Is aunt Meera dead?
Is aunt Meera dead?
Charlotte ~
One month and three weeks.
That's how long he has been away from home. Though he calls once a day to talk to Angela and to me about if everything is fine here.
I know he is there for a business trip but I feel something is off. He is happier, he has been grinning while talking, one which he stopped doing five years ago.
His smile is reaching his eyes now. And instead of making me happy it is making me anxious. I feel like he has not been telling me something.
I guess it's time to see what the matter is? It's time to bring him back home.
"Angie...come here help me pack your bag".
Even though Abram doesn't like her doing any kind of work I am not letting her become a snob just because her parents are rich.
"Mom when dada is coming?" Angela asked and I gave her a smile . "Why don't we go there and surprise dada and bring him home back?"
She squealed in excitement bringing out all her fancy clothes.
I just hope you are not doing what you aren't supposed to Abram. You gotta come back to your family.
"What are you doing here, Charlotte?" I quirked my brow at Luis . "I can ask the same...and don't question me ever again".
He raked his fingers through his hair, I can feel his relentless. Why is he behaving like this? Luis has come to pick up us at the airport. I didn't tell Abram. I really wanted to give him surprise now.
Luis drove off to the destination and I could see the tension in his stiff shoulders. What got him so tensed? It's not that I am some criminal. I just came here to meet my husband.
The air here feels different but a good different. I guess it was a good decision to come here. It has been so long since I went for a trip. Five years passed by, in taking care of the home I build with care and love. And my angela is the light of it, its essence.
Abram and I may not be like normal couple but we still are the lock to keep our family together. And I love him, even though he doesn't.
The car halted in front of a small house . I frowned, why Abram is staying at someone's house? That too is nothing lavish. Just a pretty suburban house.
"It's his business partners home. He has decided to operate the business from Amsterdam" Luis said and I nodded. Hiding the pang of pain that he didn't even bother to tell me this.
I got out of the car and grabbed the hand of my daughter. I started to walk, slow but steadily. I don't know why I suddenly feel like something is weighing upon my chest.
My gaze fell upon a girl with brunette hair sitting on the grass in the lawn talking to someone. She didn't seem to notice us.
"Mom who is she? Can I go play with her? She has nice hair..." I sushed my daughter with her countless questions "first we are meeting dada... don't you want to meet him anymore?"
She pouted and didn't speak any further. The main door of the home was open. Careless people.
We stepped inside and the first thing I noticed was the coziness and warmth of the home.
It feels like I have known this home for years. It doesn't feel like a stranger's house.
As I walked further I heard giggles and my feet stopped. No, it can't be. Most of the people have similar voice.
I strode unable to shake that heavy feeling off my chest...
My heart stopped for a moment before it clenched painfully in pain. I hid against the wall my heart beating faster than usual. I couldn't shake off the image of my sister and my husband kissing.
She was here in Amsterdam for five years and now he is here. Oh foolish me...how did I thought he would not go to her.
"Dada..." Angela screamed but what followed was not welcome but silence.
He already made it clear years that he can't love me, he will not touch me. But he will be there for me and I understand. I accepted it. But it hurts. It still hurts so bad.
I knew, the moment he would even see her he would go back to her. And I was prepared honestly. But still I feel like my whole world is falling apart.
The home I made is broken. The five years I gave has vanished into thin year.
"Lottie..." I close my eyes letting the tears finally fall from. I want to go and hug her because I have missed her but at the same time I am hating her mere presence.
"Lottie I am sorry..." why is she even sorry about..it was bound to happen. Her guilt is making me unable to hate her in this moment.
I took a deep breath and look at her. She looks grown up. But still the same beautiful girl. "It's fine...you don't have to be sorry about anything. He was yours and he will always be yours."
I said and turned around to leave. I need to get out from here. I need to go away from them. They belong with each other. I can't come between them again.
"Lottie wait-- please listen to me" she called out for me but I can't stop right now or I will fall apart.
"Luis... give me the car keys" I shouted and he looked at me frowning but didn't dare to ask any question. He tossed the car keys at me.
I need to get away from here, don't know where but somewhere where I can let out all my feelings.
She was calling my name but I didn't stop and ran to cross the road but suddenly I was pushed with a force and then I heard it a screeching sound.
My heart stopped as everything went silent. She wasn't calling out to me anymore.
My heart thrummed in fear as I turned around I saw my baby sister lying in the pool of her own blood. No.
I ran towards her, people gathered around us. I put her head on my lap "please stay..." I whispered and screamed for help.
I saw Abram taking her away from me in the flash of a moment as if trying to protect her from me. He looked like as if his own soul was leaving his body.
"Mom--" I heard the babyish sound of my daughter and took her in my arms. I hugged her tightly, sobbing against her small frame.
She risked her own life
for me.
"Is aunt Meera dead?"
No she is not...she won't leave. She has to live.
Ahh too many accidents.
Love Pia.
