Chapter 27 Failed To Love?

Chapter 27 Failed To Love?
My eyes could dry up from all the tears and memories that I wished had vanished. The wound that Cillian inflicted was not something that could heal overnight.

Not with the old village tour as a distraction.

“Joiners, thank you for coming to the last activity. We would pick some oranges in the castle garden. So pick your partner.”

Everyone giggled, and I was left with no one. I felt a pinch in my chest. The honeymoon was supposed to be spent with my husband, but he shut down, determined to make me feel small.

“Excuse me?”A masculine voice caught my attention. I twirled. The stranger was tall, his blonde hair flowing with the fresh air.

He smiled at me, friendly but not flirty.

“I happened to have no one, too. Would you like to pick
Oranges together?” He asked, touching his forehead with shyness.

I looked around, and we were the only ones behind.

“Sure.” I nodded, allowing my lips to pull into a kind grin.

He gestured with his hand to the pavement, guiding me to the way.

“Are you in London alone?” The stranger commenced a small talk.

I shook my head, “No, I’m with my husband.”

He bobbed his head up and down, “Honeymoon?”

I sighed. Did I have a placard on my head saying the exact word?

“Aha,” I replied, picking up a basket on the grass.

“That’s nice, where is he?”

There was no escaping Cillian. “He had some business to attend to,” I answered, pushing the topic off my back.

The oranges smelled amazing, fresh and citrusy.

“I once believed in love and in marriage.” He started to sound vulnerable.

“Hmm, once? You don’t believe anymore?” He shared, I was a decent human being. So I offered a listening ear.

“No.” He laughed, but it didn't sound very pleasant.

“Someone hurt you,” I whispered.

“Very bad. “ He added, and I ached with him.

That sense of pain wouldn't leave you; you have to learn to live with it.

“It’s okay. Maybe when you're ready, you can try again.”

Exact words that I kept telling myself, what a fool I was.

“Maybe we mistook it for love, and love doesn't really exist.” He explained, placing the orange in the basket.

“Nah, don’t take it that far.”

He laughed again, a little less hurt this time.

“But I do.” He rebutted with confidence.

I took a deep breath, “Love is real, it’s the people who fail to protect it until the end.”

I told him, and he stared at me, puzzled.

My sunglasses saved me from embarrassment. I was tearing up in front of a stranger.

But I had to be stronger somehow; breaking free wasn't an easy task, and I knew one day I could taste the sweetness of freedom.

The tour ended, and I looked for him to say goodbye, but he was gone.

“Good afternoon, ma’am. How’s the tour?”

The doorman of the hotel extended his hand to open the glass entrance for me.

“It was great,” I responded.

I strode inside, pushing the elevator to the top floor, and I entered the suite, placing the shopping bags on the floor.

“Where were you?” Cillian growled, staring, and I was startled.

His chest out in display, a white towel covering his hips

Maria and Arma’s taunting words clouded my head with dirty and unpleasant desires.

Truly. My husband was a sex God.

I gaped at him, mouth wide open, “Sloane, I asked you a fucking question, and I expect you to answer.”

Okay, grumpy man, “Strolling, I got bored, the party is later tonight.”

He nodded, his facial expression softened.

“Where did you go?” He added, drying his hair with a towel.

I lifted a bag of oranges. “The hotel arranged a tour to an old village nearby. I had nothing to do anyway, and we picked some oranges. “

I sat on the bed, my eyes set on the floor.

“We?” Cillian’s tone was curious. He yanked a shirt from his suitcase, then grabbed the laces of my shoes to untie them.

“A group of joiners,” I answered him, trying to divert my attention away from his toned abdomen.

Cillian crunched in front of me, grabbing the laces of my shoes from me.

He was so close, my heart raced a million times per minute.

The burning heart built up from the soles of my feet down to my spine; his touch was subtle and suave.

“You went without me?” Was that jealousy I heard? He licked his red, wet lips, and his blue eyes were wildly gawking at me.

Holy shit. I was trapped in his smoke.

I swallowed the lump in my throat, regaining proper decorum. “All because of time lapses, and you went for a run, remember?”

He left me alone first. What comes around, comes back around. He would receive the same treatment he gave away.

“I see, did you enjoy it?” He placed my other foot in his hand.

I immediately regretted wearing sneakers. Cillian must get away from me. This proximity was not doing me any favors.

His hands on my bare skin, all my flesh desires and fantasies crawling to my veins.

“Very much so.” My tone came across husky and aroused.

“Hmm.” He was taking his damn time removing my shoes.

“Cillian, why don’t you put a shirt on?” I raised my eyebrows, giving him a hint to give me some space.

He bent over to me, placing his mighty hands on the edge of the mattress, caging me with his muscled arm.

“What are you doing?” I told him, meeting his eyes.

“Spending my honeymoon with my deviant wife.” He said, pushing my body into the bed.

Deviant Wife?

“Is it because I left for the tour–”

“You mistook my silence as weakness, flower, and you forgot some rules.”

I laughed and blinked at him, “Stop talking in riddles.”

He placed my hand on my side with force, “You deserve to be punished.”

My nerves returned, and my eyes searched for his,

“I need to get my tongue between your legs.” He smiled darkly.

“Cillian? Can you behave?” My voice cracked.

“I’m not here to romance you, Sloane. I’m here to take what’s mine in the pleasure of your body. “

He leaned forward, cupping my face in his hands.

“And I’m going to fuck you so hard that man in the garden won’t even compare.”

The hairs on my back stood up in alertness.

He knew where I was?

A trickery smile was traced on his dazzling face as he watched me.

“You had me followed? My tone trailed off in fear.

“I followed you.” He confessed, “Don’t worry, wife, I won't do something you won’t like."

My breathing ragged and heavy, as his hand was busy unbuttoning my pants.

“I want you naked right now.” In one swift move, he removed my top over my head.

“Cillian, I don’t-”

He pressed his lips into mine, and his hand roamed over my chest. My eyes were forced to shut, and my head fell back.

His eyes flickered with arousal.

I was enamored, completely in trouble, and bewildered by him.
