Chapter 175
Chapter 175
HENRY
Shane pulled the car to an abrupt halt in front of a small bungalow. There was no light coming from the inside.
I turned to him. “Here?”
“Mmm mm.” Shane hummed under his breath, nodding, leaning back. “They're a couple. Middle-aged. And childless.”
“So we break in?” I asked.
“Yes.” He replied, “You take the wife. I take the husband. Come on.”
He opened the door and tried to climb out, but I stopped him.
“Wait, wait, wait.”
He turned and furrowed his brows in a frown. “What is it?”
“How about we just knock?” I suggested.
“Are you dumb? They're asleep.” He rasped at me, “And who would open their door for a stranger at this time of the night?”
I smirked at him, then held out my hand, palm open. “Knife.”
He stared at me for a long moment, then reached into his pocket, slid out the knife and handed it to me.
“Watch me.”
I pushed open the door and climbed down from the car. Shane followed. We walked to the small bungalow. The night was quiet and dark. No streetlights worked on this road. Only the moon gave a little light.
We climbed up to the porch, and I started banging hard on the door.
“Help me! Please help me!” My voice shook with fear. I sounded desperate, like someone running for his life. “Please! They’re after me! Open the door! Please!”
I kept banging. Loud and urgent.
Then I heard hurried footsteps coming from inside.
A man’s voice called out, “Who are you? What’s going on?”
“Please! You gotta help me!” I cried. “Some men are chasing me. They have guns. They're trying to kill me. Please, help. I’m begging you!”
The woman’s voice joined. “John, who is it?”
“Sir, please,” I continued, voice cracking. “I have nowhere else to go. They already shot at me once. I’m bleeding. Just let me in for five minutes. Please!”
The man asked, “How did you find this house? Why didn’t you call the police?”
“I lost my phone when I ran,” I answered quickly, still sounding terrified. “Please, sir. I’m scared. They’re coming. I can hear them!”
The woman asked, “John, should we call the cops first?”
“No time!” I begged louder, voice cracking. “They’ll be here any second. Please open the door. I’m begging you. I don’t want to die! Please, I don't want to die!”
I glanced over my shoulder at Shane. A soft smirk played on the corner of his lips.
“Impressive.” He mouthed the word without making a sound.
Ten seconds of silence. Then the lock clicked. And the door opened.
A middle-aged couple stood there. The man was around fifty-five or so, short and a little overweight, with thinning brown hair and glasses. He wore a plain blue T-shirt and pajama pants. The woman was about the same age, thin, with shoulder-length dark hair that had some grey in it. She clutched a robe around her body, eyes wide with worry.
They both looked soft and normal. The kind of people who believed helping others was the right thing.
I smirked at them. “Hello.”
Before they could react, I drove the knife straight into the man’s neck.
The blade sank deep. Blood sprayed out instantly, hot and thick, covering my hand and arm. The man’s eyes bulged in shock and pain. He made a horrible gurgling sound and grabbed at the knife sticking out of his neck. Blood poured down his chest like a river.
The woman let out a shrill, weak scream. “John! Oh my God, John!”
“Ah, fuck it, Jones,” Shane growled behind me. “I told you to leave the husband for me.”
“Sorry,” I muttered.
The woman turned to run deeper into the house, but Shane was already moving. In three long strides, he caught her by the arm.
“Going somewhere?” He snickered.
He smacked her hard across the face. The slap was loud. She flew sideways and crashed to the floor. Her lip split open. Blood ran down her chin.
The man had slumped against the wall, still alive, hands wrapped tightly around the knife in his neck. He gurgled and choked, eyes full of terror and pain. Blood kept pumping out with every heartbeat.
I quickly shut the door behind us. Then I crouched beside the man. I grabbed his hair, yanked his head back, and whispered, “Sorry. Please forgive me.”
I pulled the knife out fast. Blood gushed from the hole like a broken pipe. He tried to scream, but only made wet choking sounds. Then I slit his throat in one clean cut.
The blade opened him wide. More blood poured out in heavy waves. His body jerked twice, then went completely still. His eyes stayed open, staring at nothing.
I stood up. The hidden camera on my necklace was recording everything. I stepped closer to Shane to get a better angle.
Shane was focused on the woman. She was on the floor, crawling backwards, crying. Her face was already swelling from the slap.
“Please… don’t hurt me…” she begged, voice shaking. “We helped you… why are you doing this?”
Shane smiled. His eyes shone with absolute glee. “Why? Because it's fun.”
He turned around and took the knife from me, then he knelt over her and stabbed her deep in the belly.
The woman screamed in pain. Her whole body arched up. Blood poured out around the blade. Shane left the knife inside her for a long time, twisting it slowly.
He watched her face the entire time, eyes bright with joy and satisfaction. She whimpered and cried, tears running down her cheeks.
Her hands grabbed at his wrist weakly. “It hurts… please… it hurts so much…”
Shane finally pulled the knife out. Blood gushed heavily from the wound, soaking her robe and the floor.
He waited, watching her suffer, his smile never leaving.
Then he stabbed her again, this time in the side, just below the ribs. The blade went in deep. The woman screamed louder, a raw, broken sound.
Her legs kicked wildly. She gasped for air, coughing. Blood bubbled from her mouth. Shane left the knife in again, eyes glowing with pure pleasure as he studied every twitch on her face.
“Beautiful,” He whispered, almost to himself.
He pulled the knife free. Blood flowed faster now. The woman was crying hard, body shaking, face twisted in terrible pain. She looked at him with pure horror.
Finally, after what felt like forever as Shane watched her suffer, he raised the knife and stabbed her straight in the heart.
Her body jerked violently. A short, choked cry escaped her lips. Her eyes widened one last time. Blood poured from the wound as her heart pumped its last beats. Her legs twitched a few more times. Then she went still. Her eyes stayed open, empty.
Shane stayed kneeling over her for a moment, breathing steadily. His face showed pure satisfaction. He looked up at me… and at the hidden camera on my necklace… with that same dark joy in his eyes.
He stood up slowly. Blood covered his hands and shirt. The small living room smelled of blood, piss, and fear. Two bodies lay dead on the floor.
I stared at the woman. Her face was frozen in pain. The wounds in her stomach, side, and chest were wide and ugly. Blood had spread across the floor like a dark lake.
Shane walked over to me. He wiped the knife on his pants and handed it back.
“You did well tonight,” He said quietly. “You brought them to the door. That was smart. And you were right, I needed this.”
I nodded, still breathing hard. My hands were covered in blood. The necklace camera had caught everything, especially Shane enjoying every second of the woman’s pain.
I looked at the two dead bodies on the floor again. The man’s throat was cut wide open. The woman’s stomach and chest were full of deep stab wounds. Their blood mixed together on the wooden floor
I hope they rest in peace.
