Chapter 121 Let us go kick their asses
I wake up the next morning and he is not in bed. But I can smell coffee and French toast coming from the kitchen, and it smells amazing. I get up right away and walk out there.
Liam stands at the counter pouring coffee into a mug. Two plates are already sitting there with French toast on them, fresh berries on the side, whipped cream on top.
"Oh my god." I put on a shocked face as I walk up to him. "You made this? Maybe I was wrong about you being a useless rich brat."
His whole face lights up when he sees me. He pulls me into his arms and kisses my forehead soft. "It is not too late to change your mind."
I laugh and go on my tiptoes to kiss him back. He holds the back of my head with one hand, his fingers sliding into my hair, and he kisses me deeper. His other hand moves down past my waist and he grabs my ass gentle.
That familiar heat starts building between my legs right away. The guy has a way of turning me on without even trying.
He pulls back just a little, his voice all rough and wanting. "What do you say we do something else before breakfast?"
Then a voice comes from behind us and we jump apart.
"Mr. Thorne. Do you need anything else?"
I whip my head around and see this middle-aged woman standing by the door. She looks really nice, and she is smiling at us. My face gets so hot. I thought we were alone here. I am only wearing his shirt and nothing underneath.
Liam puts his fist near his mouth and clears his throat. "No, we are good. Thank you, Brenda."
"Okay, just let me know if you need anything," the woman says, still smiling. "I put some towels out by the pool if you want to swim later. There is fresh lemonade and iced tea in the fridge. Oh, and if you want to take the boat out, I will call the crew and let them know."
"Okay thanks."
"You are welcome, sir. I hope you enjoy that French toast before it gets cold." She gives us a little nod and then she is gone behind the door.
I turn back to Liam and I catch this quick look in his eyes. Embarrassment. Just for a second.
"You said you made the French toast!" I point my finger at him. "You liar."
He grins. "I made the coffee at least."
He tries to pull me close again but I step back.
Wait. Who is Brenda?"
"Our housekeeper." He shrugs. Then he must see something on my face because he adds, "Do not worry. She does not even know who you are."
I swallow hard. But I still feel nervous. What if his dad comes down here someday and she mentions me to him?
"Hey. Listen." He lifts my chin and cups my face with his hands. "The last time they came here was like five or six years ago. And Brenda is professional. She would never tell my dad something like that without asking me first."
"Okay," I murmur.
He smiles and leans in to kiss me. His lips taste like butter and cream. I get all wrapped up in him again fast, kissing him back. Right when things start heating up again, my phone rings.
"Wait." I pull away from his hungry mouth, breathing hard, and reach for my phone. "Let me see who it is. It is Alex."
"Fuck him." Liam sounds annoyed and grabs my arm. "Turn it off."
"I have to take it. He might be worried." I get free from him and hit answer.
"Hello?"
"Thank god, Sophie. You finally answered." Alex's voice comes through all worried fast. "You said you were going to find Liam and then you just disappeared into that storm. No texts, nothing. We were about to call the police."
I do feel bad for leaving like that without telling anyone. But yesterday was crazy. I was so wrapped up in Liam I never even thought to text them back and say I was okay.
"I am so sorry." I move a few steps away from Liam staring at me and lower my voice. "It took me a while to find him yesterday. And after that we were both exhausted so we just stayed at his place. I am sorry I made you worry. Really."
He sighs. "Well, as long as you are okay. But I have to say this. What Liam did last night was so irresponsible. What if something happened to you? Did he even think about that?"
Right then Liam's voice comes from right behind me. Loud.
"Soph. Breakfast is getting cold."
He did that on purpose. I know he did. So Alex could hear him. I cover the speaker fast and shoot him a look. He just smirks cold and looks away.
Alex pauses on the phone. "He is with you?"
"Um, yeah." I try to push down this weird feeling creeping up on me and keep my voice light. "You guys are going to the beach today, right? What if we meet you there later?"
"Fine. See you then."
I hang up and glare at Liam. "What the hell was that?"
"That guy is up to something." Liam shrugs. "Do not tell me you have not noticed."
He is right. I know Alex has feelings for me. But that does not make what Liam did okay.
"But."
"I was jealous. All right?"
My lips part a little. I can not believe he just said that straight out. He moves closer while I am still shocked and pulls me back into his arms gentle.
"You are my girlfriend now. Am I not allowed to get jealous sometimes? Are you mad at me?"
I was mad. But how am I supposed to stay mad when he looks at me like that with those green eyes and calls me his girlfriend?
I am completely losing it over him.
The weather is so nice today it feels like that storm yesterday never even happened. When Liam and I get to the beach, everyone else is already there lying on chairs putting sunscreen on each other.
"Hey Soph! Liam!" Katherine waves her arms at us. "Come here! Did you bring the iced beer like we asked?"
"Yeah!" I laugh and hold up the ice bucket I am carrying.
She cheers and grabs it from me. I find an empty chair and lay down, soaking up the sun.
This is so nice. We had beaches back in Miami sure. But those are public and always packed. Parking was a nightmare too.
It feels good not having to share the beach with a bunch of strangers. I guess being rich has its perks.
Katherine is on her phone and then looks up. "Hey my uncle said he can send some people down to set up a barbecue on the beach. You guys want to play some beach volleyball before we eat? Burn off some calories?"
We used to play beach volleyball all the time back in Miami. So I am in right away. "Yeah for sure. Count me in."
Everyone else nods too.
"Okay so two teams. Same as yesterday?" James asks.
"No." Liam answers fast. "Soph is on my team."
I frown. Alex stands up from his chair and raises his eyebrows at Liam. "I think Soph can make her own decisions."
They stare at each other. Both of them have that look. Mean.
I sigh inside. Not this again.
"Come on you guys. It is not a big deal." I say. "Let us just do the same teams as yesterday. Easier that way."
Liam's chest goes up like he is holding back being pissed. But he does not say anything. He just gives me this cold look and turns around walking toward the court.
"Let us go." Alex pats me and Eddie on the shoulder and smiles. "Let us go kick their asses."
