Chapter 58
Sebastian’s boots hit the wooden floor of the packhouse, each step heavier than the last. His mind was a storm, the images of Rhianna—defiant, trembling, staring him down—still burned behind his eyelids. He clenched his fists, trying to calm the heat rising in his chest. He had handled the council, handled the rules, and now he had Brittany. Everything he needed to secure his alpha title. Everything, except the thorn in his side: Rhianna.
He thought about her words. “Fuck your title.”
That voice had rattled him. He couldn’t ignore it. Not when she was still alive, still breathing, still… dangerous in ways he couldn’t control.
He found Brittany waiting for him in the sitting room, her posture calm, confident, as if she already owned the space. She didn’t flinch when he entered; instead, she leaned against the table, a smirk curling her lips.
“You look… tense,” she said softly, voice like silk.
“I am tense,” Sebastian replied, his voice clipped. “You’ve heard about her, haven’t you?”
Brittany tilted her head, eyes sharp. “Rhianna? I’ve heard enough to know she’s a problem.”
Sebastian’s jaw tightened. “A problem? She’s not just a problem. She’s a threat. She’s… everything I didn’t expect, everything the council didn’t count on.”
Brittany stepped closer, her gaze unwavering. “She’s alive, yes. But that doesn’t matter. You have me. A strong wolf, a Luna for your pack, and your child growing inside me. That’s enough. Right?”
Sebastian’s chest rose sharply. “Enough?” he echoed. “It’s not just enough—it is enough. The council wants a stable Luna. I want a stable pack. You’re healthy, strong, carrying my child… I have everything I need. You’re all I need to secure my title.”
Brittany’s smile didn’t falter. “Then why are you still thinking about her?”
He slammed a hand on the table. The sound echoed in the room like a gunshot. “Because she exists! Because she walks around thinking she can stand up to me, thinking she can take something from me!” His breathing was harsh, quick. “She can’t. She won’t. I will make sure of it.”
Brittany’s eyes glinted. “And how do you plan to do that?”
Sebastian’s lips twisted into a cold smile. “She needs to be removed. Out of the pack, out of the way, out of… everything. I can’t allow her to exist here, challenging me, reminding me of… of what I’ve already claimed.”
“You mean me,” Brittany said softly, stepping even closer. “You’re thinking about her because she still matters. You’re angry because she made you feel… powerless for a moment. You think with her gone, everything will be easier.”
He exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. “Exactly. If she stays, she’ll destabilize everything. My title, my control, my pack… you.”
Brittany’s smirk widened, but there was steel behind it. “Then do it. Remove her. Make her disappear. If she’s weak, she’ll crumble—but if she fights, she’ll fight herself into ruin. Either way, she won’t stand against you. Not when you have me, your child, and the pack behind you.”
Sebastian’s mind raced. She was right. With Brittany, he had the perfect combination: strength, loyalty, legitimacy. The council would back him. Hardin wouldn’t interfere—he was too focused on her already. And Rhianna… Rhianna’s fragile state made her predictable, manipulable if needed.
He leaned back against the wall, closing his eyes for a brief second. “It’s decided then,” he said finally, voice low and deadly. “She stays out of my way. She doesn’t interfere with me, my title, or the pack. If she does… she’ll regret it.”
Brittany’s hand brushed his arm lightly, reassuringly. “Good. That’s what I like to hear.”
He opened his eyes, a dangerous gleam flashing in their gold depths. “I don’t care if she cries, whines, or hides. I won’t let anyone—anyone—threaten what’s mine. That includes her.”
“And that’s exactly why you have me,” Brittany murmured, leaning closer, her lips almost brushing his ear. “Because I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure your pack, your child, your title… stays untouchable. She’s just… a complication we’ll remove.”
Sebastian nodded slowly, determination setting in. His mind replayed Rhianna’s face, the anger in her eyes, the defiance in her voice. But he didn’t falter. Not now. She couldn’t be allowed to interfere. Not when everything he had fought for was at stake.
“Good,” he said finally, pulling back, his jaw hard. “Then we move forward. Nothing will stop us. And Rhianna… she’ll learn her place. Or she’ll pay the price.”
Brittany smiled, satisfied, her eyes glittering with ambition. “She will. Don’t worry, Alpha. We’ve got this.”
Sebastian stared out the window for a long moment, watching the pack stir below. His heart was calm—cold, even—but a single thought gnawed at him: Rhianna is still alive. And she’s still dangerous. One wrong move, and everything could fall apart.
But he pushed it aside. He had his Luna. He had his child. He had the council. And soon, Rhianna would either step down… or be removed.
And Sebastian Wolfe never lost.
