Chapter 58 Chapter fifty-eight
~Juliana~
I sat quietly in the corner of the courtroom during the meeting, as I wasn't fully part of the pack and wasn't expected to voice my opinions.
I noticed Sylvia entering the courtroom with a tray in his hands. I smiled and waved at him, but he didn't see me. He walked over to where Ellie was sitting. I watched him give her the tray, and they exchanged a few words before he walked away.
I could see a disappointed expression on Ellie's face; it looked like she was about to cry. I wondered what Sylvia had said to her. I knew she was hurting from the way Sylvia had been treating her lately.
I felt a surge of jealousy. Why was Sylvia still paying her attention? I believed he wanted her to feel jealous, yet he continued to shower her with affection.
Sylvia and I had a false relationship, but I loved him and wanted him for myself.
He also knew about my feelings, but he warned me not to fall in love with him because he was in love with a woman who didn’t reciprocate his feelings.
He chose someone who is married and will never be his over me. However, I refuse to give up; I will make him see that I am the one meant for him.
My attention shifted back to Ellie as I saw her slipping a parchment into her gown. It was the letter, the one that had caused a disruption in the courtroom earlier.
She was stealing it, and I sprang up from my seat, covering my mouth with my palm, I wanted to scream but I withhold myself. She scanned the room to check if anyone was watching, but she didn’t realize I was witnessing everything.
I was certain that Ellie was hiding something. There was more to that letter than she had revealed to the pack’s members.
Now it made sense why she had acted the way she did earlier—crying and accusing Roger of disrespecting and belittling her.
Roger had merely suggested a translator, but Ellie took it as a personal attack. She seemed to panic when he questioned the clarity of the letter. There was undoubtedly more to that letter, and Ellie was not being truthful.
It appeared that Roger knew something about it, as I could feel the tension between them. The way they glared at each other in the courtroom made it seem like they wanted to harm one another.
Roger might be aware of Ellie's secrets, secrets that she has been desperately trying to conceal from everyone.
I shifted my gaze back to Ellie. She was smiling sweetly at Claus, pretending that nothing had happened. The more I observed her, the greater my hatred grew.
Ellie has always presented herself as a virtuous individual. Whatever secrets lie within that letter, I must uncover them. This is my only opportunity to remove her from the picture.
I'm growing weary of sitting in the courtroom. Sylvia doesn’t even acknowledge my existence. I've noticed the way he frequently glances at Ellie, yet he remains oblivious to my presence.
Just watching him irritates me, so I left the courtroom and went to the garden to catch some fresh air.
I encountered a few maids, who barely bowed and walked past me. I felt envious; they didn’t show me the same level of respect they have for Ellie. I pondered what qualities Ellie possessed that I lacked. I am beautiful, intelligent, and I embody the charisma of a Luna.
I desire everything Ellie has—Sylvia, the affection, attention, and esteem. I’m determined to take it all, even if it means resorting to extreme measures.
I was so absorbed in my thoughts that I collided with someone. When I lifted my gaze, it was Roger.
"Move aside, you seductress," he shouted, not even looking at me. He was muttering some words under his breath as he walk away.
I had many unflattering words in mind, but I refused to let his remarks affect me.
“I can’t help but wonder why the Luna reacted so dramatically. Almost as if… she’s concealing something,” I remarked, a sly smile creeping onto my lips.
Roger halted abruptly.
He turned to face me and approached, his gaze fixed on me. I maintained eye contact without wavering.
"What do you mean by that?" he inquired.
"I believe the Luna is hiding something," I replied with a smile.
Roger’s eyes brightened, "And what do you think that might be?" His grin became sharper.
"There’s a cost for that information. Are you certain you can afford it?" I smirked, twirling a few strands of hair between my fingers.
He shook his head and smiled, "What’s your price?"
I returned the smirk and nodded, "Let’s save that discussion for the future." I folded my arms beneath my breasts, adopting a serious expression, "I think Sylvia has feelings for the Luna."
Roger erupted in mad laughter and circled around me, "Do you think or do you know? Regardless, you’re right. And about the child she’s carrying, I question who the actual father is." His grin widened.
I froze at his words. What did he mean by not knowing who the true father was? Claus is Ellie’s mate, and he should be the rightful father.
Or could it be! My lips quivered at the thought that crossed my mind. That is inconceivable; it can’t be true. I clenched my fists tightly, my insides simmering with rage and jealousy.
"Ellie! Ellie! That witch is utterly shameless. I can't believe she would stoop so low. Now I have even more reasons to take her down. I'm going to reveal all her dirty little secrets to the pack's members so they can understand the kind of person they've respected and admired for all these years.
"Sylvia and I are in a contract relationship." I confessed to Roger.
Sylvia made me promise never to disclose that our relationship was fake, but here I am breaking that promise. I don’t care about the consequences of this confession; I will do whatever it takes to knock Ellie off her pedestal.
"Incredible!" Roger exclaimed, applauding. "I must say, you and Sylvia certainly put on an amazing act. You managed to convince everyone."
I felt myself blush at his praise.
"Claus has been using me as his cover. I'm fed up with him using me to evoke jealousy in Ellie. I want him to truly see me," I expressed all my bottled-up frustration.
Roger simply stood there, watching me with a sly grin spread across his face.
