CHAPTER 152- EMILY

The next few days passed in a haze of cautious optimism. My meeting with Chris had shifted something in me-a hesitant belief that maybe I didn't have to figure everything out alone. The journal stayed by my side, its blank pages gradually filling with my thoughts, fears, and desires.

One recurring theme stood out: I wanted clarity. Not just from them, but from myself. I needed to understand what I truly wanted, free from the fear of judgment or the overwhelming pull of my emotions.

When I finally messaged Matt and Gideon, asking to meet all three of them together, my hands shook. Their responses were immediate and positive, agreeing to a quiet dinner at Chris's penthouse.

The evening came faster than I expected. Standing in front of Chris's building, I felt my nerves threatening to undo me. The opulence of the entrance, with its gleaming glass doors and uniformed doorman, only added to the surreal nature of my situation.

I took a deep breath and stepped inside.

Chris opened the door with a warm smile that instantly eased some of my tension. He looked relaxed in a casual sweater and jeans, but his sharp green eyes still carried that commanding presence.

"Come in," he said, stepping aside.

The apartment was just as stunning as I remembered-floor-to-ceiling windows offering a breathtaking view of the city, sleek modern furniture, and an understated elegance that screamed money without being ostentatious.

Matt was already there, lounging on the couch with his usual easy charm. He stood as soon as he saw me, his bright blue eyes lighting up. "Emily," he said, crossing the room in a few long strides. "You look amazing."

I felt a blush creep up my neck as he pulled me into a quick, warm hug. His scent-something clean and citrusy-lingered even after he let go.

"Thanks," I murmured, my voice a little shaky.

Gideon appeared a moment later, his towering frame filling the doorway to the kitchen. He was holding a glass of whiskey, his dark eyes watching me with quiet intensity.

"Emily," he said, his voice a low rumble. He didn't offer a hug, but there was something in the way he nodded at me that felt just as intimate.

Dinner was a surprisingly casual affair, with Chris cooking while Matt and Gideon kept the conversation light. They didn't overwhelm me with questions or pressure me to talk about anything I wasn't ready for, which I appreciated more than I could say.

Afterward, we moved to the living room, the atmosphere shifting slightly. The air felt heavier, charged with unspoken tension.

"So," Chris began, leaning forward in his chair. "You asked to meet all of us. We're here. What's on your mind?"

I hesitated, my gaze flickering between the three of them. They were all so different, yet they worked together in a way that was almost seamless. It was intimidating, but it was also… comforting.

"I've been thinking a lot about what I want," I said finally, my voice steady despite the fluttering in my chest. "And the truth is, I don't have all the answers. But I do know that I don't want to keep running from this."

Matt's grin was immediate, lighting up his entire face. "I'll take that as a win," he said, his tone teasing but sincere.

Chris shot him a look but didn't hide his own small smile. "We're glad to hear that, Emily. Truly."

Gideon said nothing, but the faint softening of his expression spoke volumes.

"I need to set some boundaries," I continued. "This… whatever this is… it's new for me, and I need to feel like I have some control over it. Can you agree to that?"

"Of course," Chris said without hesitation. "This is about all of us, Emily, not just what we want."

Matt nodded, his usual playfulness tempered by sincerity. "We're here for you, however you need us to be."

Gideon leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "We'll take this at your pace," he said, his voice steady. "But we're not going anywhere, Emily. Not unless you ask us to."

The weight of his words settled over me, grounding me in a way I hadn't expected.

As the night wore on, I found myself relaxing more than I thought possible. Matt's lighthearted jokes, Chris's thoughtful questions, and Gideon's quiet steadiness created a balance that felt… right.

At some point, Matt reached for my hand, his thumb brushing over my knuckles in a gentle, almost absentminded gesture. It was such a small thing, but it sent a shiver down my spine.

"You're safe with us," he said softly, his blue eyes locking onto mine.

"I know," I whispered, the words surprising even me.

Chris leaned over then, his hand coming to rest on my other arm. His touch was warm, grounding. "You're not alone in this, Emily," he said, echoing the words he'd spoken in the park.

Gideon didn't speak, but when his gaze met mine, I saw the unspoken promise there-steadfast and unwavering.

For the first time in a long time, I felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be.

As the evening drew to a close, Chris walked me to the door. The others had already said their goodnights, but he lingered, his expression thoughtful.

"Emily," he said, his voice low. "Thank you for giving us this chance."

I hesitated for only a moment before stepping closer and wrapping my arms around him. He stiffened in surprise but quickly relaxed, his arms circling me in a hug that was both firm and tender.

"Thank you for being patient with me," I murmured against his chest.

When I finally pulled back, Chris cupped my cheek in his hand, his thumb brushing lightly over my skin. "We'll figure this out," he said softly.

I nodded, a small smile tugging at my lips. "Yeah. I think we will."
