Chapter 101.
Chapter 101.
Adrian.
Hours later…
“How dare you introduce a lycan as your fiancée, Adrian?! Especially knowing my position as the Alpha vampire of Bran!” Dad thunders, as we sit in the familiar drawing room of my parents’ castle.
I frown, my fingers squeezing Anaya’s. I rub inside of her palm, deliberately. Trying to ease the tension in her. She looks up at me, as if reminding me of what she said earlier.
I turn my stern gaze to my parents, who haven’t aged since the last fifty years. My dad is the clan's Alpha Vampire since we were turned into vampires. And since then, he’s being taking charge of the clan with admirable devotion.
“Dad, mum. I love Anaya and I wouldn’t mind breaking the pact just to be with her.” I shakily admit.
Dad stares hard at me. Mum just sits there, her eyes fixed on Anaya.
“Young woman, why did you accept my son’s proposal, when you know you're a lycan?” Mum asks, curtly.
Her classy flared dress, showing off her stylish taste. Her wheat colored hair in short waves around her shoulders. Mum still looks beautiful.
Anaya’s fingers tremble inside mine. “I…I reminded him that I was a lycan and…But he…I love him. We love each other immensely.” Anaya confesses earnestly.
She looks at me and shifts her gaze back to my mother. Mum is silent for a second.
Since we arrived here minutes ago, we have been on this argument. And I’ve grown weary of the entire argument. I take Anaya’s hand in mine and I’m about to leave with her, when mum’s voice stops me.
“Alright, you can marry our son, Anaya.” Mum announces quietly.
I turn to her in shock. Even dad seems shocked.
“Celia…”
“Dorian. Our Adrian has brought a woman as his wife to be. We should host a party to welcome Anaya in our clan.” Mum suggests, a smile splitting her beautiful face.
Dad gasps in shock, while I eye mum warily.
“Celia, what are you saying?” Dad’s astonished.
I’m astonished. A few seconds back, she was against Anaya.
“Why mum? What’s changed your mind?” I ask her, suspiciously.
She shrugs, casually.
“You’re my son and I would always want your happiness.” She easily confesses.
I soften, gazing at my mother with adoration. I can’t remember the last time she’s treated me affectionately. Ever since the incident with Julius, we kinda grew apart. I don’t wait, I go to hold mum in an embrace.
Somehow Anaya has brought mum back to me.
Next day…
We’re at the party. A ball held in honor of Anaya. I feel so happy having her with me. Everyone has being so welcoming so far. And even dad seems to loosen up a little, since the party started.
We’re all fully dressed in our evening wears. The ballroom is alive with classical music. I talk with a few of dad’s friends, who I haven’t seen in a while. Vampires from other clans in the world. I wonder the reason dad hasn’t invited any humans to this party.
I wonder where Anaya is. I look around and I don’t find her anywhere. When I asked dad earlier about Anaya and mum, he reminded me of women and their makeup.
A warning bell rings in my head as I stand in the center of the ballroom, but I shake it off. All of a sudden, the music stops and everyone suddenly grows quiet. I turn to what has grabbed the attention of everyone and I find my dad on stage. A black and red shining coffin is wheeled onto the stage and I find it odd. I wonder if there’s a magic show.
“Welcome everyone! Tonight my family and I have invited you all here to partake in offering a gift to the Luna goddess!” Dad announces, enthusiastically.
I frown, skeptically. I thought this party was in honor of Anaya. I look around the room for her, but I don’t see her. Mum comes out to join dad, as he continues with the announcement.
“Tonight as Alpha vampire, I rid our clan from the error, which our son made yesterday, when he broke the pact without any thought! Tonight I give us cleansing!” Dad booms.
Everyone around me cheers heartily. Dread swamps me. I don’t like where this is going one bit. My eyes dart about in search of Anaya. I push through the crowd heading out of the ballroom to search for Anaya, when another cheer goes off. And then I hear my dad loudly call my name.
“Come forward son and do the offering for our clan. Appease the Luna goddess for your sacrilege!” Dad orders.
All eyes turn to me, as I stand in the middle of the ball room. Unable to disobey dad in front of all these vampires, I worriedly cross to where dad is.
When I stand before him, he has this irritating smirk on his face, which worries me.
“Dad, what are you doing?” I ask him, quietly.
He pastes a smile on his face that doesn’t reach his eyes.
“You’ll see, Son. You will see.” He trembles.
I grow worried, as I haven’t seen Anaya and I would have really wanted us to escape from here. I had no idea we did sacrifices to appease the goddess. It’s not among the vampire rules. I think power has gone into dad’s head and he’s forming his own rules to suit himself.
Someone steps forward and opens the coffin. A familiar scent hits my nostrils. Anaya’s scent. I hear muffled sounds. When I look into the coffin, my eyes fall on Anaya’s haunted gaze. She’s bound and gagged in the coffin.
I look at her, helplessly. I turn a sharp gaze to dad. Horrified.
“Dad?” I question.
He closes the gap between us. Staring menacingly at me.
“You have no choice but to bite Anaya and spread your venom in her. Or else, we will all bite her and make you watch.”
