Chapter 233: You Are Everything To Me
Kingston
The next morning, I woke up with a sense of clarity I hadn't felt in years. My mind was still tangled with the thought of Angelia but for once, they weren't weighing down my doubt or hesitation. The kiss we had shared had changed everything. It wasn't just about the physical connections, though that has been electric. It was trust in her eyes, the way she looked at me like she saw the man I was beneath the silence and strength.
I knew then that I couldn't hold back anymore, if I wanted her to trust me completely, I had to show her the parts of myself usually kept hidden. Later in the day, I texted her and asked if she could meet me at the park. It was a simple request and she replied almost immediately with ‘yes’.
When I arrived, she was already there, sitting on a bench with her hands tucked into the pockets of her jacket. The chill weather painted her cheeks pl and her hair framed her face in soft waves.
“Hey,” I said, my voice softer than usual.
“Hey,” she replied, her lips curving into a small smile.
I sat beside her, the distance between us minimal but significant. For a moment, neither of us said a word, the quiet hum of the city filling the space.
“Thank you for coming.” I said finally, my fingers brushing over hers where they rested on the bench.
“I am glad you asked,” she replied, her gaze meeting mine.
“You seemed different last night.” She said and I nodded, taking a steady breath.
“I have been thinking a lot about you, about us and I realize that if this is going to work, you deserve to know everything. Not just the part of me that is easy to show.” Her brow furrowed slightly but she didn't interrupt.
“You know I don't talk much.” I continue, my voice low.
“It is because I don't have things to say, it is because for a long time, I didn't think anyone cared to listen.” Her eyes softened and she reached out, her fingers wrapping around mine.
“I grew up in a house where strength was everything.” I began.
“Showing emotion, that was a weakness. So I learned to keep it all in and as I got older, it just became easier that way.” I paused, my throat tightening.
“But then, I met you, Angelia. And suddenly, silence didn't feel safe anymore. It felt like I was cheating you out of something important like I was holding back when you deserve more.” Her grip on my hand tightened, her gaze never leaving mine.
“You don't have to carry all of that alone, Kingston.” She said softly.
“Not anymore,” she added.
The sincerity in her voice unraveled something inside me and before I knew it, the words spilling out.
“I love you, Angelia.” I said, my voice raw.
“More than I have loved and cared about anyone in a long time and I don't know if it will ever be good at saying the right things but I will show you. Every day, I will show you how much you mean to me.”
Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, and she leaned closer, her hand reaching up to rest against my cheek.
“You have already shown me.” She whispered.
“In ways I didn't even realize I needed.”
I couldn't stop myself from kissing her then, this time, it was slower and more deliberate, a silent promise in every brush of our lips. She melted into me, her fingers tangling in the collar of my shirt as I pulled her closer. The world around us faded, the cold forgotten as we lost ourselves in the connection we had been building for so long. When we finally pulled apart, her cheeks were flushed and her breathing uneven.
“I don't know how you do that.” She said, her voice breathless.
“Do what?” I asked, brushing a strand of hair from her face.
“Make me feel like this,” she admitted, her lips quivering into a shy smile.
I couldn't help but smile back, my chest tightening with something I couldn't quite describe. We spent the rest of the afternoon, walking through the park and talking about everything and nothing. For the first time, I let myself be completely open with her, sharing stories I hadn't told anyone in years. And in turn, when shared pieces of herself, her fears, her dreams and the little quirks that made her who she is.
By the time the sun began to set, painting the sky in shades of gold and pink, I knew one thing for certain, I would do whatever it took to keep her in my life. As we stood by the park’s edge, watching the city come alive with lights, I turned to her and said the word I had been holding back for too long.
“You are everything I didn't know I needed, Angelia and I cherished you a lot.” She looked up at me, her eyes shining with emotion.
“So are you, Kingston.
I felt like I was just standing on solid ground, I was building something with holding onto. After the park, I couldn't get her off my mind. Not that I had ever been able to before but now, it was different. She wasn't just a possibility anymore, she is real, tangible and every moment we spent together made me want to hold on tighter.
