Do what I asked

Do what I asked
“We’d be delighted to start this new project with you, Vince. I'm sure it'll be a blast.” The men chattered amongst themselves. I was supposed to be part of that conversation but I'm not.

My gaze and mind were somewhere else. Across the room. On Elena.

I came here today, with the conviction that I'd see her. Something deep down told me she'd stubbornly show up here again. And she did. Now I'm incensed to my bones, especially seeing her next to Liam again.

Both of them already stared in my direction. Elena particularly seemed spellbound or shit. Until Liam whispered something to her, and they both headed to the corner where they were right now. Talking.

Talking, Vince. They're just talking. So why the fuck was my heart burning so hard?

What's this insane jealousy? I mean, I've always hated seeing her with other men. But damn, it hasn't been this bad. I'm on the bloody verge of exploding.

“What do you think about it, Vince?” My attention was called by the men. I looked at them blankly for seconds. And then nodded.

“It's…cool.” I gave a flat reply.

“Isn't that Luna Elena?” One of them said, making me almost choke on my drink.

“That's right. It's her. My God, she's still as elegant as ever.”

“I know, right? It's a pity what happened to her Father and her marriage.”

“Right. I can't believe she really had an affair. She doesn't seem like that kind of person.”

“Yes, but that's what the rumors are saying…”

“Gentlemen,” I cut them off briskly. “Can we go back to our initial conversation, hmm?” My face was knotted so hard.

They got the message and a shred of fear mirrored on their faces.

“Of course, Vince. Our apologies.”

Shove it up your asses.

I grabbed another drink in my bid to calm my nerves. I didn't wanna go over and create a scene. With these geezers already hearing the rumors, anything I do right here would only escalate shit.

So I tried hard to keep my cool. Daniel Mikaela, the man who's hosting these parties climbed up the podium to address us. I listened half-assedly, stealing glances at Elena.

The crazy part was that she wasn't even looking in my direction. Not a glance. Nothing. It was like she'd forgotten I was here. All her attention was on Liam who wouldn't stop whispering shit to her.

I just grabbed my last glass when another hand snatched it away.

“You're gonna get tipsy if you keep up with that.”

Leo. What's he doing here? Nah, that's a stupid question. He was invited. And he's been here for a while. Just not standing with me.

“I don't care. I just need some kinda distraction.” I snatched the glass back from his grip and chugged the whole thing.

“Distraction from what?” His gaze followed mine. Then he chuckled. “C'mon, man. You can't be serious.”

“About what?”

“This…” he gestured at my obvious restlessness.

“I can't help it. If he'd just keep a little distance away from her and not keep giving her that look, then maybe…”

Fuck that. Even if he tied his hands to the back and blindfolded himself, I still would be this way. The only thing that can heal me is if she gets away from him.

“You have no right to be jealous,” Leo said the exact same words that almost drove me nuts yesterday.

I hissed back a growl. My twitching hands balled into fists.

“Listen, man. Just a little heads-up. Don't ever say that again. Or I might bash your face in.”

His gaze held surprise and a little confusion. “Seriously?”

“Telling me I have no rights after I almost gave up my life for her is the cruelest thing you'll ever say to me. I've gone through hell and back for Elena. I have every damn right to feel jealous…”

“You wanted to keep your distance from her, remember?”

“Fuck, yeah. I remember. But that's just because I had no choice. Not because I gave up my feelings for her.” I gritted my teeth at her, giggling at whatever Liam just said. “I'm gonna kill that bastard…”

“Whoa, Vince. Take it easy. Do I need to remind you that we're in public?”

“I don't give a shit about that.” Another waitress passed. I was gonna grab a glass but a thought popped into my head.

“Wait.” She stopped, but then became flustered when she recognized me. “Alp…Alpha Vince…”

“Here,” I slipped a few dollar notes into her grip. “Take that drink to the lady over there.”

She looked. “Luna Elena?”

“Yes. Hand it over to her. But make sure it spills on her dress.”

“What?” Both the waitress and Leo blurted out simultaneously.

“Did I speak fucking Swahili? I said, MAKE SURE IT SPILLS ON HER DRESS. Get the fuck on.”

“Ye…yes…Alpha Vince.” She bowed and scurried off.

“You're insane, man…”

“Shut up and go engage that bastard. I don't want him coming after Elena when she heads to the restroom to fix her ruined dress.”

“Vince…” his words were cut off as the gasps filled the room. The waitress had done a good job of spilling the drink on her dress.

Elena was still in shock. Then she whispered something to Liam and she ran off for the restroom.

“Vince…” Leo's cautious voice was infuriating.

“Do what I asked.” I wasted no time to corner the hall to slip out unnoticed. Leo had gone over to Liam's table before I finally slipped out.
