, my voice as bold as ever. His steps stopped but he didn’t turn around. “Look at me!” I shouted.
He turned around, his eyes dull. I couldn’t read them, but actions always spoke more than words, didn’t they?
“Achilles, you–”
“Don’t.” He interrupted me and it didn’t do anything other than infuriate me.
“You are as heartless as you were when I found you in that alley two months ago,” I said, my words spitting with despise, “If you can let your–your wife be fucked by a stranger, then, remember Achilles, I will never come back to you. I will run away and I don’t care if you kill me for it. You’re despicable right now.”
He blinked, his face showing a bit of hurt as he left the room. I scoffed inside and tore my gaze away from the door, my heart beating in my ears as I fell silent. There was no way out of this now. He had complete control over me for tonight.
Minutes passed and before I could even gather the courage to leave, which I knew was useless but I still wanted to—Cole came back in the room, a mischievous grin plastered on his face.
“Look, Cole,” I gathered the strength and tried to reason with him after a few seconds of him staring at me, “You said that you really liked me. That you cared about me, right? So why—why would you do this?”
“You have a way with people who love you… Nic,” He said as he took a domineering step toward me, emphasising on the name, “You wrong them till they hate you.”
“Really, Cole?” I said as a soft scoff left my mouth. “You’re saying as if I did you so wrong. It’s true that I hid my true identity, but… you didn’t hear my explanation. I truly liked you too.”
He chuckled. “So much that you ran back to the USA?”
“I had to. My mother was divorced, and I–I needed to know what happened!”
“You couldn’t have left a simple message?” he asked me as he took another step toward me, being very close to me. “I searched for you. For days. I called you, but you must’ve blocked me. But you couldn’t care less, could you? I had to reach out to Achilles when I came to know about… your little shenanigans from Anna.”
“Anna? Achilles’ ex?” I asked, shocked about what she had to do with this.
“Yes. She told me about your gross crush on your step-brother. But I suppose now it doesn’t matter. And then I got your number too, and contacted you.”
“No, you didn’t,” I was confused. “I didn’t receive any of your messages.”
“Oh, but you did,” He said, his voice mocking. “Do you remember the strange messages that brought Achilles back from Tokyo to you?”
“That—that was you? Those threats, and that…”
“Yes,” He cut me off. “But I figured out it was useless. It was bringing you two closer, instead of the misunderstanding I was hoping it would set in motion. You two were running away together.”
I scoffed. “You—”
“So I changed plans and got in bed with Anna,” He smirked, “Both figuratively and literally. Now I’ve got you right where I want you, and you’re gonna pay for all my suffering.”
“Please…” I tried to say but I knew it wouldn’t help. Without realising, he was hurt way more than I knew, and he wouldn’t listen to the voice of reason.
“It’s almost night in a couple of hours, baby. Why don’t I send you to my place?” He said and laughed. “You’re gonna remember this night forever.”
