Chapter 49
Chapter 49
Final Chapter – Under the Same Moon
The throne hall was prepared like few times in the kingdom’s history. Red and gold tapestries hung from the walls, torches and lamps lit every corner, and the scent of fresh flowers filled the air. Outside, the howls of the pack echoed in chorus, like an ancestral hymn celebrating the arrival of the heirs.
The day had come: the official presentation of the princes.
I stood, supported by Kilian, still a little tired after childbirth, but with my heart overflowing. In my arms rested our little daughter, while he carried our son. Both were wrapped in white mantles embroidered with silver threads, symbols of purity and continuity.
When the doors opened and the people saw the royal pups, a reverent silence covered the hall. No one breathed for a moment, as if everyone wanted to engrave that moment in memory. And then, cheers erupted. Wolves, warriors, and courtiers howled, bowed their heads, and beat their chests in respect.
—Long live the Lunar Princes! —Ian shouted, his voice so powerful it resonated through every corner.
Gabriel, standing beside him, smiled with pride. The warriors struck the ground with their spears, and the court bowed deeply.
I saw tears in the eyes of some elders, who had feared losing the royal line during the dark days when Kilian had been absent. I saw hope in the youth, strength in the warriors, and relief in the mothers. And I understood, with absolute certainty, that our children were not only ours: they belonged to the entire kingdom.
Kilian glanced at me, that look full of love that only he could give me. With a slight nod, he signaled for me to speak.
I took a deep breath and stepped forward. The entire hall fell silent.
—Today we celebrate life, hope, and unity —I said, my voice firm though my heart raced—. These little ones we present today are not only our children, but the promise of a future where betrayal will never divide us again.
I held my daughter tightly against my chest and continued:
—The kingdom has faced harsh trials, but we are still here, stronger, united. May the birth of these princes remind us that there will always be a new dawn after the darkest night.
Excited murmurs filled the hall. People nodded, some cried, others howled softly. It was the beginning of a new era.
Kilian lifted the little prince, and his voice roared over everyone:
—These pups are proof that even in darkness, light can be born. Today we celebrate not only my children, but the rebirth of the kingdom!
The ovation was deafening. The hall vibrated with the pack’s strength, and for a moment, I felt part of something immense, eternal, that surpassed even myself.

That night, far from the celebration’s noise, while the moon rose bright over the castle, I took a moment for myself. The princes slept in their cradles, and Kilian watched me from the bed, lying back, with that calm gaze that only appeared when we were alone.
I approached the window, letting the silver light bathe my face, and let my thoughts flow.
"I never imagined this ending for me."
I remembered the first time I killed as a human, the nights of guilt drowned in alcohol, the pacts with darkness to survive. I remembered the blood, the faces of those who feared me, the mask of hardness I wore to avoid breaking.
"Life gave me a second chance… and this time, I won’t waste it."
I knew this truth was shared only between Kilian and me. To the rest of the world, I was simply his queen, his Moon, but to myself, I was so much more: the woman who had risen from her ashes.
I leaned over my children, caressing their faces. They breathed softly, innocent, unaware of the weight of the crown they would one day wear.
"I want them to grow knowing their mother fought, that she made mistakes, that she fell and rose again. No matter how dark the night, the moon always shines again."
When I turned, I found Kilian’s eyes. He rose and came toward me, holding me in his arms.
—Thank you —I whispered.
—For what? —he asked, caressing my cheek.
—For never letting go of me, even when I doubted myself. For reminding me who I am when I forgot. For giving me this life.
He smiled, kissing my forehead.
—Don’t thank me. If anyone should give thanks, it’s me.
His voice was low, but full of certainty.
—Thank you for being my queen, for being my Moon. Thank you for choosing to stay with me, even when destiny tried to separate us.
I kissed him. It was a deep, serene kiss, full of fulfilled promises.
—This is our happy ending —I said against his lips.
—No —he corrected with a smile—. This is only the beginning of our eternity.

Over time, the kingdom prospered like never before. The scars of betrayal healed, and the pack grew stronger, more united. Young wolves trained with pride, knowing they served an Alpha and a Moon who had proven unbreakable.
The names of our children were proclaimed throughout the territory, carrying with them the promise of continuity. The people had new faces on which to deposit their dreams, and we, as parents, had one more reason to always fight for peace.
I, who once thought I was destined to die alone and forgotten, found in this life everything I never dreamed of: love, family, a home.
And as I rested against Kilian’s chest, listening to the heartbeat of his heart and the distant howls of the celebrating pack beneath the moon, I knew my destiny was fulfilled.
The Moon had given me a new beginning.
And in this new beginning, I, Abigaíl, Luciana, found my happy ending.
The End.
