CHAPTER 83
Right after that call with their parents, the two immediately went to the hospital that Romeo had mentioned, forgetting all about their date and what they looked like. All they could think about was the well-being of their parents.
When they got to the hospital, they quickly asked the front desk where their parents were. The front desk had given them two room numbers and directions. However, because their parents were together at the time of the call, the two did not bother looking for each of their parents' rooms separately but instead went together.
They first went to Janice's room, where they quickly found their parents still arguing.
But the two's arguing quickly ended when the door of their room hastily opened and they saw their children standing while catching their own breaths as if they'd been in a running competition. Worry and nervousness could also be seen in the two's faces, making the parents feel guilty.
Upon seeing the state of their parents, Samantha and Daniel's confusion and worry escalated.
The two rushed to their parents' side. Samantha stood beside the bed where Janice was lying, while Daniel rushed to his father's side, who was sitting on the chair that was beside Janice's bed.
"Are you alright, mom?"
"What happened, dad?"
"Why are you both injured?"
"What happened to your arm?"
"Are your legs alright?"
"You have a lot of bruises!"
Those are only some of the many questions the two threw towards their parents as they frantically checked their parents' bodies.
And that was the sight the doctor caught when he came to check on his patients.
Upon seeing the doctor, it was then that Samantha and Daniel slowly calmed down and composed themselves. They then started talking to the doctor, asking a lot of questions regarding their parents' health and well-being, as well as about their injuries.
Samantha and Daniel finally stopped asking for more after being content with the explanations given by the doctor, knowing that their parents are well, their injuries aren't as terrible as they had feared, and that they will be able to move freely soon. Their anxiousness subsided and was replaced with relief.
Since they already heard what they wanted to hear from the doctor, it was their parents' turn to answer their questions about how they ended up with lots of bruises and injuries—specifically a fractured arm and leg.
Their parents', especially Janice, were hesitant to answer their questions at first. But Samantha kept on persuading her mother. It was actually on the borderline of being forceful. As for Daniel, he also asked his father, but unlike Samantha, he was calm. But Romeo was also keeping quiet, saying that unless Janice answers, he will remain hushed. So, Daniel left it all to the two ladies beside him and his father. And due to Samantha's persistence, telling her mother that she wouldn't shut up unless her mother answered her questions, Janice finally gave them the answer they had been waiting for.
After more than five minutes of Janice explaining everything slowly and embarrassingly, the whole room went silent, and the atmosphere around them suddenly went awkward.
Samantha and Daniel were looking back and forth at their parents, who were avoiding their gazes in embarrassment, with a bewildered look on their faces.
Samantha's mouth was hanging, while Daniel just looked at their parents without even blinking.
They heard and understood everything Janice had said, but somehow they still could not believe it. They even had to question each other about whether what they heard was right.
"That was a joke, right?" Daniel was the first to get over the shock. He looked at the two, his eyes lingering on his father, who remained looking out the window.
It was then Samantha's turn to speak. "Yeah, that must be a joke. I mean, what the hell, mom?"
Unable to hold back the anger she was feeling for their parents', especially her mother's recklessness, Samantha had already raised her already loud voice.
"Have you two lost it? Seriously? Getting injured because of sex? What the fuck?"
Samantha was not scared anymore to curse in front of the two older people in front of them. She was too angry to even care about that.
"Lower down your voice, Samantha. People passing by might hear you!" Janice said in a small voice. Her cheeks were flushed as she glanced at the door that was left open by the doctor.
Daniel understood what Janice was getting worried about, so he hurriedly closed the door.
"Now you're getting embarrassed? Shouldn't you have thought of that before doing such a reckless thing? My god, mom!"
Janice bit her lower lip. She usually chews out her daughter once she starts raising her voice at her, but at that moment, she couldn't. And it's because she understood where Samantha was coming from. Adding to that was the embarrassment she was feeling.
"Calm down, Samantha," Daniel said as he watched Samantha pacing back and forth while breathing heavily.
He sighed. He understood why she was reacting that way. He was feeling the same too. But the anger he was feeling for their parents' recklessness could not be compared to the embarrassment he was feeling.
He couldn't believe the time would come when he would hear about his father's sex adventures.
It turns out that the reason why their parents' had fractured their arm and leg—Janice was suffering from a leg fracture, while Romeo was suffering from an arm fracture—was because they fell from the stairs. And why did they fall from the stairs? It's because their parents suddenly decided to get into kinky sex, having sex on the stairs. And when things got a little wilder—those exact words came from Janice—Janice's foot, as well as her hands that were holding onto the handrail, slipped, causing her to outbalance and fall down to the living room. As to how Romeo fell as well, Daniel already knew how it happened without even asking about it.
He didn't even want to imagine the situation of how his father fell along with Janice.
"Seriously, these two are not young anymore, so why do those things?" Samantha replied to Daniel with her teeth gritting, still pacing back and forth.
Her anger was still far from dissipating.
It was then that Romeo finally spoke after just being quiet and listening to the three people in the room.
"I am sorry for making you two worry." He took a pause before opening his mouth again, as if wanting to say something more, but in the end, he decided to close his mouth again.
Romeo's face, which was filled with embarrassment just a moment ago, was now replaced with guilt. And that guilt started to be mirrored on Janice's face as well, making Samantha stop on her tracks and stare at the two with her eyes wide-open as if she couldn't believe what she was seeing.
"Are you two guilt-tripping me?"
The two did not speak. Janice just looked down, while Romeo's eyes averted to the window again.
A deep sigh came out of Samantha's mouth as she stared at the two for a while before she averted her eyes to Daniel, who was just staring at her.
"Let's talk," she said before getting out of the room.
Daniel did not let her say another word, and he quickly followed her outside.
