Chapter 167 - My Rejected Wife Is A Billionaire

"She's what?" Justin couldn't help but ask.

Lucas suddenly burst into laughter. "Justin, it looks like you've fallen for her."

If it wasn't love, why would Justin be so sensitive to his question?

Justin remained silent.

Shadowed by the night, even his presence became more oppressive.

He pressed his lips and then gradually raised his head to meet Lucas' gaze. "And what if I have?"

Lucas' eyes widened in shock before revealing a mix of realization and surprise.

He had braced for Justin's usual denial or at least silence.

Yet, here was an admission.

After a while, Lucas laughed again.

Justin stood still while watching him laugh, frowning in silence.

Justin was always unruffled even when stirred.

It was a testament to his success and a trait Lucas found infuriating.

At that moment, Lucas felt an urge to shatter Justin's composure.

He couldn't believe Justin had harmed that kind-hearted woman so deeply.

A woman who, for Justin's sake, had willingly dimmed her brilliance, assuming a role less than she was capable of.

"Justin, you'd better not fall for her," Lucas finally stated.

"Why?" Justin asked.

Like a predator observing its prey, he kept analyzing Lucas' every move, knowing that he must be hiding some secrets.

However, Lucas maintained his smile, not revealing anything.

Though his smile was as gentle as usual, Justin sensed a hint of chill hidden within it.

Then, Lucas turned around, got into his car, and drove away.

"Mr. Quinn."

Late into the night, Marvin entered Justin's office.

Justin sat in his chair, lost in thought.

Hearing Marvin's voice, Justin pushed himself up from his chair.

"The information you provided last time, are you certain it was accurate?" he questioned.

After a brief pause, Marvin instantly realized he was referring to Cecilia's information.

"It was accurate," he affirmed. "I stand by my work. If I couldn't deliver, I'd be the first to apologize, but I wouldn't feed you false information."

"Could it be that you were given false information without realizing?" Justin pressed.

"Impossible," Marvin replied confidently.

Justin nodded.

Then, he pulled open a drawer and tossed a document on the desk.

"Check it out. Is this the file you gave me?"

Marvin picked it up, glanced at the cover, and promptly said, "No, it's not."

"No?" Justin was taken aback.

Marvin raised the paper bag. "My documents always have my signature on the side. This one doesn't."

He pointed at the side of the paper bag, which was as thin as a thread.

"This is my special mark, a detail easily overlooked."

It was indeed too thin. Even if anyone signed their name on it, nobody would notice.

Justin inspected the document with his phone's magnifier, finding it blank.

Had his information been switched?

"I have another copy. I can send it to you again," Marvin offered.

Justin nodded silently and placed the paper bag down, pinching it in frustration.

Who dared to switch his documents right under his nose?

After Marvin left, Justin sank back into his chair.

He squinted his eyes, which were now filled with rage.

He eventually picked up his phone and instructed Bob, "Check if anyone has been in my office recently."

Inside the dressing room, Erin was applying her makeup leisurely.

She had subtly hinted at her ongoing connection with Justin, positioning them as close friends, if not lovers.

This ambiguity made others hesitant to cross her, hoping to gauge Justin's stance. Though she hadn't immediately regained her lost resources, conversations had begun to shift in her favor.

Suddenly, she felt a gaze piercing through her.

Feeling a chill, she looked up and spotted a tall man at the door.

His sharp features were set in a cold, unreadable expression, his eyes locking onto Erin with an inscrutable intensity.

Though he didn't seem angry at all, Erin felt an inexplicable panic, instinctively bracing herself against the table as she stood.

"Justin?"

Erin looked at him and said flatteringly, "What brings you here all of a sudden?"

"How's your sister today?" Justin inquired.

Mimicking concern, Erin frowned and replied, "Same as always."

Then, she sighed deeply, "After she got lost with my dad, she must have suffered a lot to become incredibly timid. She could be scared by the slightest noise. My dad and I have to be extra careful, even just feeding her. I don't know when she can get better."

"Did you consult a doctor?" Justin asked.

"We did. The doctor said mental illness is complex, not something that can be cured overnight. There's no easy fix. All we can do is be there for her, hoping for a miracle," Erin replied.

"If that's the case, I'll spend some time with her."

"Sure, that would be... What?"

Erin had reflexively agreed, assuming Justin would leave it at that, just like before.

It took a moment for her to realize what he actually meant, her perfectly made-up face stiffening, a shade of panic setting in.
