102 - ALL I HOLD DEAR
EMILY.
“Maybe? Have you checked to see if we’re siblings?” I asked in a nonchalant tone. I wanted to be stronger than Kevin could have ever imagined.
I didn’t want to continue the conversation. I ran for the door, wanting to leave the room, but Kevin grabbed my arm and pulled me back. Eddy quickly came up beside him and put a hand on his shoulder. He glared at him, then turned back to me.
“Stay here until I finish everything I have to say. Don’t you ever dare let me speak alone again. Besides, you’re not going anywhere. Here you’ll rot. This will be your grave,” he screamed.
“I...” I was more afraid than ever, but not for myself but for what he was about to say.
“I always thought you were his daughter. I took a DNA test to confirm it and that’s when I relieved myself.”
“Then what do you want from me? I’m not the fruit of sin. I’m not your sister.”
“You are not the fruit of sin, but you are the fruit of my childhood torment. I swore I would make you mine and give you the life I lived because of your mother.”
“God, how foolish I was to offer you all that I hold dear and you...”
“What did you give me?”
“My love! I loved you with all my heart and you only wanted revenge. I understand many things now. Many questions are answered now,” I retorted.
Many things that I hadn’t understood over the years were resolved in those moments.
“How dramatic! Listen, darling!” he laughed ironically.
He sounded more like a demon, who enjoyed seeing my body in the greatest torment.
“Yes! Love and a boy I lost on our wedding night. Because of you!”
I hoped this news hurt him as much as it hurt me. I attacked with ferocity, scratching as fiercely as possible. I never knew if it was a boy or a girl, but he didn’t know. It was him I wanted to see destroyed as he had destroyed me.
That second he looked at me like he’d never looked at me before. He had the look of a rabid wild animal.
“The mind!” he screamed at the top of his lungs.
“No! It was my surprise for you. It was like a wedding present for both of us. I waited in the room for you for so long. And I had prepared so many surprises for you. I was dressed in a suit I knew you loved because I had so many plans. I wanted to tell you in such a romantic way. Just wanted to make you proud of me. And you...”
“Why the hell didn’t you tell me before?”
“You didn’t give me the chance. You were so busy. Girlfriend probably won't let you make time for me.”
“It definitely wasn’t his, so stop making up stupid shit,” Carla interjected, who was probably fed up with the show I’d put on for her by then.
I wrenched myself out of Kevin’s grip. I approached her and glared at her, then said through gritted teeth,
“Don’t you dare, you bastard! I’m not a whore like you, selling myself for a necklace.”
I raised my hand at her with a mad desire to hit her as hard as I could, but Kevin caught me and stopped me.
His anger then reached its peak. I could feel him angrier than a bull in a bullfight. He glared at me, then pushed me away. Then I lost my balance. I took a few steps backward, stopping directly in Eddy’s arms, which felt more like a puppy in heat. I didn’t know what scared me more, Kevin’s look that would eat me alive for attacking his girlfriend, or Eddy’s hands that were squeezing me tighter and tighter, moving millimeter by millimeter up toward my breasts. He had powerful hands. My body felt them like blows. I never thought I’d meet men as sexually obsessed as Eddy turned out to be. I hoped for a rescue from Kevin, but I was wrong again. His face showed the satisfaction he felt when I saw Eddy greedily groping me.
“Eddy, you want it? I’ll give it to you!” he said in a mocking tone. Honestly, I would have expected him to have lunged at it and ripped it to shreds, not gifted it to me as a worthless object. “But if he comes near Clara again, I swear I’ll kill her,” he continued through gritted teeth.
He grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her to him. He kissed her fiercely in front of us, all the while the flames of passion burning hotter and hotter in Eddy. His hands began increasingly dangerous walks on my body.
“Honey, we have a date. Eddy, I think you deserve a little time off to have some fun. I’ll let you take care of my wife. The rest of you come with us. Get the cars ready. Have fun, LOVE,” he said to me with a laugh, then walked out triumphantly.
He acted like he’d won the most dangerous fight he could ever fight.
I still couldn’t believe he could be such an asshole. I never would have believed it. He left me alone with Eddy. NO! NOOOOO! How was it possible that the man who was the most important person to me for so many years could throw me away as something broken, useless? Was it that inhuman?
After they left the room, Eddy turned to face him. Though I tried to fight it, we didn’t stand a chance.
He had a lustful, menacing look in his eyes. He was happier than if he’d won a big trophy.
He looked at me and wanted to kiss me. I pulled back and said,
“You know.... I can’t!” my voice was trembling like all the flesh on me. I hoped there was an ounce of humanity in his heart.
“Really?.... But I can!” he replied in a harsh tone.
His reply was so confident. He was so proud of himself and I was frozen with fear.
“I’m pregnant!” I said, more under my breath.
Although I swore I wouldn’t say anything, I felt like that was the only thing that could save me. It was the only way to escape his merciless clutches.
He looked at me defiantly. He laughed contemptuously, harshly and loudly, all the while pulling me closer and closer to him. I struggled as hard as I could, but in vain. His kisses felt more like fiery arrows piercing my heart and making me nauseous.
His scent was repulsive and made me feel suffocated. With an animalistic lust, he tore my cotton dress off, much to my despair. I instinctively covered my half-naked body with my hands.
As he struggled with me to get my hands out of the way, I kneed him between the thighs. Drained with pain, he let me go. I took advantage and ran. The wonder didn’t last long because at the door; I felt him grab me by the hair and pull me back.
“You can’t run, baby doll!” he said as he picked me up.
He threw me onto the bed and pounced on me. I was screaming for help as loud as I could. I was lost!
I felt like I was being torn apart by a wild animal. Tears were streaming. I kept fighting as hard as I could, but my strength failed. Just when I thought all was lost, I heard a gunshot, and Eddy fell on top of me. I started screaming even louder. I gathered my courage and opened my eyes. To my astonishment, I saw Mike. Was it a dream or had he really come to my rescue? Was he really alive or was I hallucinating?
