Chapter 299

Scarlett still held onto my shoulders tightly, her chin rested on my shoulder, her red lips slightly parted, emitting a continuous and seductive moan.

Meanwhile, Ryan stayed in the study, burying himself in his work.

I smoothly brought Scarlett to climax.

Lost in my thoughts, my walking pace slowed down significantly.

Scarlett and Ryan had already entered the elevator, while I was still following Scarlett's steps, lost in my thoughts.

"David!" Scarlett waited for me in the elevator for a while, but I didn't catch up, she called my name urging me on.

Instinctively, I looked up, and Scarlett's delicate figure gradually came into focus before me, and I finally snapped out of it.

"Yeah? I'm coming!" I said, taking a few quick steps into the elevator.

Scarlett frowned, "What were you thinking about? You were so lost in thought that you weren't even walking properly."

"Just thinking about my girlfriend." I shook my head, deliberately fabricating a lie.

Due to Ryan's presence, I couldn't be straightforward.

Scarlett didn't know if I was telling the truth or not, so she withdrew her gaze and didn't bother with me anymore.

It wasn't until we entered Mia's hospital room that Scarlett didn't talk to me.

"Mia, I've come to see you," Scarlett greeted Mia as she placed some fruits on Mia's bedside table.

"How come you're here? I didn't tell you I was hospitalized," Mia said, puzzled.

Scarlett put on a stern face on purpose. "How could you! You didn't even tell me about being hospitalized, have you stopped considering me a good friend?"

Mia looked at Scarlett and felf confused. "Sorry, my bad. I didn't want you to worry. But who told you I was in the hospital? I only informed the company when I took leave. I didn't tell anyone else."

"David told me." Scarlett turned to me and said to Mia.

As soon as Scarlett finished speaking, Mia's gaze fell on me, making me nervous.

I quickly explained, "I heard it from the company. When you were absent, your work was handed over to the director, who wanted to explain the reasons to me to avoid any misunderstandings."

Mia scolded, her face stern. "Grace can't keep anything a secret!"

Scarlett chimed in, "Cut it out! Tell me, what's going on? Why are you in the hospital? It's not like you to be heartbroken."

Mia sighed and then said, "Okay, I won't hide it from you anymore. I faked being hospitalized."

"Why?" Scarlett asked, puzzled.

Mia explained in detail. "Because I want to call off the engagement with Matthew. I can't be with a man who cheats for the rest of my life. But our families don't agree. They think after all this time we've been together, and with the cooperation between our families, canceling the engagement would lead to significant losses."

"So, you played the suicide card, got yourself hospitalized, and pressured your family into agreeing to cancel the engagement?" Scarlett widened her eyes in surprise, asking.

Mia nodded, "Yeah, I can't stand the sight of him now. I had to find a way to call off the engagement, but it seems this method hasn't worked. Can you help me figure out what to do?"

After thinking for a moment, Scarlett said, "I actually support your family's decision because there are too many entangled interests between you two. Matthew has also gone from being a poor guy to a wealthy man with your family's help. He has accepted your family's help for so many years; so he must have some assets of his own. If you cancel the engagement, all the help your family provided him would go to waste."

"But I can't be with a cheater. Just the thought of him kissing other women, or even other body parts, makes me sick." Mia said with disdain, showing her strong aversion to uncleanliness.

However, it seemed she didn't have much aversion towards me.

Scarlett retorted, "You're being naive. Who said marriage must involve intimacy and kissing? Marriage is about binding interests together, but you are still free. He can cheat, and you can also find other men. And doesn't Matthew's bar have male models for erotic services? After you're married, you can go there and have fun with those male models. If he ends up being cuckolded, it's on him."

"Damn," Mia looked at Scarlett with a mix of surprise and admiration, seemingly not expecting Scarlett to have such a cunning plan. "Why didn't I think of that?"

Scarlett smirked and then added, "Look, my point makes sense, right? After marriage, you share assets. If Matthew still spends money on his mistress, you can sue her. Just think of it, why do women get involved with married men? It's mostly about money. But if Matthew can't spend on her anymore, how long do you think she'll stick around?"

Except for Mia, I was also astonished to hear Scarlett's conversation. I never expected Scarlett, who was cold at work and gentle at home, to have such a devious plan when it came to dealing with infidelity.

And it seemed there was no way to counter this plan.

In any case, the one who would lose out was Matthew.

At that moment, I felt relieved that Scarlett wasn't the first person I encountered. If I were the one marrying her, and she found out about my entanglements with other women, I would probably be in a lot of troubles.

Mia still felt worried, "But I'm married. We share assets. It wouldn't be appropriate for me to use our shared property to hire male models."

Scarlett nodded and then revealed another plan. "You're right, but you can use your family's money. Your parents, your aunt, your family is wealthy, so why worry about not having money?"

Mia's eyes were filled with admiration as she looked at Scarlett. "Scarlett! You're my savior! I've decided, I'll do as you say! But about the male models, I'm a bit of a clean freak. They serve other women too. How about you introduce David to me as my boyfriend? We're all family, it's more cost-effective to give me David than someone else."

Upon hearing this, I was instantly shocked, and looked back and forth between them.

Weren't they plotting against Matthew? How did the conversation suddenly turn to me?

"Don't be silly, David already has a girlfriend. Pick someone else," Scarlett said, her eyes curved, showing no emotion in her beautiful eyes.

But from her indifferent tone, it seemed she wasn't too happy about her friend showing interest in me.

"Girlfriend? Is that true? We work together every day, how come I've never heard about it?" Mia's gaze was fixed on me.

Clearly, she was waiting for my response, hoping to hear my answer.

I smiled awkwardly, "It's true, but my girlfriend is currently on a business trip abroad and hasn't returned yet."
