Chapter 29

Chapter 29

Night had fallen over the kingdom like a cloak of silence, broken only by the murmur of the wind brushing against the windows. The embers in the fireplace crackled softly, as if they too were listening to what was about to happen. The royal chamber was immersed in a stillness that was not the absence of sound, but a waiting.

Abigaíl sat at the edge of the bed, her still-damp hair cascading down her bare back. The silk robe draped over her body seemed more a promise than a garment, barely held in place by a loose knot at her waist. Her eyes looked toward the window, but she wasn’t watching the landscape—she was staring at the shadows of her own confession. That revelation that stripped her more than any fabric, exposing her in her most vulnerable essence.

Kilian appeared behind her with silent steps, as though his feet respected the gravity of the moment. There was no longer doubt in his gaze. No more fear, no suspicion. Only the certainty that this woman—whether Luciana, Abigaíl, or whatever name she had borne in other lives—was his. Not by possession, but by choice.

He stopped behind her and slid his fingers through her damp hair, tangling them gently as if trying to memorize its texture. Abigaíl closed her eyes at his touch, and a shiver ran down her spine.

—You don’t need to say anything more —he whispered, his voice deep and warm—. But if you need to be heard... I’m here.

She took his hand and placed it over her chest, right where her heart beat hard.

—I needed it. I needed you to know who I am... and still stay.

Kilian turned her gently to face him. His amber eyes showed no fear or rejection, only a deep admiration.

—And how could I leave? —he murmured, bringing his face close to hers—. I saw you fight for your people. I saw you bleed for this kingdom. I saw the wolf in your eyes, yes... but also the woman who cries, who loves, who feels. There is no darkness that can drive me away from you, Luciana... Abigaíl... my queen.

His words sent a tremor through her. Not because of what they said, but because of what they promised. For the first time, she felt fully accepted. In all her complexity. Without masks, without disguises.

Kilian cupped her face in his hands and kissed her with a tenderness that contrasted with the intensity they both contained. Their lips met as if the world depended on that union, as if the universe realigned itself around that gesture.

The kiss deepened, from soft to profound, from sweet to voracious. His hands caressed her waist, untying the robe’s knot slowly, as if savoring every motion. The fabric slipped to the floor without resistance, gliding like an autumn leaf. Abigaíl trembled slightly—not from cold, but from anticipation.

She said nothing. She didn’t need to. Her gaze spoke, screamed, pleaded. And Kilian understood.

With a barely perceptible reverence, he leaned in and lifted her in his arms. He carried her to the bed with the delicacy of someone holding something sacred. He laid her between the sheets, which absorbed the warmth of her skin instantly. He removed his clothes slowly, letting each piece set the pace of a silent ritual.

The fire cast dancing shadows on the walls, as if spirits of the past were celebrating their union. Kilian lay down beside her, never breaking eye contact. His fingers began to explore her—not with urgency, but with reverence. They traced the curve of her collarbone, the arc of her waist, the line of her back. As if he wanted to memorize her, to know every mark, every scar, every space that made her real.

Abigaíl closed her eyes, letting herself be carried away by the tide of sensation. Her breath grew erratic as Kilian’s lips began to move across her skin, planting kisses like promises. There was no rush, only surrender. No doubt, only certainty.

—You are fire —he whispered against her neck—. And I want to burn with you.

She held him tightly, as if afraid that if she opened her eyes, he would vanish. But he was still there. More real than ever. More hers than ever.

The touches became deeper, more intense. Their bodies sought each other, recognized each other, fused in an ancestral language. Every caress, every sigh, was a confession. Kilian worshipped her with every motion, with every gesture. It wasn’t possession—it was devotion. As if he were honoring her, as if in that act he were sealing not just a love, but an unbreakable bond.

Abigaíl responded with equal intensity. She clung to him with her fingers, her lips, her skin. She clung like someone finding an anchor in the middle of a storm. And he was that. Her refuge. Her north.

Their bodies moved to the rhythm of an ancient dance, synchronized by the bond that united them. The wolf and the moon. The king and the queen. The woman and the man. There were no hierarchies in that bed. Only passion, desire... and love.

—Don’t leave me —she murmured, in a moment of absolute vulnerability—. Don’t let me lose myself.

Kilian held her in his arms, his face buried in her neck, and replied in a firm voice:

—I will always find you. In any life. In any form. It doesn’t matter if you are wolf or queen, human or goddess... I’ll be there. With you. Always.

Kilian’s words were the lighthouse she needed. And in that moment, between tangled sheets and ragged breaths, Abigaíl understood that she was no longer alone. That there was someone willing to hold her, even in her darkness.

And so, as the night wore on and the fire kept dancing in the hearth, Kilian made her his once again. Not like before. This time with the certainty of knowing exactly who she was. With her light and her shadows. With her wounds and her sins. And still... he chose to love her.

It was not just another night. It was the night when past and present reconciled. When two souls, separated by death and time, found each other once more. It was the night when love was not afraid to face the truth.

And when dawn crept through the windows, bathing the room in soft golden light, their bodies remained entwined. Not as prisoners of desire, but as guardians of a promise.

A promise that neither fate... nor death... would ever break again.
