Dirty trick

Dirty trick
I've never been so nervous in my life. Never. But here I was, still seated in my car even though I'd arrived at the Packhouse.

I was terrified of going inside alone. Checking my phone and seeing that Vince hadn't returned my calls or even a text sent my heart racing in fear.

It took literally every courage in me to convince me to alight the car. I held my purse so tightly, as I walked through the main gate.

The guards pushed the door open when I got to the front porch. I took a deep breath before walking into the house.

“Nervous?” A voice asked behind me. I turned. Trent was leaning against the wall.
Seeing him got rid of my fear a bit. Replaced it with anger.

“What's the meaning of this, Trent?” I fumed, showing him my phone with the letter on the screen.

He came closer and squinted his eyes dramatically at it. Then chuckled a bit.

“Oh, that looks like the letter I signed. A fucking invitation to a four-man interrogation. I presume that's why you're here?”

“How dare you? Embezzlement? That's your crime, not mine.” I snapped.

“Well, that's not how the people remember it. In their memories, it was you who embezzled. You even had to switch careers because of the scandal.”

“You're the one who embezzled the Pack funds. It was you, not me!” I snapped again, growing tearful. I hate how deeply this situation was paining me. I hate how defenseless I feel right now.

“Yeah, good luck proving that.” He chuckled. Then grew gloomy instantly. “What about the other crimes, Elena? Are they also false?”

I gulped hard. “I might have cheated on you but you started it. So you have no right to condemn me for mine.”

“So what if I fucked Tracy a few times? What if she got pregnant? I'm an Alpha, baby. I have every right to do whatever the fuck I want.”

The cold Trent. The asshole Trent. The insufferable Trent. Am I ever gonna get used to this version of him? It's gonna be hard because I lived my whole life knowing just his sweet side.

“But you, my dear…” he came closer, touching the tip of my hair. “You're my Luna. You're mine. So you don't have the right to entertain any other man. Especially if that man is my Father.” He ended grittily.

I slapped his hand off. “You got involved with my sister. You betrayed me first. You broke our marital vow first!”

“I'm never apologizing for that, Elena. Never. You ruined the chances of me doing that when you took your revenge by getting involved with my Father.”

My heart knotted in pain. I looked away, blinking down my tears. How the hell did I fall in love with such a heartless bastard?

“Let me give you a little heads-up.” His voice dropped to a chilly whisper. “Enjoy every bit of moment you spend with my Father. Because they're not gonna last. I'm never letting you have that dreamy happy ending you wish to have with him. I'd rather lose my life than let you both be together.”

The hairs on my body stood at his chilly threat.

“Brace yourself, honey. This is gonna be a long, painful battle.” He stepped even closer and I let out an involuntary gasp.

“Alpha Trent.” A thick voice said from behind.

Trent hissed, spinning around. It was one of Vince's men. I recognize him from the time we spent in the rogue pack.

“What?” Trent snapped. “Are you gonna tell your boss that I got close to her?”

The man didn't reply. But was glaring at Trent. I was befuddled by his guts. Trent was an Alpha but he didn't seem to care.

“Soon, I'm gonna get rid of y'all. You'll leave this house and go be with your boss.”

“Until then, please keep your distance from her.” The man replied. Now my jaw dropped. What is this?

Trent looked like he was fighting down a tsunami of rage but he still managed to walk away.

The man came closer to me and bowed.

“Did Vince…ask you to do this?” My words faltered.

“If you ever showed up here, I was asked to keep an eye on you. So he doesn't hurt you again.” The man replied with another bow.

Vince. He keeps surprising me in the most flattering and unbelievable way.

“The elders are already here,” the man said, making my heart skip a bit. “I'll escort you to the interrogation room.”

I nodded. Having him walking behind him gave me a bit of solace and courage. And when he stopped right outside the door, my fear returned.

My shaky fingers pulled the doorknob and the door opened. I walked inside slowly, growing jittery at the round table with the four head elders sitting around it. And then Trent. And then an empty seat that I presumed was for me.

“Luna Elena, we've been waiting.” One of them said as they noticed my entry.

I gulped, finding it hard to speak.

“Have a seat.”

I dragged my legs to the chair and slipped into it. They were all staring at me with cold gazes that I felt like melting away.

“I didn't embezzle any funds…” I said shakily, tears dropping from my eyes.

“We know that.” One of the elders replied.

My head shot up. “What?”

I glanced at Trent, and his eyes held amusement, anger, and mischief. My thoughts ran a million miles in a second. And just when realization was about to hit me, the door busted open.

Vince. He looked feral.

“This is unbelievable.” The elders gasped.

“Gentlemen, you need to give me my flowers,” Trent smirked. “I told you all it was gonna work. My almighty Father might be vicious and obstinate. But when it has to do with my Luna, he becomes the absolute fool. He loses his mind. Isn't that fucking ironic?”

I was yet to completely figure out what the hell was going on.

“This meeting wasn't for her, was it…?” Vince asked, with a pained look on his face.

“Nope, it wasn't,” Trent said, dropping a letter on the table. It had the Alpha seal. “This is your invitation, Father. You're being summoned to this four-man interrogation. Good thing you're here already so let's get started.”

Now it hit me. I frantically took out my phone and went through the letter. It did look real, except the stamp was different. How didn't I notice that? How didn't I notice Trent was playing dirty tricks on me?

He was using me to get Vince to come here. Because he wouldn't come on his own, even if he gets the official letter.

Once again, I've been used against Vince.

Our eyes met, and while mine let down tears of apology, his held a brokenness that ran deep. I don't read eyes but his were being pretty loud.

How much longer are they gonna keep using you to trap me?
