HIS BETTER HALF

The following day which was Sunday— Liam as usual was preparing the table for breakfast when his daughter walked into the dining room.

His attention wandered to her and he immediately forgot to breathe as he locked eyes with her.

She was wearing a black turtleneck and a plaid skirt that stopped right above her knees but a pair of black pop socks continued under the skirt and also a pair of black short boots.

Her new styled jet-curly black hair was slumping around her shoulders and on it was a pink hair clip feather hat which was precisely matching the small Jacquemus bag she was holding.

Liam’s gaze trailed down to the soft, inviting curve of her lips and his mouth watered.

Heat crept up Daniella’s cheeks and she dramatically fanned her face, “Am I that breathtaking, Dad?”

Liam forced a breath into his lungs and sat down with a slump, his eyes filling with desire. He crooked his finger at her, “Come here,”

Daniella obeyed his call and went to where he was sitting— their eyes leveled the whole time as she glided nearer.

Liam’s arms went around her waist the moment she got to him and he drew her down to his lap.  Daniella's legs spread on either side of him while Liam wrapped his arms around her, drawing her closer to him until she was plastered against his body.

He kissed her jaw, trailing lines of kisses down her neckline. Daniella’s heart raced like crazy and she bit back a moan of pleasure.

Liam then came to capture her lips and pushed his tongue into her mouth deeply and growled, demanding that she suck on it in a grunted order.

She did, wrapping her lips against his pink, velvet tongue and sucked them sexually until he growled again.

Then he began a rhythmical tongue-to-tongue dance with her that made her moaned repeatedly.

Daniella held onto her father as her brain whirled, her body fueled. She even parted her thighs wider, drawing him closer in between until she felt his rock hard cock at the very spot she was creamy and needy.

She palmed his stubble-trimmed cheeks, closed her eyes and sucked his lower lip into her mouth, pushing her tongue into his mouth and deepening the kiss further.

Long minutes after the fierce kiss had come to an end, they were still breathing very hard but beaming softly at each other.

Daniella squeezed her eyes closed in an effort to get herself under control again. Liam’s hair which looked tidy before was now looking disheveled because she’d curled her fingers into it while he kissed her.

“You’re breathtaking, sweetie,”

Her cheeks warmed pleasantly as she raised her hand and began running it through the straight hair from his body and her scalp tingled as he did the same to her own hair.

*************

Both father and daughter stood side by side in the House of God. Their eyes closed and palms pressed together in a prayer-like position.

Liam opened his eyes first and his head angled to the side and gazed at Daniella’s pretty face through the numerous small holes of the hat she was wearing.

Warmth filled his expression as his eyes kept training on Daniella’s side face.

And like that, Daniella gradually fluttered her eyes open and directed them to her father only to catch him staring down at him—smiling.

That unending goodness radiating from his smile almost sent her off balance but she ignored it and asked, “What did you pray for, Dad?”

Liam bit on his lower lip, his eyes watching Daniella closely and she soon noticed that his gaze was actually lingering on her mouth. It did something to her, made her feel hot inside and she quickly darted her eyes around to be sure no one was there with them.

“Don’t worry, I'm not going to do it. Remember that we’re in the presence of God,” Liam said in a low and gentle voice and Daniella agreed with a nod of her head.

She opened her mouth to repeat her question when Liam beat her to it, “Tell me, did you wish for anything from the big G?”

Beaming, Daniella nodded her head and began…

“Firstly, I thanked Him for not letting you die on me and secondly, I told Him that if there were to be a next life, then He should pleaseeeeeee not make you my father but my husband,”

Liam’s face closed up, pain and something else flashed in his eyes before he blinked and it was gone.

“He’s not a bad G, right? He's definitely going to grant my earnest wish, isn't it Dad?” As Daniella spoke, she had linked her arm around Liam’s.

Liam swallowed and gave a nod, forcing a little smile onto his face.

Daniella grinned and poked his arm, “Now will you tell me what you asked for?”

“I prayed that when the time comes, you should be able to forgive me, Ella,” Liam responded in a sad gentle voice after a fraction of a second.

A pin drop could be heard in the heavy silence that followed as they were quietly staring at each other’s eyes.

“What does that supposed to mean, Dad? How do you mean forgive you? Is there something you're not telling me? And since when do you start keeping things from me, Dad?” Daniella’s eyebrows shot up to her hairline, her eyes protruding as she bombarded her father with questions.

Instead of responding, Liam took her hand and started leading her out of the church.

Meanwhile, Daniella had not stopped questioning him over and over again.

The moment they got outside, she freed her hand from his grasp in an abrupt motion and Liam turned to her immediately.

“At least answer one of my questions, Dad. What are you hiding from me?” Daniella raised her voice a little, her eyes locking with his intently.

But to her amazement, Liam cracked up and laughed out softly for some time.

“Don't tell me you actually believed that, sweetie? I was only messing with you. What can I possibly be hiding from you?” his lips curled into a grin as he closed up the tiny distance between them.

The angry lines on Daniella’s smoothened out faster than a shift. It was almost comical.

A deep breath she had no idea she’d been holding released and she rolled her eyes at him, “That was expensive, Dad. I actually believed that. You know I believe everything you tell me,” she muttered, scowling playfully.

Her body went warm from the insides when Liam’s strong arms wrapped around her.

“I prayed that you—Daniella must never ever fall in love with any other man. You’ll never get tired of being in love with me, you'll only love me, me alone and just me,”

Liam enunciated as serious as he felt, his tender eyes wrapping and holding Daniella’s.

A flush crept up her neck and settled on her cheek and she also circled her hands around Liam’s neck, allowing herself to feel the warmth of his body.

They were facing each other but saying nothing. It seemed like the whole world had fallen away and both of them were the only ones left in it.

“Excuse me, my children,”

Startled, they leapt apart at the sound of this voice. They looked up at the same time and saw an old priest staring at them with a warm smile on his lips.

“I’m so sorry for interrupting your moment,” the priest spoke out gently, bowing his head as a sign of pleading for their forgiveness.

“No, no, no, Father. You haven't interrupted anything,” Daniella told him with a broad smile, waving her hand.

The priest smiled again, looking from Daniella’s face to Liam’s face. “You two are going to make an incredible couple,”

Hearing this, the huge smile on Daniella’s face could no longer continue as she exchanged a glance with her father.

“People around you shall be envious of the great bond between you two. Most of them will pray for such never-ending love you both share and also, you're destined to give birth to a set of twins twice,”

“The first pair will be boys while the second will be girls. May the Lord be with you,”

The priest made a sign of cross, gave them another heart-warming smile before turning around and walked away, his black garment almost sweeping the floor.

“Did I hear him correctly? That was not my imagination, right?” Daniella asked with a beam, ripping her attention from the direction the priest had taken and looking at Liam.

However, Liam had grasped his forehead, his eyes slipping close.

The euphoria Daniella was about to ride on died down immediately and apprehension replaced it.

“What’s wrong, Dad? Are you okay?” she asked worriedly, holding his big arms as if trying to steady him.

“Headache,” Liam grunted out, still not opening his eyes.

Daniella was suddenly rendered helpless, her beautiful face dripping with concern as she looked around for an aid but the few people around were not paying attention to them and she didn't want to let go of Liam’s arms.

“Alright, Dad. Lean on me as much as you can, I'll get you to the car now, okay?”

Liam did as he was told but he dared not rest his full body on his daughter’s petite body.

As they headed to the parking lot, he listened to Daniella’s assuring words who was already sounding tearily.

He couldn't help but smile while he watched her face through half-closed eyes.

‘My better half,’ he thought in his heart.
