Chapter 96.
Chapter 96.
Adrian.
My entire muscles stiffen, as Evan speaks. Even before Evan says it, I know the reason for his call.
I see the worried look on Andria’s face. I step a little to the side. Evan’s words humming unpleasantly in my ears.
“He has summoned you, Adrian. You are to be here at the earliest. And you know it is a punishable offence to delay the General Overseer of the Conclave.” He reminds me.
“I know that.” I tightly reply.
There’s a brief pause, before Evan speaks again.
“Why did you do it, Adrian; doing another forbidden? The last one caused you devastation. It took you almost forever to recover,” Evan wistfully says.
I ignore his concern, my gaze falling on a worried Andria, who only stares at me, wide eyed. The look on her face warms my heart. Knowing that she cares this deeply for me, is a balm to my condemned soul.
Suddenly, I want to have her right here and now. Just to remind myself that whatever I go through for Andria would be worth it.
“I’ll be there at the earliest.” I end the call.
The Vampire Conclave has taken longer than expected to have summoned me. I was expecting them weeks ago, when I married Andria. But they’ve waited pretty long.
An incoming message comes from Cassius. I frown, reading it.
Cassius: The Conclave has summoned me in regard to your marrying Andria.
I squeeze my eyes tight and try to inhale a shaky breath. If Cassius has being summoned, It implies that they will probably invite every vampire that works in my home. And that means they will equally invite doctor Charles. It’s not like I’m worried, for me or them. I’m worried that Andria might get suspicious if all the household is emptied. Most of my personal staff are vampires. My entire security team. My personal chef. I curse under my breath.
“Is something wrong?” Andria asks, as she closes the distance between us.
I flick my gaze to her and muster the most charming smile I can come up with.
“I’m fine, Andria. I was just getting apprises from work.” I slip my phone in my pocket and I pull her closer.
She places her palms on my chest and looks at me with those beautiful eyes of hers. I get lost in them. Seeing the degree of love that she has for me. I wish I was capable of love for her. She deserves it.
But I can’t love, because love damages everything. I kiss her. My lips tremble, not from the surrounding cold. But from the intensity of feelings I suddenly derive. It’s like a vault of my emotions have opened up since Evan’s call. And I can’t seem to control those emotions. There’s this sudden fear that worries me. A fear which I've never entertained all my life, except for the time my love was snatched from me. And now that all too familiar fear, finds its way inside me. Twisting me inside.
As I kiss her, I try to reassure myself that she’d be fine. I try to push back the fear. I kiss her, like I can simply make the fear vanish.
She kisses me back. A deep kiss that rolls off easily from our tongues. After a while, she pulls away.
“What’s wrong? There’s a pain you carry in your heart, Adrian.” She pleads, calmly.
My eyes search hers and I sincerely wish I can say all my heart wishes to say. But I can’t because my truth would devastate Andria. She would see me as a monster. And she would never give me this same look again.
Pulling her in for a kiss instead, I silence her and push her to a nearby spot at the pier, shielded from the light. The next sounds that follow the lapping of the water, are sounds of our moans, as I give her a quickie. Her body pressed deliciously against a tree, I sink my hard cock into her wet pussy. And take her from behind. The night, blanketing and shielding us.
The Conclave HQ, Berlin.
Sunday, 29th March. Three days later...
I listen to everyone around me speak. They’ve summoned many vampires and listened to them. Cassius, my acquaintances, Doctor Charles. I have equally spoken.
The tension in the atrium stretches thin. The echoes, loudly vibrating the surrounding walls. I sit in the middle of the atrium, like a felon awaiting judgment. My fingers tremble in my thighs, even though I currently put on a façade.
My eyes watch as the elders all bring their heads together and whisper. They’re all shielded in this invincible, impenetrable force field, conjured by the Ministry of Realms. The force field is reinforced to prevent the elders’ thoughts or words from being heard by any of the other vampires.
I shut my eyes to dispel the nervousness I feel. To quiet my frayed nerves and then I see her face. Andria stands before me, beautiful and enchanting. She looks like one person that I thought I lost, fifty years ago. She looks like the one who was snatched from me, by those I once called my own.
“Adrian Trinidad!” The voice of Decan Beaver, breaks into my clouded thoughts, jolting me to the present.
“You have been found guilty for doing the forbidden again. You have broken the pact and this time married a human. Just like you did, when you followed the Luna Princess, fifty years ago!” Decan gravelly announces.
Every word from him, sounds like a fucking knife to my soul. Evoking memories and pain, which I had suffered to bury beneath my mask of indifference for fifty years. I can hear Decan’s thoughts. I ball my fists in fury, as I already dread the next words that will fall out of his lips.
“You have a few weeks to turn Andria Trinidad into a vampire, or she faces death, just like the Luna Princess did, years ago.”
