Chapter 51
"Take her to the hospital." I couldn't waste any more time, or I wouldn't be just Michael lying lifeless on the floor of this shed.
"Are you sure you can do that?" I'm not sure...
I pulled Sarah onto my body and bitterly regretted looking at her body, hatred consumed me like fire and my wounds burned like hell. She had bite marks all over her body, scratches and her face was full of wounds. She had suffered more than I could bear, I hadn't been able to protect her, and I hadn't been able to fulfill my fucking role with the woman I loved. However, this time I would have the chance to avenge her. To avenge my mother, my sister.
He wasn't the same son of a bitch as years ago, but he was the same kind of guy who would take what he wanted from them without caring about their pain.
"Take her back to your place," I concluded, changing my mind. "The hospital will ask questions and I want to deal with your little shit of a brother myself, the police will do nothing but put him away for a few years. I can't risk it, not this time."
He nodded and pulled her out of my arms, my body aching and the wounds leaking more blood as I struggled to get up. I pulled an unconscious Michael from the floor before I had any more time and placed him on the table where Sarah should have been before we arrived, it was his turn to feel what she felt. Only no one would come to save him.
"Don't just break your fingers this time, David, that little shit was never my brother and I refuse to know that he could be out there free, circling any woman he wants. I can't risk Sarah suffering that again." I nodded, propping my body up on the table. "And come to my house when you've finished, I have some doctor friends who won't ask any questions."
I lost myself for a moment in the unconscious body in his arms, I knew she would be safe if I didn't survive, at least that comforted me even though I refused to see her in someone else's arms. She was mine and would remain mine alone.
"Shit..." Michael muttered as I finished securing his legs, I was weak and annoyingly dizzy from blood loss. However, I wouldn't leave without knowing exactly that Mike would never be able to look at my little girl again.
"You know, right from the start, I warned Sarah that I didn't want anyone to touch her. But then her brother tried to look after her and she went of her own free will, I couldn't interfere with that. However, I'm the only one who can force her to do anything, Michael, do you know why?" I sighed, picking up the surgical pliers that were available on the same table that he should have prepared for Sarah. "Because that woman is mine and no matter how much she runs away or tries to get away from me, she will always be mine."
Maybe I should have given Michael time to fight back, but I was thirsty, I needed to satisfy this need to avenge the women in my life. And incredible as it may seem, Michael would play that role perfectly.
"No!" he tried to say and I smiled.
"Now take a deep breath, it might hurt," I whispered, reaching up to fit the tip of the pliers into the first tooth I saw. "That's for my little girl, kid."
David wasn't there when I woke up.
The hollow feeling ate away at my heart and was more painful than spending hours suffering at Michael's hands, I would rather he had never come after me if I knew I would never see him again.
The white ceiling was a reflection of my soul at that moment, empty and filled with an inexplicable loneliness. Maybe the passion I was sure I felt for that man wasn't the truth, I loved him even with all the shit that came with his presence, even with all the painful baggage that made him who he was.
It would have been in Michael's hands for him to be here.
I forced my body to try and get out of bed, but every muscle ached and my skin burned, making me stand still. I remembered every single thing he'd done to me while I was strapped to the table, I remembered every damn pain.
"Finally..." Ben murmured next to me, but I didn't have the strength to look in his direction. "You slept for two days, Sarah. How are you feeling?"
I didn't know what to say, I adored Benjamin and would thank him immensely when my emotional state was rebuilt. But that question made my eyes sting and soon my face was hot with hot tears.
"David...?" Ben sighed, climbing onto the bed where my body lay.
"He hasn't come back from the shed, Sarah."
I swallowed the sting that emerged in my throat, I wanted to cry, but I had to do it alone. I needed to take away the pain that pierced my heart with that answer, how could I go on without him?
David was right from the start, I couldn't do without him anymore, and every second that passed without seeing him or knowing that he was well enough drowned me.
"Did you go looking for him?" My body trembled with fear of the answer, not knowing if I wanted to know or not.
He touched my face, gently turning me to face him. Ben didn't look happy, his dark eyes were slightly deep and opaque. I understood, his brother was nothing like we thought, but he was still his brother.
"Neither David nor Michael were in the shed. They were both gone when I went to check last night, I'm sorry Sarah, I don't know what happened."
The skin on my cheeks burned and I wanted, needed to collapse, to cry until there was no more water in my body so that I could survive.
"Ben... could you leave me alone for a moment?" He said nothing as he got out of bed.
My chest was going to explode and I could do nothing but let it out, the tremors caused by the pain spread through my body and I turned to hug the pillow that supported my head.
I screamed, as if there was a shattered piece inside me, as if my soul had been left with him inside the shed.
David had made my life hell, surrounded me like a wolf, and addicted me to everything to do with him. His body, his smell, and his incisive, gray gaze transported me to a world where nothing mattered but being with him.
And now he wasn't here to give it to me.
I screamed again, feeling my throat burn and the pillow gets wet. It didn't matter anymore about the pain I felt or even the marks that had been left on my body by Michael. But there was one mark that David had left on me and that same mark tore through my chest like the knife that had been used on my skin several times.
"Sarah..." Ben slammed the door as I finished tearing myself apart inside the room.
"Get out!" I shouted without letting him in.
I didn't want a lap, I didn't want to ease all the pain I was feeling. My chest was burning and I wanted to pour out all the shit that was bubbling up inside me. I know it wasn't his fault, Ben was doing much more than he had to. But he couldn't heal that part of me that had broken.
...
I spent maybe a few hours dehydrating my body and remembering every single thing I'd experienced because of Michael. For some reason, the pain turned to hatred and I wished I'd had the chance to take my anger out on myself, the damn resentment I was feeling towards what I thought was my only friend.
My body ached so much that the adrenaline of hatred made me stand up, put on jeans and a loose T-shirt so as not to scratch my wounds, and go outside. I didn't see Ben anywhere and I honestly didn't care, there was something I wanted to do, and with everything I'd been through and he'd witnessed too, I doubt he'd let me leave until I was completely well.
Grabbing nothing but my wallet, I ran to the front of the college, neither hungry nor thirsty. All I wanted to do was stand there and wait and that's what I did, leaning against the walls of the houses on the other side of the campus. My chest was heaving as people came and went through the turnstiles.
I kept watching until movement caught my eye, the annoyingly flashy blonde hair was back on campus, she had returned to her course.
My blood boiled and I didn't think when I broke through the small crowd of young people to wrap my hand around the straight hair and pull it across the street.
I wouldn't leave without leaving that girl's face completely distorted.
"You crazy woman, let me go!" I rolled my eyes as I heard the same annoying voice that had stopped me the day David had finally opened his life to me when he had been real. "Help!"
She struggled before throwing her body against the wall of the house I was waiting for, my heart pounding with fury and I would pour it out on her even if I was arrested straight away.
"You fucking bitch." I spat, climbing on top of her skinny and broken body, she wouldn't have put up with half of what I had to go through because of her. "You made me lose everything I had, you spoiled fuck!" I shouted.
A crowd formed around us as she screamed for help and I cried with hatred, hitting her delicate face again and again. Jess struggled and a few hands tried to pull me off her body, but to no avail. I could see nothing but rage and my body wasn't something anyone could get off, I was going to slap the porcelain face to pieces.
