Chapter 111 - My Rebellious Luna

BECKY POV

THIRTY DAYS LATER

The first week after the battle was one of the hardest times I ever had to face. Second, to losing my angelito (angel) that is. It helped that my mother and Luna Rose were there to help me be strong for the families of the warriors we lost, who all happened to be from our pack.

I thought Luna Rose would mind having my mother help but they made a good team. Both of them had dealt with loss and were mothers. Even though my mother’s heart was still tender from losing her mother, Nana Linda. She used all her experience to help me comfort my pack members to deal with their loss.

Mothers, fathers, mates and even children. Each family had some or all of those and it was hard to see them suffering. At first, I cried with them, then I dried my tears and became the person they could lean on. The one they could come to when the grief became to overwhelming.

We are still at this junction at the moment. As my mother pointed out, it will take time for all of us to get to the healing. Having her and my dad here for that first week was like a godsend. I was finally able to open up to them and explain what we were and what it meant. I could sense my father’s apprehension, but with my mother’s help he was able to keep an open mind.

Last week we announced Naomi’s execution to the pack. Which would happen today. No one was surprised or even sad about the news. Matt made mistakes but he was a good person deep down and an amazing Gamma. He didn’t deserve what happened to him.

Naomi deserved his rejection and to be executed. When she found out that was her fate, she remained silent. Yesterday she asked if she could speak to her wolf one last time. Normally, I would respect someone’s last wishes, but after everything she did. I didn’t hurt one bit to deny her. Keep in mind that I’ve spent days with his family, consoling his poor mother.

Although the execution will be held here, right where I used the machete on Hugh. I won't be attending, she doesn’t deserve my time. In fact, Lilimar and I both decided our time would be better spent working on our memorial wall. We decided to have one put up in front of the packhouse. It had pictures of all of the fallen warriors. The pups drew pictures for them and pack members wrote letters that they pinned on the wall.

Luke and Jordan had to attend, as witnesses. Anyone from the pack was welcome to come but many didn’t bother going. Just as we were finishing up, we heard a howl that signaled the execution had taken place. A few minutes later, Luke and Jordan walked up and dragged Lilimar and I to the dining hall for lunch. Where both our mates pulled us onto their laps.

Lilimar’s cute baby bump made her look like she had swallowed a small beach ball. She was already halfway through her pregnancy. “Stop staring at my belly!” She growled at me. For some reason, she’s a little self-conscious even though she looks adorable. “Hey! My baby bump just showed up too!” I tried to make her feel better.

She shook her head as Jordan scooped some food into her mouth. “It’s not the same, yours is still cute and small. I can’t see my feet!” She whined, covering her mouth, which was full of food. My poor friend was becoming grumpier by the day. Jordan whispered something in her ear that made her grin. She nodded her head and went back to eating happily. Eeww. “Chochina! (Nasty!)” I grimaced and she stuck her tongue out at me.

Luke spooned some food in my mouth and palmed my bump. At a little over two and a half months, my belly looked like I had eaten a pan full of chilaquiles in one sitting. When he tried to feed me some broccoli, I nearly gagged, turning away. His lips grazed my ear, making me shudder. “You need to eat healthy Pastelito. Para el bebe. (For the baby.).” I groaned and I ate the icky broccoli.

My Alpha kissed my cheek and rubbed my belly. Things between us have gone back to normal for the most part. I did get reprimanded for putting the pup in danger by facing Hugh. In the end, we both agreed that I need to be more careful, and he needs to be honest with me. It’s something we are both willing to work on.

I looked to my right and noticed how Jerry fit in perfectly with Celia at his side. He became our new Gamma along with Roland, who sat with his mate next to Celia. After everything Jerry did during the battle, he more than deserved that position.

When some of the, warriors complained they didn’t have an opportunity to compete for the position, Jerry said he would be more than happy to compete for it. He had trained most of his life with Rob. What everyone saw during the battle was all his strategic abilities. He didn’t even show them his fighting skills or endurance.

I may give him crap, but he was a football player all though high school and college. He was a marathon runner and an amateur boxer. Now that he was a wolf, I had no doubt he could hold his own. We decided to give him the position in interim until the tournament is set up next month. That would give everyone time to train.

Feeling my eyes on him, Jerry looked over and raised his eyebrow at me. “What?” He asked wondering what I was up to now. It’s not my fault, it’s so easy to mess with him. “I’m just happy you’re here, as my Gamma.” I grinned at him. It still bugs him that I’m his Luna. Which is hilarious because I don’t even see it as a position of authority, unless I’m forced to.

Luke bit my shoulder lightly, making me yelp. “Calmate Pastelito. (Calm down small cake.)” He said huskily in my ear making me shiver. He was trying to ruin my fun. “Quit it! I’m enjoying my pack.” I waived my finger at him in warning. I was done with seriousness for the moment.

We’ve all mourned our pack members and comforted those who lost someone. Dealt with all the nastiness of the battle. Our pups are no longer scarred of someone attacking them in their homes. Rob and my cousins helped with the repairs on the burnt and damaged buildings before they left. Rid ourselves of a traitor that never deserved the countless opportunities given to her.

I’m finally ready. Ready to be here for my pack, regardless of what they need. To enjoy my mate, with his fine ass. Oh, and to chase everyone around with my camera and drive them nuts. I have a huge portrait I’ve been waiting to give Brian. The best part is the look of shock and anger on his face in it. Now I can enjoy giving it to him. Time for us to move forward.
