Chapter 45 Chapter 46
When Marlie sat on the couch pretending to look all sad and pitiful, Chad didn't spare the time to squat in front of her, trying to console her.
He held her stained face in his hand and wiped the fake tears off Marlie's face. His words were soothing as he assured her, "There's no need for these tears, Charlie. It's okay, hush. Those media know nothing and write nonsense. Shhh... shhh... Hush now, okay? Don't cry, please." Chad tried hard to pacify her.
Seeing her sad eyes really tugged at his heart, which was something new. Chad had never seen Charlie this sad ever since they started dating and even after their marriage.
Well, except for the day, she found out the truth regarding who he truly loves.
It was an unpleasant day for both of them, but Chad didn't feel as awful as he was feeling now, looking at her sorrowful eyes, which were brimming with tears.
Chad gazed at her with concern evident in his eyes.
On the opposite side of Marlie, Spark observed her with disdain. At that moment, he felt no pain or jealousy due to their proximity. After all, Marlie was not Charlie.
It was as if the fog that clouded his mind had suddenly vanished, giving him a clear vision of reality. There's only one thing that he was interested in. "Where is the real Charlie?" Spark has been questioning himself on this question all this time. Nonetheless, he was playing it cool. He will investigate as soon as possible.
However, he couldn't help but scoff and sigh repeatedly as he observed Chad's attentive care towards Marlie. Especially noticeable was the moment when their eyes met, and Marlie found herself unable to turn away. "Disgusting!" Soark thought. He was already hating this imposter of Charlie's effect on Chad.
But for Marlie, it was an unfamiliar sight for her, as she had never before witnessed such worry and affection in Chad's eyes. Unfortunately, she forgot that this care was meant for Charlie and not herself.
Recognizing that her presence was not required at this moment, Vien decided to retreat to her room and continue with her own activities. While Spark remained seated on the couch, frustrated and consumed by annoyance, he continued his sighing and scoffing. He looks like he would vomit any moment.
What he observed between Chad and Marlie was more than enough for him. Their deep eye contact seemed to transport them into their own world, leading Spark to exclaim in disbelief, "Unbelievable! He is such a fool to lose himself in her gaze! What is so captivating about her eyes?
He was so irritated. At that moment, though Marlie had Charlie's face, Spark's disgust towards her was the same as he loved Charlie. He just couldn't accept that this imposter not only took the face of Charlie, but she was also messing with his best friend. Unbelievable!
Annoyed, Spark stood up and spat under his breath,
"Impossible! First, it was that thickhead brat, Marlie, and now this imposter?!" Spark shook his head in disbelief at his best friend's fickle heart.
" I always knew you had a weird taste in women!" Then he headed to the kitchen to find something to distract himself from the annoyance caused by Chad and Marlie.
Pouring himself a glass of water did little to alleviate Spark's frustration. He was in the kitchen when Vien appeared, only to be suddenly grabbed by Spark, prompting her to feel startled.
"Oh boy...!" Vien exclaimed in shock.
"Nanny, did Chad accidentally hit his head on a rock?" Vien looked at Spark with confusion, struggling to understand his words. Spark himself was battling with understanding and persisted, wondering,
"Or perhaps Chad had bumped his head into a tree or had an accident that affected his mental faculties when he was a child." However, Vien still couldn't grasp the meaning until Spark concluded, "I think he is missing a few screws in his head." Spark said and heaved a dramatic genetic sigh.
Vien then grasped what was going on. She tried to hide her laughter as she said...
"You're absolutely right, my dear. I think so, too!" Vien responded seriously and calmly, causing Spark to nod before adding.
"You think so too, right? I wonder why he's even my friend when he has a fickle heart." Spark said and shook his head.
"Well, it's possible, considering he has a crazy brother like you!" Vien teased, her face furrowing but maintaining a serious expression.
Spark was stunned for a moment before he gave Vien a forced smile, to which she responded with a fake smile as well.
"You are even more senseless than he."
Vien angrily pulled her hands away from his. How irritating and childish.
"But, Nanny, seriously, can I ask you something ?" Spark wanted to inquire about Marlie. So he gave her a serious look, which made Vien a little concerned.
Meanwhile, Chad managed to convince Marlie to go to the bedroom and rest for a while. Chad believed that would refresh her. Maybe after taking an afternoon nap, she will be okay.
Chad had been wanting to talk about her dress but decided not to criticize her due to the pressure she seemed to be under.
"Are you comfortable with what you're wearing?" He inquired, taking a thorough glance at Marlie. He tried not to let his anger show. Remembering how Spark carried her nearly sent him into rage, but he held it back for fear of upsetting his wife even more.
"I need some privacy to change." her faint voice sounded.
"I'll ask the nanny to bring you something to eat. Change your clothes and get back to bed, okay," Chad said as he caressed her hair before he left the room, allowing Marlie to breathe freely.
She felt suffocated by the whole 'good girl' facade. Marlie got out of bed and happily pulled on her clothes, dancing to celebrate the success of her plans. She felt both proud and satisfied.
In the meantime, Chad had almost reached the bottom of the stairs when he remembered,
" I forgot to ask Charlie what she wishes to eat."
On any other day, he would have suggested a meal, but today, he felt that he had unintentionally wronged her. Therefore, he decided to fulfill her requests, starting with the food she preferred to eat at that moment. "Let's go and ask her."
Chad turned around to go back and ask Marlie. However, his body froze when he opened the door to the room he had had just left seconds ago.
What were his eyes seeing? No, he can't see that! He wanted to turn and leave, but his body and feet refused to move.
Marlie, on the other hand, felt all the hair on her back stand up. She felt eyes on her back, making her slowly turn to see who it was.
She was shocked to see Chad standing there. Staring at her in disbelief and astonishment.
Her first reaction was supposed to turn around or pick up her clothes and cover herself. However, when her eyes met Chad's, she couldn't move an inch.
Chad gulped down his saliva as he stared at the pale and beautiful naked skin I'm front of him.
His eyes landed on her breast, which was covered with a transparent light blue bra. He could clearly see her pink nipples through the bra.
Bringing his eyes to her flawless and flat stomach with a cute little hole at her navel, Chad felt tingly and hot at the same time.
Instead of leaving the room, he moved inside and closed the door behind him. His heart was screaming at him to leave the room, but his brain kept pushing him towards his wife.
Marlie, who had become a statue, also couldn't move or scream at him. Surprisingly, the flashes of memory started popping up. She wanted him to come closer to her. She wanted him to hold her and feel her skin.
Even if part of her wanted to fight the emotions running through her body, something was stopping her. His presence was bringing back the sweetness she felt in the embrace of that mysterious guy.
By the time she realized Chad was already in front of her with eyes never leaving hers.
When he was closer enough, his right hand snaked around her slender waist and pulled her flat against his chest.
His sudden action made her gasp, but surprisingly, she didn't push him away or complain.
She raised her eyes to meet his. The tension between them was getting thicker with each passing second.
"Charlie... what are you doing to me?" Chad whispered, his warm breath fanning her face.
She didn't know how to answer his question, so she just stared at him. Her eyes flickered from his eyes to his lips. It was as if she were dying to kiss him.
Of course, Chad noticed and questioned her... "Can I kiss you?"
Marlie, who has become a woman with desire, couldn't help but nod in agreement.
With her confirmation, Chad didn't wait a second before he lowered his lips and claimed hers in a slow, passionate kiss.
Marlie didn't find his kiss repulsive. On the contrary, she liked it, she loved it, and she enjoyed it. She wanted more of him, so she opened her mouth slightly to allow him access.
Chad didn't reject the offer and thrust his tongue into her mouth, tasting every corner of it.
The kiss became more passionate and needy as Marlie wrapped her hands around his neck to pull him closer to her body.
Chad held her waist tenderly and tilted his head sideways from time to time as the kiss continued.
Chad broke the kiss to allow them to take in some oxygen before he placed his hands under her ass and said... "Jump!"
Marlie, who was dazed with lust and his intoxicated smell, obeyed without any hesitation.
When she jumped, Chad pulled her up, making her lock her legs around his waist before slamming their lips on each other.
His hands explored her exposed back as Marlie busied her fingers by combing them through his silky and soft hair.
Those actions ignited the doormat desire and lust in Chad's body as he felt the front of his pants tighten.
They kissed each other as if they were a couple who wanted nothing but to have their first consummation.
Suddenly, Marlie's phone rang, but they were so into their passion that they couldn't hear the phone ring for the first time.
But on the second ring, it brought them back from their trance of desire.
With the cellphone ring, every spell they cast on each other diminished at that moment, and the reality of what they just did came rushing to them.
Marlie immediately got down from his body and ran to the bathroom without saying a word and locked it.
Chad stood there for a moment to process what had just happened. Then he also left the room to go to his study room.
'What the hell just happened?' That was the same thought going through the couple's mind.
Marlie processed fully what just transpired and realisation dawned on her,
"He is the one. I felt it... Chad is the one."
