Chapter 53 – Epilogue

Like her first wedding, Solene strode into the aisle with numerous people watching. However, on this occasion, they were all souls. The majority of them were grounded, sitting on the pews, but there were others too levitating in the air. They were all dressed in white, beige, gray, and red uniforms, signifying their designations in Sattus. However, Solene saw them not as souls without a shell, but real people with real lives, living in this realm she had come to love.

As she inched closer and closer to the altar, Solene stared ahead in wonder. During their three-day stay in the Fair Silver Estate, Henri mentioned something about a surprise. This surprise was the newly built garden in Castle Vatlavus, created only for her, or as he stated—technically a renovated garden since the first one was destroyed during Caym’s attack.

Immediately, Solene saw this as the perfect place to hold her second wedding, so here she was now, in all her glory, wearing the same wedding dress she wore on Earth, the same veil, and the same jewelry. In addition to this, she wore a crown that matched Henri’s. It was metallic black, with two thin bands as opposed to his thick ones, and it had six ruby red gems attached to six arrow-shaped spikes, representing the different lands of Sattus sectioned by the eternal flame.

This crown was just for formality purposes though; to inform the leaders of the other realms that she was not only his mate, but his official queen.

This said leaders were all present; some with their corresponding mates, and some attending alone. There was Alpha King Aero and his wife, Luna Queen Serena who was carrying their fourth child, sitting on the left side of the aisle, front and center. Next to them was Demon King Andrei with his mate and soon-to-be-queen of Straghris, Isabella. They were followed by Lady Yllana, Lord Jacobi, Queen Adna, and the Dark Vampire, Lord Zuir Hale, who all looked unbothered without companions. Lord Mage Aizen and his mate, Hannah, sat behind them, looking as radiant as ever; the Celestial Realm Representative, Areeni, was beside them; and lastly, Viscount Daniel of the Earth Realm, and King Lucien of Zaxonia and his Master Guardian wife, Queen Nicolette, who sat behind the werewolf couple.

When Solene moved her gaze to the right, she smiled brighter, seeing her mother in attendance. Meridith was given the chance to see this wedding, and with Henri’s help, using astral projection, her body lay safely on their family house, while her soul stayed on Sattus. She was accompanied by her father, who held his wife’s shoulder with so much love and devotion.

Solene dipped her head to acknowledge them. They returned the gesture and smiled wider.

Focusing now on the altar, her heart leaped as she spotted her groom in his true form; in his long dark blue hair, reddish gray-green eyes, and black tuxedo suit. Around him was the same asymmetrical cape he wore in their first wedding, except now, he had silver chains across his chest, and the theta symbol as breastpin.

She smiled at Henri, to which he easily witnessed despite the veil she wore. She saw him smile back and lifted his hand impatiently.

With this, she didn’t care about the ceremonial march anymore. She hurried her steps and received his hand with eagerness.

“Sorry, I couldn’t wait to be next to you,” Solene stated in an apologetic, but playful smile.

Henri chuckled and shook his head. “Don’t be, Solene,” he said. “I would have done the same.” He guided her to the raised platform, which consisted only of her favorite flower —tulips—made into an arch, and the castle facade as their magnificent backdrop.

They stopped in the middle of the stage just as the vicar joined them. When Solene glanced at him, her eyes slightly widened. The vicar was in fact the same man who officiated their church wedding.

“Your Majesties, I am glad we could be in this same position again, but this time, in the Kingdom of Sattus,” he stated softly, bowing to them at the same time.

“Monsignor Palma,” Henri acknowledged, “please proceed.”

The vicar tipped his chin down in agreement. He raised his arms up and spoke the same introductory words he used during the first wedding, but with a twist.

“We are gathered here today to witness the union of two perfect souls: King Hein and Queen Solene. Since time immemorial, the Kingdom of Sattus has never had a queen. Now, we finally have one, and she is the best the Universe has created for our king and for this land.”

He looked at the two and continued, “Your Majesties, if you could direct your attention on the floor.”

Henri and Solene looked down as instructed and saw a fountain spring emerge from the ground directly where they stood.

Solene felt her feet wet that instant. She glanced at Henri and gave him a questioning brow. “The Holy Water of the River Enyd, I reckon?” she stated.

“Yes,” Henri bobbed his head. The same gilded chalice from the first wedding appeared on his right hand and brought it up near her lips.

Solene watched as shimmering holy water filled the empty chalice. She watched her veil too as Henri lifted it up from her face, exposing her beauty for him and the audience to behold.

“Drink thy cup, Solene St. Fair, and be my queen —the Queen of Sattus,” the words rang in her head. She controlled herself from giggling after a deja vu feeling bloomed in her chest.

This gesture had happened twice to them now. First was during their church wedding while the second was inside his chamber. He mentioned something like this to happen the moment they wed again, and he wasn’t joking. While on Earth, he opted out the words ‘Queen of Sattus’ in the explanation.

With eyes twinkling, Solene took the chalice and drank her share. Henri did the same when she handed it. The fountain spring around them released a shine, and this shine expanded to all the river and fountain chains of Sattus. The crowd cheered and applauded when they saw the effect of their exchange.

“This didn’t happen when we drank the holy water the first and second time,” Solene remarked. She gazed at Henri and found him already looking at her with a grin. Then he winked.

“Sattus sometimes wants to show off,” he said.

“Hm, I think it’s not the kingdom, Henri, but you.”

“Oh, my queen,” he sighed with a lighthearted expression on his face. “Here, I’ll explain for you. The first time you drank from the chalice, you did it for me as Henri,” he continued. “The second one, you did it for me as Hein.”

She cocked a brow, slowly following his explanation.

“This third one, you did it for Sattus as its queen, and Sattus is overjoyed with it, hence the light show of the River Enyd. However, Sattus and I are connected, so yes, you could say that the glow is partly because of me—simply a happy husband who just wants to show off his wife.”

“Oh Henri, you are deviously romantic,” her cheeks bloomed red.

Soft laughter reached her ears then. She took delight in this until the vicar interrupted them.

“Now, it is time for your vows, Your Majesties,” he said with due care, opting to skip the aras, veil and cord since these were human traditions not needed in Sattus.

Recollecting that they didn’t actually spoke their vows in their first wedding, Henri and Solene nodded at each other. Though they were unable to prepare, they knew just what to say.

“My king,”— Solene started, realizing she couldn’t hold on with the swell of her heart anymore— “Henri...Hein, the Master Grim Reaper, the Archangel of Death, the Demon of Death, the Deliverer, the King of Sattus, the King of the Underworld—however you are named, I accept you as my mate and my husband. Destiny made me for you. I am not whole without you. You gave me strength, happiness and love—most especially love—and for that I vow to give you the same.”

Henri, sensing it was his turn, pulled an object from his vest and showed it to Solene.

“I think it is time for me to return this to you,” he said as he slid her wedding ring around her finger.

Solene gasped as she gazed at the platinum band. “Oh god, it didn’t occur to me this ring wasn’t on me the entire time I was in Gehenna! Why do you have it and how?”

“I took it from you before I left for Gehenna to retrieve your soul, Solene,” he explained. “With me as Hope and with your memories on Earth gone, I might have a hard time to convince you, so this ring was my back-up plan. I wasn’t able to use it because Caym appeared.”

“Oh, Henri...” Solene muttered. “Thank you...thank you for returning this to me.” With this symbol of love returned, her heart expanded more of happiness.

“Solene St. Fair,” he continued as he held her hands higher. “My mate, my queen, and my life, I would do everything for you and I mean everything, even one that turns me into a woman just to be with you.”

Hearing this, it made Solene chuckle. From the audience, Jacob shook his head and quietly laughed too.

“I am not complete without you, Solene. Never have been without you. The Universe heard my lonely heart and created you for me. As your husband, I vow to protect you, give you happiness, and give you love. Time and death will never keep us apart. They will be our allies as we move forward into our future together. You are the only one for me, Solene, and I love you.”

“I love you too,” she replied without hesitation.

Henri closed the distance between them. Not breaking eye contact, Solene angled her head to give him better access for what she expected as their first official kiss in this one-of-a-kind wedding.

When their lips touched, more cheers and applause was heard all over the garden, and this echoed across Sattus. The air was soaked with joy and love—a first in the entire history of Sattus.

Henri and Solene faced their people when they withdrew. Nearby, Kelios gave them a bow, and this was followed by Solene’s parents, the leaders of the realms, and the rest of the souls present.

“The union is now fulfilled!” the vicar cried out. “Let this be known across all creations of the Universe!”

“Hail King Hein! Hail Queen Solene!” Kelios shouted. Everyone echoed his words, chanting it on top of their lungs.

Henri and Solene waved their hands in response. “I have one question for you, Henri,” Solene whispered, unable to contain her curiosity anymore.

Henri glanced down at her and asked, “What is it, my queen?”

“Your parents. You haven’t introduced me to your parents. Where are they?”

He squeezed her hand, awarded her a smile and watched the crowd again, “As you already know, my Earth parents are already dead. Their souls have moved on to their final destination out of Sattus.”

“And your parents here?” she added.

Henri held her gaze again. “Solene, I don’t have any parents.”

She shifted back and gaped. “What do you mean?”

“I was created by the Universe for the sole purpose of regulating the souls of the realms,” he continued. “I don’t have a mother or a father, but I can be one and I am ready to be one for our children.”

It was the only explanation Solene needed and the perfect one. However, she still couldn’t control her sadness from appearing on her face.

“Oh Henri...”

“Don’t be sad for me, Solene,” he shook his head and squeezed her hand some more. “I am used to it. What’s important is that I have you now. I won’t be lonely anymore. I may not have a father as a role model to follow, and I only know death my entire life, but I can assure you, I will try my best to be the loving father our children needs. I will cherish and take care of them as much as I cherish and take care of you.”

Solene shifted and fully faced him. She cupped his face and traced his handsome features that she was sure their children would inherit.

“Then they will definitely get the best father there is in this land, Henri, as I have with you as my husband.”

The crowd was treated with another passionate kiss from their rulers—or at least a peek of it, for Henri teleported both of them in his chamber and did what he was excited to do with her and that was to start a family.

A family of conjurers, grim reapers and angels of death, justice and love.

The End.
