Chapter One Hundred Twelve

It was finally happening. Desmond’s tongue was so deep in my mouth that I could feel us becoming one. I didn’t want it to end. My mind couldn’t help but compare the kiss to the one I had shared with Charles. Kissing Charles was slobbery and warm. Whereas kissing Desmond was discovering infinite pleasures within your mouth while losing all control and touch with your surroundings.

My feelings for my demon were just as massive as the difference between the two make-out sessions, which amplified the bliss even more.

I liked how one of Desmond’s hands was still on my boob. He had already helped me explore the pleasures of my body in countless ways. Yet, I still wanted more. Not even an eternity locked and lost in his body could quench my thirst for him. I was addicted to him.

Desmond’s hands traveled around my body, searching for more to grab and feel. With the same intention, I unzipped his jacket and slipped my hands underneath his shirt, feeling his soft skin and ripped body.

“Cass, stop.” Desmond broke the kiss and removed my hand from his torso. “Before this goes any further, we should stop.”

“But why?” I demanded. My mind and vibrating tongue still hadn’t come out of that passionate moment. “I thought you weren’t teasing me intentionally.”

Desmond smirked charmingly. “Teasing and testing how much you want me is one of my favorite games. This time, I have a better reason. I want us to wait until after you meet my family. It will make it more special and avoid an unwise exchange of scared energy. You might change your mind about us.”

“I will never change my mind about us. Desmond and Cassidy are together forever,” I hugged him. “We can wait, but I will only accept your first reason. I wish to make our first time after getting back together as special as possible. Where is this place called where we are going?” I asked, squishing my face into his chest.

“Have you ever heard of the Northearth woodlands?” said Desmond.

“What?” I looked at him, dazed. He just casually took the name of one of the most haunted forests on Earth. “Isn’t that also known as Satan’s den and deadly screamland?”

Desmond shrugged and nodded. “For the humans, I guess. For us, it’s home.” My mouth naturally fell open, and I instantly shut it back. The idea of meeting new demons was getting scarier by the minute, but I didn’t want to express it through my words. I would have successfully hidden my fear if he couldn’t read my thoughts. “No one has ever died there, and I am going to be with you the entire time, so can we relax a little?” Desmond put his arms around me lovingly.

“Yes, of course. Please ignore my crazy mind from now on. It’s completely out of my control,” I requested with blank and widened eyes.

Desmond gave me time to inform my family and change into suitable attire before leaving. Usually, I would pick a dress for visiting my boyfriend’s family for the first time, but since we were going to an actual forest, I chose to cover my body. I selected black pants, a plain white shirt, and a waist-tie denim jacket.

Since we flew, we reached the forest in a matter of seconds. My heart palpitated the entire time. It would have exploded if Desmond hadn’t held me in his arms. I had come there putting complete faith in him. Hopefully, everyone there would be as friendly as him.

“Cass, you can open your eyes now,” said Desmond, brushing my hair.

“What?” I peeked through partially opened eyes to confirm we hadn’t arrived in hell. I could only see greenery and Desmond’s amused face through my blurry vision.

“I have brought you exactly where we agreed to go. Trust me, this is not hell, sweetheart,” he said, putting me back on my feet.

The YouTube video I watched on that forest showed the creepiest trees shaped like ghosts and a frightening amount of fog. Chills went through my body when I opened my eyes.

“Oh my God!” I said. The scene before me wasn’t remotely similar to what I had seen on the internet.

The trees were lush green and breathtakingly beautiful. The eerie fog from the video was also absent. Only beauty surrounded me. Was I wrong about everything now?

“YouTube is not a reliable source for information. Don’t feel bad, Cass,” said Desmond, touching my arm.

“Sorry for having all these negative thoughts about your species,” I apologized.

“A thought is a thought. Nothing more than that.” Desmond kissed on my cheek and clapped his hands. “Reveal yourselves. We have an honored guest here,” he said to the air.

A dozen people appeared out of thin air close to us. It startled me, and I screamed. All eyes were on me. They weren’t savages, as I expected. They were all attractive people dressed fashionably in Victorian attire.

“Way to make a good first expression by screaming like a chicken,” I thought.

Desmond held my hand protectively. “They all are my friends. There is no need to be afraid.”

I smiled through the fear and nodded. Desmond began walking, and I walked alongside him. His friends tipped their hats, bowed, and greeted us with words as we passed through them. Their manners were impressive. How come Benedict Astor’s demons didn’t act like them? What kind of beasts he had to do his dirty work?

“Where are we going? Are your parents here?” I asked.

“My mother is always here at this time of the year. We are heading to see her,” Desmond replied.

“Your mother?” I gulped in fear. “What is she like? Will she approve of me? Am I underdressed?”

“Intelligent and clairvoyant. Yes, and no.” Desmond grasped my hand tighter and pecked on my lips. “She is a demon, not a human. So, don’t worry about her not liking you.”

I pressed my lips together and moved forward again, trusting Desmond that everything would go well.

After walking for a while, we reached a gigantic ancient tree. Under its shadow, a middle-aged woman was meditating with her eyes closed.

“That’s my mother,” Desmond whispered to me.

I exhaled in relief. His mother looked peaceful and surprisingly stunningly attractive. That outer beauty, however, was false. She must also be a frightening creature with horns, wings, and tails. I would have passed out if I had met her looking like that.

“I heard what you said,” Desmond’s mother spoke.

Oh no! Was she talking about my thoughts? I did call her a terrifying winged creature in my head.

Damn demons and their mind-reading abilities!
