Chapter 113: “Blast from the Past”

Isabelle’s Point of View:

“Isabelle!” Someone called out and I turned around, pointing the gun at the man instantly, as my eyes widened in horror. My hands were shaking slightly, not even believing what my eyes were seeing.

My breath was hitched up as I saw Cole standing in front of me. What was he doing here? Why was he holding a gun against me? His eyes weren’t the same as before.

“Or Nicole. Or whatever fake name you have now…” He said as he took steps toward me, his voice condescending. I tried to look confident, even when I didn’t even know how to shoot at all.

“What are you doing here, Cole?”

“Oh, you remember me?” he asked, chuckling. “That’s rich. Heard you got married.”

“Cole, what’s going on?” I asked again, trying to make sense of the mess, my voice starting to quiver.

“Did you really think you could play with me and then go back to America, and I’ll let it go?”

“I…” I took a deep breath. “I didn’t play with you, Cole. I—I was trying—”

“Liar!” He cut me off, making me flinch at the sudden shout. My hand trembled at his voice. “You’re gonna pay for what you did.”

“Wh—” Before I could say anything, he came over to me and took the gun from my hand, throwing it away. I gasped and took a step back, but he pulled me by my wrist, pointing the gun against my head. “You will come with me now, Isabelle.”

“Where!?” I shouted out, not knowing what to do.

“Oh, you’ll know,” He let out another dry evil chuckle.

I couldn’t believe what was happening. I didn’t even have any way to break from his grip—if only I had any kind of training, I could have fought back. But right now I had to accept that I was helpless in front of him, so I had to use my brains if I could. He took the phone that I was holding, and kept it on the table.

He grabbed me and started to drag me outside the base, when I managed to press the distress button on the wall, sending out a signal that I was in trouble. I couldn’t do anything else as he threw me in the trunk of his car, and closed it—making my world black. The car started running and I just hoped that someone came to my rescue.

I stayed there for an eternity before the car came to an abrupt halt, and the trunk was opened. He pulled me out, dragged me into another building which I assumed was where he was staying. He tied me to a chair and then a cloth around my mouth.

“Now stay here,” He said as he looked into my eyes, which were almost teary from being scared at this moment, “Unlike you, I’m never leaving you.”

I shouted for him to let me go, but the cloth died down most of the voice and he walked out, leaving my muffled noises unheard. I grew quiet and silently prayed for Achilles to be okay and for him to find me.

Achilles’ Point of View:

I was in the middle of my mission. We had to change the course of our action when I realised that a head-on fight was stupid. I had convinced myself that winning against The Blood Ravens was possible, and that’s why I didn’t tell any of my men that I knew which Mafia Group we were going against. However, on arrival, I knew I was in way over my head.

So, I changed the plans, infiltrated her company by buying one of her employees and was waiting. On the other hand, I was underground and not talking to anyone—just like all my men—to avoid anyone being able to track us.

I guess I forgot that Unit 2 would come to Europe if we didn’t contact them in 24 hours. I realised that when I received a panic alarm on my monitor, indicating someone was in distress at our base.

“All of us are here?” I turned around in the large basement and asked, and after a few seconds, they all replied positively. It was definitely someone from Unit 2.

“We have to send one of our men to our base. Someone from Unit 2 has pressed the panic button,” I said to them. “Why don’t you go, Marcel?”

“Okay, boss,” He left the computer and stood up. “I will inform you as soon as I’m aware of the situation.”

“Okay.”

He left the room as I continued with my work. I was trying to hack into her company and figure out something I could use against her. Just recently her dad had transferred the entire company in her name, so it was vulnerable in the presence of a weak boss.

After a few long minutes, my phone rang and it was from Marcel.

“Marcel,” I said as I picked it up.

“There’s no one here, boss. But Unit 2 must’ve arrived because the arsenal base is almost empty. Also, there’s Mrs. Roman’s phone.”

“Isabelle’s?” I asked, my heart rate elevating. “They wouldn’t have taken her with them. Fuck. I need you to bring the phone to me. We have to look for her right now.”

“Okay, boss. I’ll be back in five minutes.”

I ended the call and took a deep breath. Okay, I needed to calm down if I wanted to handle this situation. She left her phone, or maybe she couldn’t take it with her… God, why would she come here? She knew there were people out there looking for her.

“We need to look for Isabelle. She was here and probably pressed the panic button. Only three of you guys should stay back, those who have majors in IT. Rest of you, get ready. We’ll leave as soon as Marcel brings back the phone.”

They all nodded and I took a deep breath.

Marcel came back way faster than he had left. I took the phone from him and unlocked it, realising there was a message.

“I am sure this reaches you, Achilles Roman. I have your pretty wife and this isn’t your usual kidnapping. Meet me at 67 Hastings Street and we’ll discuss your downfall.”
