Chapter 43 Chapter 44
"Who was that person...?" She was eager to know which among the guys she supposedly kissed.
However, Marlie didn't finish her question as Mark's call interrupted her. She stared at the screen of her phone, torn between wanting to hear about what happened at her prom and answering her partner's call. What the hell!
Noticing her conflicted gaze, Spark smirked... "Aren't you going to pick up the call?" He asked, his smile fading slightly before Marlie shifted her attention back to her phone.
"Excuse me, I need to use the restroom," Marlie said, excusing herself from the table and heading toward the washroom with complicated emotions.
As soon as Marlie left, Spark's face turned gloomy. He also picked up his phone and made a call. "If I see that worthless news about Chad online in the next five seconds, consider yourself fired!" He ended the call and let out a heavy sigh. Despite their constant fights, Spark and Chad always had each other's backs regardless.
However, Spark had to make another call to ensure that his whereabouts with this supposed Charlie wouldn't be leaked.
"I will send you my location. Ensure that no reporter comes here!" Spark instructed before hanging up. It seemed that was his style. He's a man of few words with great actions. He never cared about the process. All that matters to him is the result.
Inside the washroom, Marlie stood before the mirror, staring at her reflection while imagining the significant part of her life that remained elusive. "Why can't I remember what happened that day? And who was that person? Why is that part of my memory blocked?
Spark, is he that person? No, that can't be. Spark is the person who loved my sister sincerely. He can't be the guy in my dreams right?" she questioned herself before Mark's second call came through.
Marlie composed herself before picking up the call.
"Are they here?" she inquired, not bothered by pleasantries as always.
"Yes, they are almost there," Mark assured her before she ended the call with a satisfying smile.
Marlie touched up her makeup slightly, addressing her reflection, "We need to put this matter on hold for now. First things first... but we must find out, no matter what!" She assured herself.
Back at the mansion, Chad hurried to his mother's room and found her seated in front of her dressing mirror.
"Did you have to tarnish our family's reputation to attain your desires?" Chad coldly interrogated his bewildered mother, Silvia, who frowned in displeasure.
"Mind your manners, young man. I am your mother!" Silvia retorted furiously. Regardless of what the problem was or what she had done wrong, her son had no right to talk to her in that manner.
"Manners, you say? Well, I can hardly possess something that was never bestowed upon me!" Chad bitterly replied. He was fuming with rage. However, he was also trying to hold his anger back because the woman in front of him was his mother.
Silvia glared at him in anger. How could he say such a thing? That she never taught him manners? It was an insult to have it thrown in her face. Which parents didn't teach their kids some manners?
However, Silvia gave him a confused look. "What's going on?" She asked, still in puzzlement.
"Don't give me that look. I just want you to know that I instructed my assistant to remove your painstakingly crafted handiwork," Chad stated, staring icily at his mother.
Silvia looked at him in utter confusion. "What work?" she questioned. Nothing was making sense to her. What did she do? Why was her son so furious at her?
"It doesn't suit you to behave this way!" Chad taunted his mother, but Silvia still had no idea what he was referring to. How could she, when she wasn't the one who leaked the photographs?
"I hope I won't have to come here and engage in pointless discussions with you," Chad warned as he turned to leave. No, if his mother had initiated a move, then he would have to make an even stronger one. That was the essence of their family - using one person's mistakes to gain advantage.
"I no longer want anyone mentioning divorce. I have given Charlie the power to decide when she wants to pursue it. Whatever we signed before is null and void, so forget about bringing in Angelina...mother" Chad sarcastically called her "mother" before storming out of the room.
Silvia couldn't contain her anger. She had to find out what her son was talking about, so she immediately called Angelina, who had also seen the news and was stuck in her office.
Everyone was in utter confusion except the culprit. The same question went through their mind... Who leaked those photos?
Angelina was in distress. How was she going to face people outside? Audrey was the only one providing solace by her side. All the employees had already heard about it, thanks to those who saw the news first, or precisely when it was uploaded online.
Silvia, on the other hand, was in shock. She knew in her heart that she hadn't divulged any scandalous information to anyone. How did they obtain the pictures? And when were they even taken from her safe?
What was more worrying for her was her friends taunting her with this.
"Those vultures were waiting for an opportunity like this." Silvia knew she had to do something, no matter what the cost she had to fix this.
Chad had wanted to prevent Charlie from seeing the news, so he went into their room to find her. But she was nowhere to be found. He then proceeded downstairs to inquire with Vien about Charlie's whereabouts.
"Nanny, where is Charlie?" Chad questioned Vien.
"She went out. Didn't she inform you?" Vien responded cluelessly. But she knew exactly where and why Marlie had gone out and even who she was with. "Is everything alright, my boy?"
Chad was occupied in his thoughts and didn't have the time to explain but just prayed,
"Charlie, I hope you don't come across this rubbish. How would you handle yourself if you saw it?"
The least he knew was that... the person he was worrying about was the same person who leaked those pictures.
What would he do when he finds out the truth?
