Chapter 103.

Chapter 103.
Adrian.

“Andria.” I gasp sharply.

My eyes spring open abruptly from a trance I’ve just had of Andria falling into the river that runs violently inside the castle’s hunting grounds.

Andria is in danger!

Instantly, I summon my powers and I teleport myself into the river where she’s violently struggling to break free.

I hold my breath and push inside the water, my eyes searching for Andria through the unclear water. The water current is strong and it’s freezing. It rushes in violent rivulets, as I brave the current and push further inside.

Andria struggles for a few seconds before she instantly grows limp. I try to push back my alarm and instead push myself through the water.

I’m a good swimmer, so I reach Andria in no time. I pull her in my arms along with me, pushing us to the surface. When we reach the surface, I drag the both of us to the closest branch. I’m panting heavily. Fear gripping me, as I struggle to pull the both of us out of the water. The current is gushing hard, as I finally pull us out.

When I lay  her on the cold ground, I check her pulse. I’m scared shitless, as she isn’t breathing. A low whimper escapes my throat; my hands are trembling, not from the cold, but from fear of harm befalling Andria. I apply CPR to her. At the second cycle, she spurts out water, violently. Harsh gasps escape her lips. I hold her tight, crying, as her breathing slowly returns to normal.

“Thank God…Thank God…” I cry into her wet hair.

I don’t wait a minute longer, I carry her in my arms and teleport us back to the castle.

“Holt! Holt! Cassius!” I call out on top my voice, as I lay Andria on the our bed.

I push the wet clothes off her body and cover her with the warm blanket. I rush outside the room and call out frantically for help.

“Holt! Holt!” I call out on top my voice.

In no time, I see five faces downstairs.

“Please, call Dr Charles and someone bring some more blankets! My wife fell into the river!” I call out frantically.

I hear their gasps and soon they all hurry on the tasks, while two maids join me upstairs. We enter the room and one of them helps me with adding more wood to the fire. I sit on the bed, holding Andria’s fingers in mine. I’ve got no warmth to give to her. I’ve got nothing.

Andria looks very pale as she lies down there. She’s shivering violently. The warmth gradually spreads inside the room as the fire catches. Someone comes in with more blankets and the heater is even brought in. I watch anxiously, as they go about, trying to give Andria some warmth, while we wait for Dr Charles.

Chaos spreads around me, as everyone tries to help Andria. But I don’t see them. I don’t see anything. I only have eyes on Andria. My only concern is Andria. A I see her lying limp on the bed, I fear the worst.

Saturday 4th April. Five days later…

It’s been five days since Andria fell into the water. Five days since I last heard her voice. It’s been five days and all I see is Andria breathing through tubes and machines. I’m sitting in a room in the hospital, where Andria is currently admitted.

She’s being like this and no improvement. Doctor Charles is  one of the doctors here, so he usually accompanies her attending physician.

She’s currently being treated for pneumonia, which she got because of the cold and water in her lungs that night. Her attending doctor declared that if she hadn’t been saved immediately, it would have been worse. I didn’t even want to imagine what that meant. I only crossed my fingers, hoping she woke up.

And now days later, she’s still in this state. She’s on strong antibiotics, which have been prescribed for her. The doctors claim that she’s responding to the treatment.

And yet she hasn’t woken up at all. The anguish I’ve felt in days is nothing compared to the state she’s in. My phone hasn’t stopped ringing in days. Work related calls. Calls from Evan concerning the orders I was given to turn Andria into a vampire.

But I’ve thought of nothing else. I’ve only thought of Andria’s wellbeing. The door to the room opens behind me and Cassius quietly enters.

“Is she awake yet, Adrian?” Cassius asks, gravelly.

I spare him a sidelong glance.

“No. She’s being like this. Although the doctors said that she’s responding positively to the medication.” I inform him, offhandedly.

I turn my focus to Andria again. The room grows quiet for a few seconds, as Cassius and I get lost in our own thoughts. I hear his thoughts. He’s equally tortured; seeing her in this condition. But unlike me, who is free to hold her, Cassius is unable to do anything than watch her suffer. He can’t hold her in his arms. He can’t lessen her suffering.

“Evan says he’s being calling you, Adrian. He says you have a few weeks to execute the order that has been given to you.” Cassius reminds me.

I turn my hard gaze to him.

“I don’t give a fuck if the entire vampires cast me out as a forbidden. I don’t care doing the forbidden for her. All I that concerns me is Andria. I don’t care about whatever they say. Andria is my life now…” I choke, miserably.

My heart bleeds. My chest aches, like a huge lump lurks there.

I rub my chest, trying to dispel the ache. I’m distraught. I can’t bear the suffering staring back at me.

“I only want her to wake up, Cassius. I can’t live without her…I can’t Cassius. If she dies…Nothing else matters. My entire existence ends with her. Fuck the contract. Fuck how we started. I love her, Cassius.”
