Chapter 114 - My Rebellious Luna

BECKY POV

NEXT DAY

My mother has everyone in this pack running around getting everything ready for the baby shower. She would have preferred for it to be a surprise but with all the ruckus she had going on, that wasn’t going to happen. Plus, the amount of food that has to be made has the kitchen packed. Luckily, they are only handling the sides. Jason offered to man the indoor grill when he arrived this morning.

Evangeline is now a chubby little ball of happiness. I’ve stolen her from her parents for most of the morning. “Give her here Becky, you need to get ready.” Alice says, reaching out for her. I kissed her chubby cheeks and reluctantly handed her back. “Fine. But she’s all mine tomorrow. You guys can go on a date or something.” I said, waiving my finger at a nodding Alice.

Lilimar tries to take the baby from her but I pull her away. “Oh no you don’t. You need to get ready with me. Come on!” I pulled her with me to my room. “But it’s your baby shower Becky. I’m fine the way I am.” She whines. Her brattyness is off the charts. Jordan needs to handle that. “I said I had a surprise for you, didn’t I?” I wiggled my eyebrows and she perked up.

When we walked in, she saw the two dresses laid out on the bed. I picked up a pale green maxi dress with short sleeves and handed it to her. “It’s perfect Becky! Thank you so much.” Giving me a quick hug, she ran into the closet to change. I grabbed my dusty pink lace maxi dress and admired it. The color wasn’t really me, but I loved the plunging neckline and the overlapping side slit.

It had a flower pattern on the lace and straps that were tied around my neck. I was happy that we were having the baby shower inside. It was too cold outside for something so dainty. I knew how Lilimar felt and I wanted to show her that we could still be sexy while pregnant. When she walked out, I immediately pulled her to the mirror to show her how amazing she looked.

“Jordan is going to sneak you away the second he sees you.” I teased and her cheeks went pink. She shook her head and began doing her make-up. She had no idea my mother insisted on throwing us a joint baby shower. When I told her that Lilimar didn’t know the gender and didn’t have one, she scolded me for being a bad friend. Pointing out that you can still have a baby shower without knowing the gender.

I knew the gender and had everything for her nursery stored away but no one else knew. So we asked the pack members to bring gender-neutral gifts. I was so excited! The best baby showers are the ones where you surprise the mommy to be. Once we were ready, we walked down the stairs where Luke and Jordan were waiting for us.

When Luke’s eyes trailed up my body, I nearly ran back upstairs. Lilimar knowingly held my arm and frowned at me. It’s not my fault, everything that man does drives me wild. Jordan was practically eating her with his eyes, and she was as red a tomato. I’m sure she understood how I felt. “Let’s go before we get in trouble.” Luke mumbled as he took my arm.

When we opened the door, everyone yelled surprise which had Lilimar confused, since I knew about the shower. Then she noticed two huge overstuffed chairs, with banners above them. One was pink with Mommy Becky on top and the other was a pale green with Mommy Lilimar on it. She began to tear up and Jordan hugged her. “Why are you crying baby?” He chuckled.

Lilimar sniffled and whipped her tears. “I’ve been so moody and bratty, I don’t deserve this.” She mumbled into his chest. “Stop it Lilimar! Get your butt over here and prepare yourself for the tortures of a true baby shower.” I grinned at her. It wasn’t as bad as I made it seem but it stopped her from crying. When my mother pulled us aside and measured our bellies, Lilimar looked at me questioningly.

I smiled and kept quiet. This was probably the most embarrassing game out of all of them. Having everyone guess how big you are. Great for an expecting mother’s self-esteem. The rest were less intrusive. Diapers filled with melted candy bars, which poop like candy bar is it? One of my favorites, now that I’m not participating, is passing the cucumbers between your legs game.

My mother was busy handing out big pink and green safety pins for everyone to wear. I began to miss my Tia Vero until I saw her walking around eyeing everyone. Checking if they crossed their arms or legs. “Tia?” I said and she ran over to me. “Becky! I didn't know you were here, how are you?” She asked while hugging me. “Good, when did you get here?” I looked at Luke, who smiled at me.

He knew! “We all arrived this morning, Rob and the boys are helping Jason outside.” She said with a smile. “Did you know?” I squinted my eyes at her. “My husband knows the penalty for keeping secrets from me.” She said simply and winked. I need to take some lessons from her. Even though I was sad I couldn’t have my entire family with me, it was nice to have the few that were able to be here. Plus, having all the pack members made up for it.

Lilimar was smiling and everyone was having a great time. I was nervous when my mom called me over so everyone could measure their strings against my belly. Jerry had the nerve to bring the longest string that would have to wrap around me three times! “Sorry pulga (flea), from far away you look bigger.” He grinned at me, and Celia slapped the back of his head.

He frowned at her playfully and they both ran off somewhere. I swear they are going to be the next ones to need a baby shower. Everyone was eating and laughing, having a good time. I laughed so hard when my mother pulled Brian from his seat and forced him to play one of the games. He looked so grumpy as he and the other men drank beer out of baby bottles. The best part was when he won and couldn’t stop himself from smiling and celebrating.

Looking over, I saw Matt’s parents. They are doing much better these days. They caught my eye and smiled at me. Looking around, I saw my mother laughing and joking with my pack members. My father was talking to Brian, who looked a little guarded but respectful. Then I heard Sonia. “I was not!” My Tia Vero was pointing at her legs, that were currently not crossed. “They were crossed! No seas tramposa and hand it over (Don't be a cheat).

Sonia took off the safety pin and placed it on the table in a huff. My Tia took it and pinned it on her dress victoriously, while grinning at Sonia. I couldn’t help but laugh at the fate of my poor pack members. My crazy family would drive them nuts in no time for sure.

“What’s funny Pastelito.” His arms wrapped around me as he nuzzled my neck. “Our family.” I sighed and watched as Celia high fived her mother-in-law, who had a ridiculous number of safety pins on her dress. We truly were meant to be a part of this pack in one way or another.
