Chapter 13
Alex's POV
suddenly I wake up feeling hot breathing in my neck and the weight of a heavy arm pinning me down and everything from last night comes back to mind.
after I stared at Blaise and he stared back at me we ended up falling asleep on his bed.
I slowly lift up his arm and I sneak out of his grasp. I stretch and I look at him grab a pillow and hug it. I laugh softly "what a kid" I whisper to myself.
I look towards the door and I see that it's still open. 'damn I didn't even check if it was closed. what if someone saw us?' the thought makes me blush 'fuck! I'm so stupid'
'what does it matter? were supposed to be sleeping with him already anyway' Ruth says as I begin to walk out of the room.
'yeah but it's still weird. how just a couple of days ago he was a complete stranger and all of a sudden by just looking at his eyes I'm suddenly attracted.'
'Are you saying that if you guys weren't mates and if there was no connection you would never fall in love with him?'
I stop at this and I look at the floor for a while. 'no, I'm saying that I still don't know anything about him or his family and friends.'
'so if the mates bond suddenly disappeared would you leave him' asks Ruth boldly I sigh 'I don't know maybe'
'what do you mean by that?' Ruth asks angrily 'how could you say that about him?'
'well I don't know' I say grumpy walking towards the kitchen.
as I enter the kitchen I walk towards the fridge and I take out some mint leaves and some serrano chiles. I walk over to the cabinets and grab some garlic and pasta packages. I grab some olive oil and I begin to cook some Campanella one of my favorite dishes.
suddenly to my surprise, I see Dylan come inside and he freezes when he sees me. I look at him and without expression, I turn back to cutting the mint leaves into little pieces and mixing my ingredients to make my sauce as the pasta boils in the water.
he catches the message and looks away as he walks towards the fridge and takes out a water bottle and takes a sip. as I continue to cook he suddenly speaks to much of my surprise "you don't have to cook. that's why we have maids." he says as he takes another drink from his water.
I freeze with the knife still at hand and I breathe in and out in order to calm down. "you mean the omegas."
he freezes and swallows hard. "how much do you pay them?" I ask as I take out the pasta from the water and leave it there to dry as I heat up the sauce in a pan.
"umm... we don't. It's their job" he says in almost a whisper but I can hear him perfectly.
"tell every single one of them to start packing," I say as I grab the pasta and begin to mix it with the sauce.
"what? why?" he asks shocked.
"tell them ill be taking them to my pack. they don't need an alpha who treats them like dirt. at least in my pack, they will have a payment for helping around the packhouse and they will be respected."
"you can't do that. they are part of my pack you don't tell them what to do. I do." he says angrily.
I turn off the fire from the stove and I turn to look at him. "then start treating them like they are part of your pack." a moment of silence hangs as I stare at him in the eyes and he’s about to say something when I cut him off "have you ever said thank you to them yourself personally?"
"well, I-"
"you don't understand how important they are, do you?" I ask as I walk towards him "if suddenly they all disappeared for a whole week who in the world would cook for all of your pack members who live in your packhouse? who would do the cleaning? your future luna, Mikal?" I scoff "please don't joke with me. we all know shes useless in the kitchen."
"you judge to fast," he says through gritted teeth.
I walk over to the stove and begin to serve two plates of my pasta "I'm not judging anyone I'm just being honest."
at the moment when I'm done serving the plates, Blaise walks inside of the kitchen and I'm shocked.
I'm not shocked at the fact that he saw me with Dylan or that he's awake already but what shocks me is that I don't feel anything. I look at him and I don't feel it at all.
the mate bond... I don't feel it."
